I think this was a nice movie, I had a good time watching it.

I think I will just download it.

After PAYING to see VanHelsing I am pissed-

Posted by ojste on May-18-2004 13:55:

i thought it was alright, bit long though

I didn't care for it too much. Acting was bad, and the whole movie seemed like it was trying to be "epic". Gladiator kicks its ass.

i saw it this weekend and i have to say...it was the worst job acting i've been brad pitt do. he's usually on, but whoever the writers were really sucked it up.

the only cool part was the part with the balls of fire...

I just saw the trailer. I liked the scene where the camera is showing a trireme,(the greek fighting ships, triiris in greek)and than is slowly zooming-out showing two , three, seven, fifteen, forty one hundred- WTFFFFF !!!! and its like the whole sea is full of triremes!!!Godddd i thought the on-board soldiers should be more than the whole ancient greek population!!! More hollywoodisations of ancient mythology than...

i didn't liked the story/plot, it could be much better
photography was horrible but there was one scene that i loved: when the agamnemom (whatever..) army breached the walls..that flying cam..sweeet!
i had much hope on troy and i was let down..same went for van helsing and for pretty much all the movies i watched recently..hollywood is falling

I thought it was an entertaining movie. Not a great movie, but enjoyable to watch in the theatre.

[spoiler]

Did anyone else notice how the fight between Hector and Achilles seemed to be even up until Hector tripped over the rock? Was that supposed to be significant?

I saw the movie. It was decent but I'm afraid I would not like to imagine myself as achilles...since...well, he's suppose to be gay *in the book*. So yeah, nothing against gays...just not my bag baby.

most greeks were bisexual along with romans

i didn't understand one thing
when trojans attacked by night, hektor battled achiles thinking it was him..and the soldiers just stop fighting and acted like they were watching a box combat on tv..and why did the battle stop just because that dude died? i mean..many men died that moment and no big deal was made for them..

It's a legend, babe. Take it as such. Legends aren't meant to be realistic. They usually make the whole universe revolve around the heros and anti-heros to the point where, yes, a whole battle will stop just because a couple of big-shots have come face-to-face. I think that's something a lot of people on this thread have overlooked in their critique of the movie: it's based on a story that's thousands of years old. No, it's not ok to omit the gods just because we don't believe in them anymore. Hoakey or not, they were part of the original story.

I think Achilles was toying with him somewhat. He definitely wasn't going out full force for the first bit of the fight. Prolonging Hector's bravado (or whatever it's called) is part of making the revenge sweeter.

I could be wrong.

montie i think you not reading up on classical mythology was because you WERE a latin student and not an ancient greek student.

I know I'm late, but I finally saw the movie. I thought it was pretty good. The fights were amazing imo.
