Dog Running

I can't believe I missed this.

When will the next 1st birthday be?

.....oh.....right.

Posted by Sid on Aug-07-2004 07:22:

great set muli. Enjoyed the tech and prog madness.

Overall was not too bad a night. Spent the entire time downstairs and enjoyed muli's and Adam's sets. Adam tore it up undoubtedly and some of the highlights included

Tilt - The world doesn't know
Andro - Invisible
Madoka - Distant memories (Original mix)
James holden - Solstice
Nathan fake - Adamedge
Michael burns - Forwards
Gill Norris - Forme (Chable mix)
Sander K - My lexicon

although I felt a tiny bit uneasy due to the crowd at times (i'm not homophobic but geeze you have to draw the line somewhere) I still had a great night out.

the night was great, both rooms were going off!

i had fun going up to people i know and rubbing them up HAHAHA you should have seen the look on their face LOL, webby looked like he was gonna punch the shit out of me till he realised it was me LOL, it was funny how freaked out people were

both rooms were awesome, a little more sinage and i think the bottom room could be packed out.

Come on Sid. We all know you like to have a sausage sandwich every now and again With extra special sauce.

Set looks good muli and from all reports you rocked it. If you had Taotek in there then i would have been pissed i didnt go but Leama- Requiem for dream would have been a nice moment also.

I had a great time at work listening to a moby disk play some great tracks. Nut bush city limits comes to mind. One ill never forget

I had a really fun time

I must say Arq has a pretty damn good setup going on there!

my post from ITM :

Definitely an awesome awesome night, will have to attend more of these little shindigs

As a summary I'd have to say that eaaaaasily the room downstairs with muli/adam jace/scott baker was fucking pumping. I heard so so many good tunes last night. I knew it was gunna be a good night when i got there and i heard A break in the clouds being played .

Heres my review on the individual sets :

Upstairs :

Diggs and Morro :
Only caught the last 30 mins of their set and it was exactly what i expected. I walked in to the night hearing solarcoaster, and heard the usual stuff from them. Fun, but boring.

Joshua van Aalst vs Marishka
1 word people : CHEEEEEEESY. This is the sort of set that completely turns me off uplifting trance. I think i heard like 6 vocal tracks in a row while i was upstairs, and the mixing from the pair was pretty bad. I actually had to walk out on several occassions, im glad i did tho cos muli was ripping it up downstairs.

Scott Richardson vs Cameron O'Shea
These kids rocked it. I enjoyed their set heaps. Easily the best trance set of the night. After the previous set i was very apprenhensive to come back upstairs but these guys made it worth it. Mad props to playing No one on earth

(didnt see stama vs rob unfortunately)

Downstairs:

Scott Baker
I really really enjoyed this guys set. I was only there for about 20 mins before i was unfortunately forced upstairs by my other mates. Really nice melodic shit tho, awesome.

Muli
Mr muli man, well done. That was one of the most refreshing sets ive heard in ages. Fat prog, some psy, some techy shit. LOVIN IT. My only regret for the night was not letting my friends fuck off to upstairs and stay down there listening to some awesome tunes. I caught probably an hour of the set in total and it was my favourite set of the night!! I tried to find you afterwards cos I wanted to ask you about a couple of tracks you played, ahh well. Oh, mad props to carly as well who i met funnily enough, she's definitely a cool chick!

Adam Jace:
Again after being forced to alternate from both rooms , i caught various bits of your set. As with the rest of the guys in the prog room that night your set was really enjoyable, didnt hear a bad track the whole time i was there. Was loving it when Solstice was played

(didn't see Eddie Coutler)

Next time i'll have to meet more of you mofo's as well, i think the only ppl i spotted were Webby at one point, and Muli cos he was playing

Whens the next ANOT?!

Sorry about my delayed response but I wanted to finalise a couple of details before responding.

What a night. By gosh the Sydney uplifting trance scene is alive and kicking. A Night Of Trance completely packed out ARQ with huge numbers coming through the door. Around 100 more people came through the door than at the July event. In fact the numbers were so high that for the next event we will be selling tickets.... more on this later

It's quite weird as I was really worried that we couldn't top the July 2nd event, but by gosh we didn't just topple it. It was buried!

I thought the lineup worked fantastically. All the sets flowed very well into each other and all the vs DJ's worked seamlessly together. Diggs n Morro had the floor absolutely pumping by 11:30pm! Myself and Marishka worked everyone up into a frenzy. Scott Richardson and Cameron O'Shea played a top quality 100% professional set and Rob and Stama what can I say. You guys kept the crowd till 6am which is a really hard task to do especially for a Friday night event.

Their was so many people left in the club at 6am that I ended up playing a special morning anthems set downstairs till 7am.

I am also extremely happy that Scott at the last minute, convinced me to hire extra lasers for the event. I think it really filled the space much better than the standard ARQ laser setup.

I must congratulate and thank all the people who made the event possible: Scott, Karren, Gabriel, Nikki, Amanda, Johnny, Doni, Michelle, James and of course all the DJs (Scott, Cam, Stama, Rob, Diggs, Morro, Muli, Adam, Scott Baker, Eddie).

Finally Doully that T-Shirt was amazing definitely free entry for you to the next event.

Well what next????

On September 24th 2004 Sydney's biggest uplifting trance night will be joining forces with Melbourne's biggest uplifting trance night. Prepare yourself for:

A Night Of Trance with 5am!!!

Featuring:

Steve Strangis (5am)
Albert Mangler (5am)
Scott Richardson (A Night Of Trance)
Diggs n Morro (A Night Of Trance)
Joshua van Aalst (A Night Of Trance)

Please note that more 5am and A Night Of Trance DJ's will be announced in the coming weeks. In fact we are flying most of the 5am crew up for the event!

The lineup for this event will probably so huge that we will have to spread out across both floors.

As mentioned above full details for this event will be announced in the coming weeks.

Finally thanks to everybody who has come to the events and made A Night Of Trance so special. It is you all that makes the event what it is!

Josh

P.S. The large T-Shirts will be available in Central Station Records and One Stop Dee Jay next week. Smaller and tighter sizes are coming. Their arrival will be announced via the mailing list.

great night josh well done

Pretty impressive night. Was glad i went. Lasers were full on! Loved 'em, you should have had more! Upstairs very good, downstairs amazing. Didn't really get the whole lemming facing the stage thing when i walked in..hehe..but it was funny...looked like everyone was hypnotised..(in a trance?). But as the night went on so did the dancing and the great music. I do wish more good vocal trance was played, (addicted 2 it, + I don't think Josh's set was 'cheesy'.. though i guess people have their own definitions of what is cheese and what isn't etc), but i guess you can't please every1 .

One thing which you should do Josh, is get the music being played upstairs to pump into the mens/ladies downstairs (that's what usually happens at ARQ, and i was suprised to hear it wasn't on the night), i know that sounds a bit dumb...but it's just good if you're downstairs you can listen to what playin upstairs when you're in there trying to fill up your water bottle with ARQ's fukt up taps.

But yeh thanks for a great night, I think we're all pretty lucky to have events like this in Sydney.

Posted by Romp on Aug-09-2004 09:19:

I had my bum felt up but I dont really mind, I know I am one sexy hunk of man meat!

ever noticed towards the end of the night all the fuckin homos start rolling in for the leftovers.

Posted by pho mo on Aug-09-2004 10:28:

I had a great "leemur" moment. At one stage I was in the middle of the crowd, completely smashed... Popped my head up above everyone and slowly looked around the whole room.... there was frickin lasers coming from every angle, all around!

damn, those lasers! awesome lighting! and a great night

haha sorry guys that came across the wrong way. I am no way against gays haha, in fact probably one of the most , i dont really care if your gay or not person. I just dont appreciate it when they TRY so hard to make it obvious, i mean it is a mainly straight event they could at least try and act a little more decent ?

*sigh* i don't really want to clog up Josh's thread with this crap but 'gays' (aka people, aka human beings) don't have to 'act' in any other way other than how they want to, and the same goes for everyone else on the planet.

Fair enough people have issues with other people and how they pereive them, but you are so grossly over generalising it's..well...mean.

Anyway.. not gunna preach...up to you or to whoever agrees with you to figure out how hurtful comments like that can be.

there is no way this WONT deviate off to the gay conversation now..

but here's my 2cents to help it keep rolling..

the fact is, nicknack is correct in a generalising way.. This does happen.. They swarm in, see what they can grab thats on the way up, or way too happy and go back and f*CK it senseless till the morning.. However, its nto really any different from the same things that happen at straight clubs either.. Guys hunting from place to place to find a girl intoxicated enough to fcuk. Its just seemingly more socially acceptable, which is what alot of this comes down to.

What I dont like is the uncomfortable feeling they give me, and how INDESCREET they are.. and many of you may argue, that well tahts my issue, but i don't necessarily think it is just mine. I mean i've only really started to realise the uncomfortableness that woman have to go through at the hands of scumbag men, and now it appears that some guys have to go through it too at the hands of seedy gay men...

For Both Sexes, it is unfair... But there ain't much we can do about it unfortunately..

So what if gay guys try to pick you up? How do you think girls feel in straight venues like Jackson's on George, The Coogee Palace, The Paragon e.t.c. Their are always sleazy smashed guys their trying to hit on the girls. It happens both ways. It is nothing to do with whether someone is gay or not. Their are always places where drunk desperate people try to hit on others. Just cause it is currently more sociably acceptable for guys to hit on girls rather than guys to hit on guys or girls to hit on girls doesn't make it fundamentally different.

If someone tries to hit on you just say no.
