I don't see how ppl can stand those silly kicks that sound kitchen utensils hitting each other, and those dodgy basslines..

Maybe you did, but did it ever occur to your fascist mind that other people might have different tastes? Beauty and bliss is fine in some situations, but sometimes hard music is what is needed. Stop being so bloody narrow-minded thinking that because it doesn't fit your tastes it's suddenly a disgrace to music.

But producers such as Cosmic Gate are not trying to make music that touch people's souls. They make music for people to dance to.. how is that a disgrace to electronic 'dance' music?

agreed

comparing chicane and cosmic gate is like comparing apples and oranges. And i must say i like both artists equally as well.. it just depends on my mood

Look into:

Commander Tom, Nuclear Hyde, Captain Tinrib, OD404, Karim....

Hard Trance at its best...

The UK and European Hard Trance scene is totally stale now. I used to love it. Tinrib, Weirdo, BK, TDV, and 0d404 made sum phat tunes. Karim was always a bit shit tho . As of late Tidy have removed ne credibility the scene once had. Other labels like Vicious r still bringing out sum tunes, but with HardHouse incorporating more and more techno influences, id rather just listen to straightup Techno.
As For the European scene, the Departure of S.H.O.K.K has weakened the genre and the only real Hard Trance artists i have listened to lately is A*S*Y*S.

Funny how you mention these guys as mistaken hard trance producers. They do produce Hard Trance tracks, after all. Producer/DJ's can have more than one style.

mint, cheers mate, you sed exactly what i wanted to say but i couldnt be arsed

and system-j i kinda agree with what your saying.. apart from uk hard trance being harder.. yeah it may be faster, but UK stuff is very tacky in my opinion, i can listen to it yeah,,., but i just dont feel it as much as german stuff.. and by german stuff i dont mean like dumonde/cosmic gate etc etc... i mean stuff by the artists usually miss in the german scene that you dont know of unless you are actually into it. i.e a lot of the artists icesotope mentioned in the past years and now a days ht section of his comment

ur the ignorant bastards for thinking he is hard trance

Posted by Lotus on Jun-29-2004 19:09:

^^ uhhhh, he's both. I mentioned it earlier that he's both. I didn't classify him as HT only.

Hard trance comes in two flavours, European and UK hard trance. European hard trance puts the emphasis on the "trance", while UK hard trance puts the emphasis on the "hard". European hard trance is like most epic or anthem trance, but the kick is harder and bassier, and the bassline is tougher. The BPM is higher and there tends to be harder sounds instead of uplifting sounds. UK hard trance is essentially hard house but with more melody, and more trancy synths instead of hard house synths.

Hardstyle is different to hard trance- I personally reckon it's closer to hardcore than anything. It has very harsh kicks and the snare drums tend to have a rough sound. There's also "bouncy" and saw effects in there, and the lead doesn't have much hook to it. There are a lot of cheesier hardcore elements as well- like daft vocals.

but thats a spot on description mate well done

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jun-29-2004 19:15:

Er... are you agreeing or disagreeing with me then?

Posted by Chang monkey on Jun-29-2004 19:57:

We can have this Shitty Debate whether an Artist is this 'Genre' or 'That' Genre. But IMO Lee Haslam and Artists like Guyver, do not make Hard House.

Typical Hard House:
Eufex & Jay B - Vacuum Packed
Karim - Clean & Heavy
Paul Maddox - Tension
Paul Glazby & Trauma - Fuck em all
Paul Glazy - Hostile (Nick Sentience Mix)
Ian M - Crazy Pills
Scott Cooper & Ali Wilson - Disease (Paul Maddox Remix)
Equinox - Tradesman
---------------------------------------

Have a listen to those and then Play something like Jx - Restless (Guyver Mix), or Lee Haslam - Music is The Drug. There is a Noticeable difference. The best term to use for these artists is 'UK Hard Trance'.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Jun-29-2004 20:05:

Indeed. There are also artists like BK and the Organ Donars that do a wide variety of styles, which include hard trance. The Organ Donars make things even more confusing by doing two versions of some tracks. They did a hard house version of Locked Tight, and a trance version called Locked Trance. They did the same with Rhythms Divine- the trance mix was called Rhythms Divine (Trance Intoxication), while the hard house was Rhythms Divine (Pound Your Senses).

Speaking of hard trance, I just got the new ID&T Hard Trance series release. (The 2004 edition.) It's damn cool. Jesselyn - Tonka owns me hard.

I second that.

what about trance generators especially tracks like:

the dancefloor (klasic and sanders rmx) - thats one of my favourites

connected - thats one of my favourites tracks

wildstyle generation

never in danger

for me its hardstyle, but some of their tracks sounds like hard trance

I think the same could be said about Derb - remixes and original productions alike, I just love their sound but I don't quite know how to define it.

Posted by Ezman on Jun-30-2004 03:35:

I believe that many hard trance tracks have a hardstyle influence. Some have less or no hardstyle influence (dumonde, cosmic gate). Or theres some hard trance artists with a fair bit of hardstyle influence, but maybe not enough to be considered 'hardstyle' (like scott project, hennes & cold, maybe derb) and then theres pure hardstyle (Lady Dana, Luna, etc).
Warmduscher, perhaps even Derb and similar artists id say would fit pretty much straight in the middle and contain a heavy influence of both hard trance and hardstyle.

Wrong. Jam-X & DeLeon were not and are NOT hardtrance. And, Sakin & Stenzel are hardtrance? You're out of your mind. Yoji is hardstyle.

p.s. Some of your comments in that post neither are necessary nor are required.
