My friends in my old football team back in the day used to call me Howie.. Reason being I am a Newcastle supporter (as in Steve Howie used to play for them) and my surname is Howard.. So the surname was quite fitting really. And this caught on with a few other of my friends. I don't hear it so much these days though.

and my friends decided everyone needed to know someone named boomer, and at the time we didn't, so they picked me.
