Huh? Books? What are those? I'm still working on my ESL let alone reading fantastic liberal fiction.

| You cannot negate that Mulroney sold out Canada by instilling privatization (Selling Air Can--now in bankruptcy) and passing the GST. |
IMO - Next to NAFTA those were some of the best things Mulroney ever did. Gov't has no business in running an airline - and immagine how much tax I'd pay if there were no GST - probably 65% instead of the crazy amount I'm already paying.
BTW - Who has privatized PetroCan and is liquidating the remaining portions of their assets in PetroCan? Mulroney right?

| Please don't let yourself be swayed by the propaganda |
Oh, but I do get swayed - very easily - and all because I haven't done my homework, haven't read books or taken fluffy arts courses in university.

Wow!
You really are a nasty piece of work aren't you.
How long have you been suffering with hostile depressive mood swings?
Were you a bully when you were grewing up?
How did others feel around you--I'm sure you must have lived a very sheltered life.
I'm so sorry that you live with this immense hatred.
I can see now that trying to help clarify fact from fiction is futile. I won't waste any more efforts.
Clearly, no one can express an educated opinion because in your world you are the only one that is right, and all others should be hung because they don't agree with you.
Too bad--I actually respected your view. I even thought you were more intellectual, until I read your last 2 posts.
Best of Luck to you.
I hope you get over your anger.

since this debate(or was until weenie ran away because RJ had a rebuttal) is so off topic.....heres what I miss
REFORM!
seeing preston on newsworld was great.
I love the man

DIE YOU LEAF HATER DIE!
ok now that that's out of my system... (no actual hatred is held for you, simply a natural torontonian response to seeing any defaced maple leafs sign).
I'm inclined to agree more with a regulated capitalist party... If only their was one. By allowing everyone to make their own way without being a detriment to society as a whole, no one has any excuse for not being successful in life! I know millionaires who never went to university and I know extremely well educated PHDs who have failed miserably at life. That is the basis for my (almost) no holds barred capitalist party idea.

are we still yapping about the food tax? because it's no longer.
Posted by PartyHarlequin on Apr-21-2004 14:16:
No, I was just responding to something in general. I had forgotten about the whole food tax thing a while ago

Wow, another one
Do they grew you by the dozen?
Let me put this in a way that should end this--I was debating, but my friend was not. It certainly wasn't an educated rebuttal. I think perhaps that was too big of a word for your vocabulary.
I don't waste my time debating with people that don't know how to debate. And that, of course, includes you. No one in a debate uses the word weenie against their opponents. That's just childish.
Perhaps when you get some education, experience and a job in the legal/political system, then we can debate.

Answer me this:
Do you know me? Do you know what I've done? Do you know what I've accomplished?
Seriously, I honestly don't understand how one could act so arrogant.

So your back to the name calling. How mature.
To end this--
No I don't know you. We definately don't run in the same circles.
No I don't know what you've done--I've only seen your posts. And they are nothing to be proud of.
No I don't know what you've accomplished. I'm not interested anymore.
Perhaps when you lower that condescending tone, then we can agree to disagree. For now--I don't think so. Best of luck to you
P.S. There is one thng about you that's ok--and that is that your a TA. So I assume it's because you like the music. And that's a good start

I thought if you made between $0-7850 your not taxed at all..
between 7850-40000(something like that) its 18%
and then from $40-65 its something like %30 on the difference between 40 and 65.. not on the entire amount.
and it gets progressively higher, correct me if i'm wrong. |
Ah how naive we are....
up to 30.000 25%

j_spot get a personality and stop trying to live behind someone else's shadow. Do us all a favour and stop trying to stir up fights to satisfy your ego. We don't need that at this forum.
Judging by your Leaf hating symbol you really are a bitter person with no contempt for others.

actually I just dont like the leafs.
You guys got Gilmour(ex flame), Roberts(who flames released for fear of his back), and Newendyk
slight resentment here.
When they played for the Flames, I was still a hockey fan.
Now I just like the playoff fever that surrounds my city.
and I dont particularly like Toronto. call it western alienation. however, 8 months a year, Im there. have to be. Damn UofT.

Well if you don't like the leafs just say it rather than put up an offensive symbol. Nothing good comes out of that--you just get ppl ticked off. Your not going to win any friends that way.
Words are way more powerful, and they can be appreciated and respected.

Federal Bracket > $104,648 46.41%
Provincial Bracket > $67,288 43.41%
Provincial Bracket > $64,871 39.39%
Federal Bracket > $64,368 36.98%
Provincial Bracket > $57,108 32.98%
Provincial Bracket > $32,435 31.15%
Federal Bracket > $32,183 28.05%
The above chart shows how much tax you will pay on your LAST dollar of income. The progressive tax system means you pay the % in each of those brackets (for the income earned in that bracket).

Now that I've done my taxes for the year - my original assertion on my OVERALL tax burden was slightly exagerated - however it still is high (IMO). Don't forget to add in CPP and EI contributions when calculating your tax burden.

Here are some tax credits that the Quebec'ers get (exclusive to Quebec):
Dependent Child (first) $542
Children (additional) $500
Single Parent $271
Living Alone $219

Oh geez, for some of us with some sanity left, that means never... job in a legal/political system? Who in their right mind would want that?!
