Hairy muff..

At the end of the day I know what Im comfortable doing. Ive been DJing in "proper" clubs up and down the country for over 2 years now. And thats my opinion, Im sure you know better though. Who am I to give my take on it when someone asks for advice..

One thing I will say though. Think of the length of your earphone wire, then think of the length of the wire that runs to the monitor. How much longer is it? and how muci longer will it take for the signal to travel to the monitor?

Exactly...

I think he means the delay of the sound.

Somewhere he's right, but he's wrong about the length of the wire.
The electricity that is send by your mixer is in your headphones, monitor en club system about the same time. Even when the speakers of the club system are 100m away from you it's there about the same time. The human ear couldn't notice the difference.

The speed of electricity is somewhere between the speed of light and the speed of sound. And that last one is the problem.

You won't notice the delay in sound when you compare your headphones whit the monitor. The monitor is almost in your head .
But the speakers of the club system are removed a couple of meters from you. It gives a delay that you could notice and more worse, that banging sounds bounces agains the walls and comes back to you several times in just a small piece of a second.
