Wow! I can't believe they won! All through the tournament i thought they would lose - to Portugal, to France, to Czech Republic, but they proved all the critics wrong, and now they are the champions. Athens will be going crazy......

Their defence was just too strong, it was their biggest strength all tournament, they had fantastic commitment and they have done it. I know it sounds corny, but they were a champion team, not just a team of champions.


at the streaker....hilarious! Why the hell would you jump head first into a net? He just bounced off it It was pretty funny how he threw the Barcelona flag at Figo too.

As I just knew, Ricardo would make an error in the final. He just couldn't end the ECH without fucking up in one game... it had to be in the final.
But it's not Ricardo's fault: we didn't play shit. Pauleta was a laugh, he shouldn't ever have played, as in the previous games he was a shadow of himself. Miguel had to come off before the half-time, being replaced with a guy that doesn't play half of what Miguel plays.
However, what's more laughable is that, in the streets, people are celebrating. ffs, we lost. What are we so happy about? The second place, our best classification ever? People never cease to amaze me...

The central point here is just one. Greece played better than us, so, Greece deserved to win. End of question.

PS: That streaker was the only thing that made me smile during the game... it was just crazy

the star of the game was the referee...Markus Merk (or whatever). He did a great job of not bending over and letting the Portuguese swan divers screw him up the ass like Meier and Fisk.

Portugal couldn't dive their way to victory this time and it looks great on them!

As the Portuguese said themselves 10 days ago - not good enough.

Greece were the better team and have beaten an overrated Portuguese side twice in three weeks. But they have also beaten France, the 'class' team of the tournament and reigning champions, and Czech Republic, the 'on form' team of the tournament. Portugal have played the same style in every game of this tournament and their play has become very predictable, and the Greeks certainly did their homework. The Greek defending was textbook. But the ultimate disgrace was Deco, diving at every opportunity and then campaigning vigorously at the referee, who was wise to it. That Barcelona fan running after Figo was hilarious, and then jumping into the net. Fantastic. Spiced up the game and added to the tension as it disrupted the game with only a few minutes to go.

Greece haven't been the most electrifying team in this tournament, but they've been consistent, feared noone and I couldn't think of more worthy winners.

PS. I also notice that only two teams scored in all their games, Greece and England

i'd like to know why the referee ended the game with 4:30 mins of extra time when the 4rd referee extended the time to 5 mins..it was 30s of precious time we could have scored
