how does system f popularity go over in the uk???

I'd say Ferry's probably bigger because Out of the Blue was a pretty big tune over here when it came out.

But I was amazed at Homelands how many people hadn't heard of Tiesto.
Now that Urban Train & 643 are getting airplay he's getting a lot of recognition though, I think this EM is just what he needs to put him on the map.

Anyway I can't wait til Sunday!!! I'll be there in the chatroom at 2 in the morning o/ding on coffee if anybody else fancies joining me. We got a pretty good chat going in there for the Creamfields broadcasts. What kind of set is everybody expecting? Uplifting all the way or do you think he'll start of a bit proggy like at Amnesia?

cool
yea i was thinking the same, he'll go more prog because its the essential mix.. just because it seems that only oakie can get away w/ full on huge trance sets, if you look at scott bond's EM he REALLY toned it down from his famed 140 bpm mixes...
he was totally progressive until the middle..

im guessing dont expect a dutch dimension or innercity set, expect something closer to scottie bondie's EM... for better or for worse

Posted by music2dance2 on Sep-06-2001 00:01:

Yeah like Flowtation said (bet me to it) Tiesto is bigger now than Sott Bond and Ferry but Scott and Ferry are still hugly popular..but Tiesto's sound goes down a storm in clubs now. I reckon his set will start prog but he'll just cain out the uplifting trance he's known for and just be in ya face to be fair..something to remember. Does anyone remember Scott Bonds EM from about 2 years ago? With Out the blue, Pulp victim, carte blanche and stuff like that? That was awesome very uplifting from beggining to end

I know prog is way more popular now than then but it can still work. Tiesto will defo play it how it should be in the 2nd hour, he just knows what to do all the time without fail.

In trance we trust....

so hey where is the set at?? gatecrasher?? man i cant wait for this set.. wooo..

Posted by beroshima on Sep-06-2001 05:57:

A few answers:

- The set is probably in the studio (since they didn't mention a location)
- 320kbps vs 128kbps, etc... does make a difference if ur in the UK recording it directly from FM radio or satellite radio...

Recording from internet streams is not exactly the best quality...

Posted by dig2k on Sep-06-2001 15:07:

Alright thx...
Getting a new 80gb hard drive this saturday, just in time to record the set! :-)) So plenty of space!

What's all this satellite reciever shit?

Posted by chewd0g on Sep-06-2001 17:50:

satellite radio...digital quality sound

that's what they are talking about...

america has it now but it's not really that big yet...i want to get it that would be NICE!

just record the set & encode at 192

i seriously don't understand why you guys are paranoid about hearing this...guarenteed it will be recorded by other sources

i think this set is really going to show how bad tiesto is...bad at playing old tracks at least.

maybe he'll actually put some fresh stuff in the mix.

Get Sky Digital @ www.sky.co.uk - they offer Radio 1 as one of their audio-only channels!

BTW, i'm still hoping one of you record it in 320kbps or raw wave...

Tiesto on the EM is a rare event...

Hey hey hey!!!
I agree that it's a unique event but what about us with modems..?
An EM @ 320kbps should take up to 30hours of downloading...
I believe that 192 is enough

Posted by Shudder on Sep-06-2001 20:18:

whats the point of recording in 320kbps anyway?? iwould say 192 is good enough

Posted by flystyler on Sep-06-2001 20:23:

192 is good enough, oh, i have sky, u get rapture as well, but what do i need to record from it, to my comp???

Posted by flystyler on Sep-06-2001 20:26:

i would imagine it is a lead from the vcr, but i only have a headphone line in cable, what is it 3.2mm or sommit, god knows, but i havent got any idea what i would use, coz there is not headfone lead from my vcr, or tv, i will have to speak to my dad, he is an audio expert, well works for teac anyway

Posted by Andrew K on Sep-06-2001 20:32:

Your pc must have a line-in or something...
This is what you have to do :
a) Buy a cable with both sides possitives (Imagine 2 headphones cables as one)
b) Connect one end to the phone-out of your radio and the other to line-in of your pc
c) Download a recording program (I would recommend : Total Recorder)
d) Record the set
e) Convert it to mp3
f) Post it here the next day

Posted by Andrew K on Sep-08-2001 08:16:

Drunk It's tomorrow!

Sunday approaching!!! Are you readyyyyyyyy???

P.S. Keep this thread on the top since after the EM we're gonna post reviews, tracklist etc.

Posted by flystyler on Sep-08-2001 11:01:

DJ Andy thanx for the help, i know that already, but i was wondering how i would record from satalite tv, coz i have no headfone socket on my tv or video recorder, so i dont no what i need to record the sound

And where can i get total recorder from???

Posted by Andrew K on Sep-08-2001 11:15:

Man I don't know how to connect your tv to your pc since there is no jack...
Total recorder : http://download.cnet.com/downloads/...lst-7-1.5965681 <<< Get it from here... Anyway it's useless if you can't connect your radio to your pc

Posted by flystyler on Sep-08-2001 11:24:

thanx, but i usually use my radio, but i heard satalite is better, well it is, coz it is perfect, fm is a bit hazzy

Actually the simplest line-out of a device is the "Headphones Line"... Your TV must have this...

So after all, will you be able to record (and post) the set?

Posted by flystyler on Sep-08-2001 11:44:

nope, my big tv has no heapfone socket, but my dad maybe able to help me, and i cant post the set at the mo, only 56k, but i am hopefully getting cable very soon

Posted by flystyler on Sep-08-2001 15:44:

i have pm u, but i was wondering if i could borrow some of yr webspace to upload a song to, also i need a serial for total recording

There's something I really don't understand. If a broadcast is originally sent @ 128k... what difference does it make if it is recorded @ 128k 256k or 320k? It is still going to sound like 128k... won't it?

Yeah thats what I was gonna say...

Manufacturers should be able to build DAB radio recievers similiar to the psion wavefinder (http://www.wavefinder.com) for around 30 by christmas this year, so it looks good... Shame i couldn't have 1 now, i tried 2 get hold of 1, but cant get it delivered till tuesday :-(

320kps... Not really worth it... Bad for 56kers... Nuff Said

Posted by AnotherWay83 on Sep-08-2001 19:01:

when exactly is this US time??? look at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/djs/comingup.shtml

Posted by flystyler on Sep-08-2001 19:11:
