Awesome night.....WOW!!!
The guv wasn't overly packed, nice and cool compared to Tiesto, thank goodness. PVD rocked us.....playing good hard trance all night.
My highlite of the night.....talking with Mark Oliver for a bit in the orange room......then him announcing "this one is for Danielle" for his finale....ahhhhhh!
Tried to get him to ID the song that I have been looking for but he couldnt remeber it, but he did play it......"I remember when......." female vocals....if anyone knows it let me know, thanks!
Steve: Shannon says hi, and it was awesome chillin with you guys again...sorry about the beach, maybe next time.

WICKED NIGHT PEOPLE
of course the music - PVD played proper trance like he used to. I knew after hearing energy 2003, that he was back on track
I guess that the pressure of being # 1 is over for him and he can now do what he loves best once again.
with respect to Tiesto (a super fantastic DJ) I didn't go see him last week because I knew he wouldnt play what I wanted to hear. He is going through what PVD went through 2 years ago. In time Tiesto will be murdering dancefloors again when moves down from #1.
Long live PROPER TRANCE!!!

| Originally posted by tatgirl Man, the best podium dance was going on in the middle- with some brown dude with a shirt tied around his waist, dancing among 2 chicks. All he kept doing was pelvic thrusts, watching the sleeve of his shirt (that was tied) bounce up and down, as if it were his penis. Just kept air-thrusting, and the woman was clueless. He even went so far as to hold that dangling sleeve in his hand and give it a few wanks, as if really....!!! Was about to throw a bottle at his head, cuz he was really crass, when Gino boy in the lace-up crotch leather pants gets up there & starts doing his posing with his glowsticks dance, and was doing the 'pouting of the lips' move to NO END! I didn't know who to throw the bottle at then.... He kept turning around to the brown dude and telling him something (probably like 'dont steal my spotlight, dude'. Who knows. |
Got to the club arround 11. Did not like Mark's set this time arround. He almost put me to sleep, but he picked it up closer to 1. Then PVD came on and completely killed me with hard tracks ; ) I wish he played a bit more epic tracks, but his performance overall was great ; )
Met lots of TAs, lots of russian ppl(where the hell did the all come from? Moscow? ) and left right after PVD's set b/c I had to work early tomorrow. Overall 8/10 , good night , waaaaay better than Tiesto's night, but not as good as his set in October in Kool House. One interesting detail- I noticed that I always have better time in Kool House and almost never in Guvernment. I wonder why...
PS When I just got into the club they were selling tix to GG and on poster on the wall (printed poster, made in MS Word most probably, not a flyer ) they had Carl Cox listed. And that's when EVERYONE already knew that he cancelled. What did they hope for??? Hate Guv for things like that !

I CAN READ......I really can
yeah it was the second song
Okay first of all I just want to say that this night was the best clubbing experience ever!
Nicely pre-drank in the car in the parking lot. Anyway got in maybe 30 mins before Paul came on and were dancing NON-STOP for about 3 hours... music was fucking phenominal I thought. For those of you who may have seen a dude with a white t-shirt with black P V D letters written on in a triangular shape - that was me(I'll post pic as soon as i get it sent to me). At the end when Paul began signing autographs, I quickly took that shit off and handed it to the man himself for an authentic Paul Van Dyk autograph... that put a nice big smile on my already happy face.
The next 12 hours weren't as much fun as I had to drive gf to waterloo and get my ass to mississuaga for work all straight after the club...NOT FUN AT ALL, let me tell you!!!
its all worth it though! awesome awesome night!
My first time seeing PVD went well! The drive up with the K-town crew was a blast as always !! Satellite was the first track we heard Mark Oliver play, and it was also the first track when we came to Tiesto. Very coincidental.
I spotted RJ, Ken, and Goodnet first, then Barry, Ortemy, Cuzo, Laura, the_broad, tatgirl and wurm. Later in the night I met Trickdadde and his gf, magnetonium, NeonAlien, and Myway. Nice to see all of you, and hope to see you all again sometime soon.
Some guy that I thought was Tordon, Durafei and DJ Ampz, you guys were so much fun !! As always!! Starseacher, calm down? I was perfectly calm. Besides, you are the real TOTA here, and I was doing the introducing...
There was something *different* about most of the TA's out last night. I had no idea you guys could party so well! Usually you just stand around and talk, well at Tiesto most of you did anyway. The atmosphere was pretty crazy, much more exciting then at past events. Or was it just me?? Fill me in on this one.
NOW IS THE BEST PART OF MY REVIEW. Because I have a pic of myself in the avatar, Richard the head whistler recognized me !! He, his cousin, and his brother were not very happy campers. All of you smart others can't be identified by him. I mean they HATED me so much. The last thing I need is enemies. Once I talked to them for a bit I started to feel bad. Some of the posts in that thread are not very nice. He explained to me that he thinks he is energizing the crowd. I explained our general point of view, and how it wrecks a set, preventing us from enjoying the music. Some whistling is okay, and can be kool, but this is appropriate on very seldom occassions. We both disagree with eachother but shake hands, I appologize, and a slight compromise was made. He would ease up on the whistling, and we would ease up on the threats and insults. He is actually a pretty cool guy, and I figured out he was whistling for the crowd. So Cuzo, I am on your side defending richard and the boys, even though I am against the whistlers. They do deserve to be treated much better. And did anyone hear much whistling last night? hmmmm maybe I accomplished something. I didn't hear ANY. I really hated that situation, it put a damper on my night. It was dramatic !!
It seemed to me that Paul didn't even want to be there. He doesn't seem like a happy person. I barely saw him crack and smile, and when I asked him to sign my vandit shirt he just looked at me with a weird expression and signed someones water bottle. I liked his set though, and was happy to hear crush, I KNOW YOU WANT ME. Two pvd productions in his set was lots, and I liked the fact that is was different, different from other tracklists I have seen anyway. The train horns right at the best part of the buildup in Crush? What were they thinking up there??? Paul looked so angry about that too, it looked like it was really pissing him off. It was pissing me off too. It was nice to see him autographing, for a bit at the end, but he didn't seem in to it at all. Maybe I just don't get him totally yet, but I still think he is a genuis.
All in all I had a great night, and met so many non-TA people as well. Shall we call them civilians?

i must say i enjoyed this night a lot more than tiesto, for one reason: ROOM. room to dance, room to walk around, room to freely move. that and the fact that it wasn't a sauna in there.
i thought pvd's set was really good. didn't recognize too many tracks, but crush, love song, and a techy track (i'll find out what it's called, sick track) sounded killer. as with tiesto though, it didn't feel overly special.. was lacking that certain something to put it over the top. but all in all, i was pleased with my first time seeing pvd.
and once again, the TAs make the party. recognized Shaun (goodnet) outside in the lineup, talked with RJ, Barry (DJ Ampz) and met some of the Kingston crew (Linzie, Karen, Diana and Steve i believe) and hung with them most of the night at the front of the stage. also met Starsearcher, and i agree with you, the stage set up hindered a lot of good photo ops. Nat, just like tiesto, i lost you.
and Vince, last person i expected seeing, lol. "TOO FLUFFY!!"
other people: maxtuh (sorry bout the name mixup
) hardcore trancer (one of the few people that heard ishii's brilliance. nice to see you again
) Alan (Sage2635) damn nice surprise seeing you! glad to hear you know where your priorities are with school. balance is good.
will be seeing you @ nu-nrg back at viva. and of course Ilyia with his amazing energy!
thanks to you and your friends for the ride home; saved me some much-needed cash!
overall:
pvd : 8.5/10
mark oliver : 6/10 disco house? wtf?
guv : 8/10 yay room!
i'll get my pics sorted out.. there's gonna be a lot of bad ones.. not enjoying this camera too much in a club setting, too sensitive..

I'm afraid I have to dissent with the masses and quite honestly I was surprised to read all the positive responses to the night. While I enjoyed aspects of the night, I personally found last night was his worst set I've ever witnessed in my 6 PVD parties.
I thought the track selection was weak and when he finally started stringing together some good tunes near the end, he got off! It just wasn't hard enough for my liking.
Nice crowd however, and I did like the added bonus of not smelling like smoke when I got home.
PS. Working the next morning blows.
I had a really special night...I was so caught up in the music that I (almost) didn't notice what my heels were doing to my feet. Would've been an 11/10 had I planned a different outfit...grrrrr...
I wasn't familiar with most of the tracks and I'n still trying to find a better tracklisting...Can anyone help me out?
Mr. Van Dyke just seemed so incredibly focused. It's nice not seeing a DJ who goes out there trying to appear Godly-all throwing their hands up in the air. He knew that we worshipped him, and so he didn't need the theatrics (not naming any names here).
