-- Why do many trance fans ignore the 'psychedelic' side?

I dont really listen to much psy at all, but I just saw John 00 Fleming and he was great. Almost his entire set was filled with psy tracks and he had the crowd loving every minute of it. I really enjoyed myself, because the music was good of course, and for the fact that it was something kinda new and refreshing.

And I'd really like to know some of the tracks he played that night too!

But I do remember way back when I was getting into EDM in like 95 or 96 and not buying some psychedelic trance cd's because they were made by guys in Israel. Needless to say that was very stupid thinking at the time, but I was much younger and dumber then. I just needed to grow up a bit and not give a shit about such cultural differences and stuff. All part of growing up I guess.

That is all.

Don't really like psy trance so I dont listen much. I can't take it as much as 'normal' trance.

I recently heard a theory about demon posession being a part of the reason for certain kinds of music, so I was doodling while listening to a psy set and man the stuff I was drawing, made me wonder if it was power of suggestion....

I've experienced the music "dancing" me before.

I miss the cross overs like Man with no name.

Because they think it's for stinky hippies :P

I love the occasional outdoor festival to get my psy fix.

You mean you miss the oldschool goa sound, cos that's what MWNN represents

its probably 'ignored' because they haven't really heard any, have heard it and think its too trippy and wierd or haven't heard it but hear its all hippy music and you need to be on drugs to enjoy it. some of it works and some of it doesnt work like all music. to me there seems to be a lot more of it than uplifting trance but its not as popular in some areas as others. it might be hard to get into, or maybe people dont want to get into it

Human Blue - Electrolux (if the lush breakdown on Rollercoaster doesn't get you, what will? J00F commands you!)

Son Kite - Colours (pretty much the monument of the year, BE SURE to hear "On Air" and give it a chance, this tune is massive)

yesss!!! the son kite album is bonza!
'demon dance' is my favourite on electrolux

not danceable, not uplifting or energetic, annyoying repetitve, to "electronic" sounds, not musical. The whole goa scene was started by hippies so tht kinda turned me off and explained the shitty soundz. Good music if your on drugs though but not for the clubs

lol, my thoughts exactly!

Regarding Son Kite's On Air. Love the track to bits but I wouldn't call it psy. It's more of a quality trance stomper pre-1998 IMO

^ thats the point - there's plenty of "psy" that you wouldn't call psy after hearing it, but it's all dismissed out of hand... Human Blue in particular has tons of stuff like this - far more epic than psychedelic.
