thats right, i am a tranceaddict in training...and i've prolly lost all rights to move forward as a tranceaddict cause i've lost respect for trance.

it seems that sandstorm03 progresses further into the disunity bewteen trance and techno lovers on a more personal level. its kinda sad when u have to start attacking an individual cause u have a different opinion. oh well, i kinda would expect that from someone like you

but after listening to electronic music for 8 years and spending thousands of dollars on vinyls and Technics, i think i've earned the fucking right to voice my opinion

it doesn't matter to him, so I wouldn't try if I was you. As long as that registered sate is there, he'll use that against you.

hehe, I was trying to think of a dj sandstorm likes, so then I could say he would make fun of them if they just registered, but all I ever hear is him raggin on djs.

so wtf do you like?

*prepares full attack on whoever it is*

OMG!! you guys are so way off the mark. Tech trance is real, alive and well, and if you knew your music well enough you would know that Danny Howells brought out a CD called "tech trance" on the ministry label way back in 99 with producers like Planisphere, Ylem, Red Shift and a whole lotta others who have been making tech trance for donkeys years. Oliver Lieb wacked out a CD called "Phuture Tech trance" in 2000 on the Phoolish records label. These are just two that spring to mind. If you ever get a chance, get over to Goa and check out there notion of what trance is, combine that with the electronic twists, rifts and intelligent loops that we know today, and presto.....tech-trance. Anyone heard of Tsuyoshi Suzuki? the master of tech trance

Posted by sleepydragon on May-23-2004 10:12:

i cant believe people r thick enough to claim that tech-trance doesnt exist it contains elements of techno and trance simple
i think some people look into stuff to much

Dunno

WOWOW, faj, there is one critical error in your statements. You say that Jeff Mills "the Bells" was created before trance even emerged.
YOU DEFINATLEY MUST BE UNDER AGE

I was listening to REAL trance 16years ago in India - where it all started. That is REAL trance. close your eyes and drift away (without the drugs)

There is so much tossing and turning yet if we back to the roots of the music, then you will see that the real foundation of music as we know it, even before knuckles put the first beats in sync, lies in traditional trance. I guess from there music developed and all the itermingling of sounds and electronica have redifined the generic genre. Some like it some dont, but whats most important is how we each perceive that music to make us happy. If one dude wants to call it tech trance, and the other not, thats fine.

headache now.not used to so much concentration.

lol, 16 years ago, trance didn't exist...

what u were listening to was Goa, something completely different from trance.

people need to know their shit...
www.ishkur.com >>> go to the guide to electronic music, he sums it up nicely

Bells was 1993, around when trance started to push off.

Then when did it start?

Goa is the primordial form of trance...hypnotic melodies and ambient moods with the absence of a primary rhythm.

By going to Ishkur? That's the way to go...have somebody else stuff your face with 30 second samples and hilarious cynicism on a now-static genre.

To me, the tech trance argument falls along the line of people debating progressive vs progressive trance. Because it's music, and because it involves our own abberations and preconceived perceptions, dry categorizations are impossible to acheive, let alone the claiming of new genres. Songs these days are taking advantage of intertwining different STYLES rather than trying to do a shitty hybrid style mashup(not talking about bootlegs) One song that comes to mind is Sander van Doorn - Loaded. It has somewhat constant proportions of techno and progressive trance and house intertwined, but the reason why the track doesn't go overboard is because each element is minimal, yet stand outs in it's own way. Repeated synths, hardbassline, soft pads...you get the idea.
For me, tech trance exists, and it's the only type of trance other than progressive(whatever that means) that I 'believe in'.

Yes YeS YES I'm with you there... when will people stop arguing about it and just enjoy their music? It's not a problem to be solved, and terms are quite relative. I bet, say, Japanese have all sorts of words for these types of music too :P

Otherwise, it's just...

REDUNDANT!

Posted by rob_sardellitti on May-24-2004 00:42:

wow some of you are very stupid..(i dont want to point out any names)

i hate all these stupid genre nazi's....

when he says tech-trance..even if it isnt an "official" genre (who the fuck makes it a real genre? i dont know) he means he wants a trancey song with pumping drum rhythms

anything marco V will give you that...but for all the people arguing...just answer his question, he gave examples, use em to follow what he wants

thanks!

1993 was the first big year of Trance. It emerged as a genre around 1991/1992 with stuff like Dance2Trance-releases on the Adam & Eve inprint and Age of Love - Age Of Love (there are shitloads of trance tracks made before 1993). And no, it wasn't goa-trance. I would think that anybody that was actually around and active in the rave scene at this time would agree.

To say Bells (which is a legendary kick-ass techno track btw) was released before trance is just plain wrong.

Posted by Torley Wong on May-24-2004 17:48:

Please clarify for me:

Is this "Bells" referring to Jeff Mills' "The Bells"?

Thank you.
