Just got an estimate back for NuNRG from PAMDJS:

Artist fee: $2,000 US plus 10% booking fee plus travel and accomadations.

Also just received a newsletter from LPSF that float applications
will be out soon, supposedly next week.

Posted by DaveT on Jul-13-2004 21:02:

That's not a bad fee at all (I have always been told they are real expensive)...is that for the whole group? Or for each one?

I assume...it's for both, the group, NuNRG.

I think they recognize this is a grass-roots TA effort, and we aren't making any money off this, and we need to raise money.

Posted by DaveT on Jul-13-2004 21:25:

I doubt there's any discount involved really since it's a Saturday gig.

Some artists are just cool with making money to live off of...not much about making tons of money. For example...although this is old, last I heard MarcoV was only $3,000 for US bookings.

URGENT

To update everyone: Nu-NRG has two other offers to play on Oct. 2nd,
same day as Love Parade, and their management would like to know our status. I am still contacting more potential sponsors,
and waiting to hear back from others. This is going to have to come together ASAP. Obviously, we need firm committment on money.

Does anyone else have any new news?

The first "LPSF volunteers" meeting is today, Thursday in SF - if that means anything.

Also still no more information from LP about float applications, routes, times, etc. This could be awesome if they could just get their act together!

I got the following email from them yesterday:

quote:

Dear Melissa,

I am out on holiday until 7/27. I have asked our float and sponsorship
leaders to contact you with info. Please allow up to 2 weeks for a reply.

Apologies.

Josh

i feel uneasy making arrangements when it seems like they really dont have their acts together.

Would love to, but I work in the south bay and won't be able to make it. It's at 7pm. Is there anyone who works downtown who might be able to drop by?

Here's the info:

July 14th, 7:00PM
LGBT Community Center
Room 300
1800 Market St (at Octavia)
San Francisco

In other news...Pioneer is a no-go for funding. Oh well, I tried.

I was going to try to go to the meeting just to see what was up, but because a work-related event happening tomorrow, I am going to be stuck here at work until late tonight.

well who do we want? I'd rather get people who are already in the area, and i do know some international talent that will be in for that week.

I can talk to my sister who, like i said, is one of the directors of the float organization team. If you need help, I can help out. I will be attending Loveparade.

About the Lasers.....

There are a few things to think about if lasers will be used.

1- They will give the larger trucks and shows toward the evening. Lasers are good at night. This float will prolly be during the day.
2- Big lasers have to have a license to opperate in this type of way. They are very dangerous and cannot be pointed into the crowd.
3- Lasers also have to have fog or smoke to see them. When outdoors it very hard to make this happen.

Just a few things to think about. I cant wait for this! How is the vibe for Love Parade goin in SF? Im flyin in from Florida. It will be grand!

As far as big int'l talent that will be in the area, Nu-NRG might still be around I am guessing, but not sure if they got booked for that night, but it would require $2200 plus travel/accomadation, live PA gear. I think at this point, we have to go the free route.
Anyone know some talented DJs that would spin for free?

Re: About the Lasers.....

Notice how I said laser Graphics ....not beams .... I could project Logos... custom text ect. onto a screen....

Lasers dont need licenses they need FDA Variences (over 5mW)

the US and the UK(somewhat) are the most anal about crowd scanning with lasers(i.e. Dont even think about it or your ass will be toast)... hell you can do it in canada and all over europe....

the issue is there is no world standard on the safe level of laser power that the eye can handle safely.... the US and most other countries have different opinions on this issue...

I think our biggest problem is funding...
the application is due in two weeks.
We might need to brainstorm some ideas to get some money... everything else will probably follow through afterwards.
