Probably because Charles likes to have his DJ's sign exclusivity agreements which exclude them playing at other venues in the city for a certain period of time.

Jeff Mills? Sander K (2 FUCKING X!!! :whip? Scumfrog? Satoshi Tomiie? Dean Coleman? and now Danny T?

It's quite obvious that it's only a matter of time before Carl is at Boa. My guess is New Years.

Cheers guys, the future looks ever brighter for the TO scene.

That's really what I'm waiting for.

Hey Boa, its fine and dandy to promote your venue but you look quite silly bashing others. Try and be a little more professional while bearing the Boa-Redux alias.

Boa is a completely different entity than guvernment. I personally feel there is room for both in this city and room for a whole lot more. I havnt had the chance to go to Boa but ive heard good things.

For you to bash another club as a private member is fine but when your alias even represents your club it comes across as very umprofessional and brash.

Well, it's true. What's the problem?

Posted by Creamfields on Jun-17-2004 14:38:

The problem is if you represent a club, you shouldn't go around bashing another one, especially from the same city.

Posted by PartyHarlequin on Jun-17-2004 16:12:

If it's truth is it still bashing? Or stating facts?

Who is to say what is the truth and what is not??? You and Boa-Redux might agree with that statement but not other people.

Smoking ..umm..something

Only time will tell

Posted by JustinStyles on Jun-17-2004 17:17:

You know what really bothers me about this one...is that the GUV is using the name GLOBAL GATHERINGS...yet, they aren't even linked with the actual GLOBAL GATHERINGS festival!
Yes, there dj's rock..and I would love to go (too bad I have to work), but unless I am mistaken...GLOBAL GATHERINGS hasn't put their name to this for real!

If I am wrong...please respond!

Thanks,

Justin!

Hypocricy comes to mind when reading your reply; Opinions expressed herein are those of all concerned at Boa, we do not use proxies or mouth pieces to spread venom , rumors, and untruths.
You are right Boa is different than the Guv and other clubs, we do not threaten staff, Djs or agencies, we compete where it counts on the dancefloor with our sound and music.
Our primary goal is the proliferation of the EDM scene which ultimately translates into financial gain for us as a business. You are also right in saying that there is room for a whole lot more, but unfortunately some of the existing clubs are stifeling the local scene and talent simply to cater to the insecurities and ego of the owners and some promoters.
Are we pissed? damn right we are,and so should you, when the city's finest DJs are threatened with being banned from other venues simply because they want to play on the only system in the city that gives justice to their talent.
Finally, brash we are not, but confident we are in the service and product we provide; When we bring talent such as DT or Cox in the future we provide the platform to fully showcase their talent with extended sets (2 hour sets are like movie previews). and our local residents are free to conduct their lives as they wish!!!

Most clubs in TO are doing this.

Posted by Creamfields on Jun-17-2004 17:35:

yes but it seems to me that he/she is directing this towards Guv.

The Guv and System are doing this!!!! (and a couple others not even worth mentioning)

Posted by Tordan on Jun-17-2004 17:38:

I remember the days when we'd all be so pumped about an upcoming event and talk about how the lineup is gonna kick ass and not worry about all the politics behind bringing those DJs to Toronoto. Ahhh the good old days.

I didn't even know they could get a DJ to sign such a restrictive contract. Isn't that against the law? I have no idea so pardon my ignorance.

oooo this is getting juicy

Posted by JustinStyles on Jun-17-2004 18:07:

I have to completely agree with BOA...we are having the same problem!

Instead of fighting amongst clubs and restricting (Boa-and I had a wicked time trying to get DANNY...THEY GOT HIM...ALL THE POWER TO YOU and I WILL BE THERE)...but other places, aren't as friendly!

We aren't trying to steal them from going to other clubs...we ALL are just trying to make a name for ourselves, HAVE A WICKED VENUE for all of you...the real people who make OUR NITES HAPPEN, and to BRING wicked TALENT with WICKED VIBES and WICKED TUNES!

I would love to see more CITY UNITY, but alas that is not going to happen anytime soon.

That's all there is too it....Heck, I would love to be able to see a DJ play one gig one night, another venue the next night and have the two parties work it out. It happens with Locals all the time, but why the big fuss about BIG DJ's! They are human too...as are all of us!

Like always, PEACE, LOVE and HAPPINESS!
That's all we need!
That's my expensive 2 cents,,,heehee

Styles

I don't know either...I imagine they could sign them to a semi-regular residency that contained a non-competition clause though.

regardless, it's pretty easy for a large club like Guv to say to someone, "sure, go spin for whatever peanuts that party is giving you...you'll never spin here again". Nothing on paper. Try to prove a club won't book you, lol. The club will just say "um, we just don't want them here"

I am not going to be at GG, DT, or Armin.
