You know.. I can actually admit that I've been freaked out when a guy (on date # 1-2) shows up with flowers/gift and insists on paying for everything... AND in MOST cases these guys didn't work out

I know I feel like crap about it. In my situation, I know that when it seems like ive been treated a LOT in a while, I come up with other ways to treat him back. Everything counts. I'll take my small amount of $$ and go to the grocery store to buy something which I can actually cook, that way, its much more special, because im acutally taking the time to create something for him. Youd be surprised how even the simplest bowl of home made chicken noodle soup can make a guy feel treated. But I know and he knows that If I had more $$ Id definitely offer to pay.

I always offer to pay... 100% of the time... thats just the way i was raised

Agreed. It's called chivalry.

Tip for the guys: a little chivalry goes a long way... try it sometime.

Yes, a long way towards firmly establishing yourself as someone to be taken advantage of.

Yes, exactly.
Well said dude!

Because i'm not in it for the sex alone. And even if i were, she'd still put out sooner for a man who has principles and isn't afraid to stand up for them. And why would i reward her with anything BUT sex FOR sex? She's enjoying it even more than i am!

Posted by starsearcher on Aug-03-2004 20:20:

Yeah seriously if you want to pay for sex you can always get a hooker...no point in spending time on stupid dinners and dates anyways just pay and let her do the work

This is the biggest generalization EVER.

If you don't know any of them, how can you say that you know why they are doing something?

and who said "everything imaginable?" I said paying for dinner, movies, etc. If that is the extent of your imagination, then I pity the women you date...

I 100% agree with StereoPrincess - women want equality, of course, but until equality in the workplace is a reality (and it's NOT), don't try to claim that women are hypocritical feminists who want to have their cake and eat it too.

This thread is frustrating.

I've never heard of a woman sleeping with a guy because he "stuck to his guns" and refused to pay for a date.

seriously dude it goes like this. if you kick her around a bit, she'll put out a lot likelier then if you spend $$$ on her. then she'll just try to suck more and more off you, why would she put out, cause then you'll most likely be done with her. she'll try to leach and leach as long as she can keeping you hopeful. i know it sounds counterproductive but its the truth.

no one said you shouldn't be nice. we just said don't be suckered.

but besides it doesn't even matter, like he said he's not in it for the sex any more

I wonder what his dates would think about his stance on equality if they read his Thailand thread...

Posted by Vivid Boy on Aug-03-2004 20:59:

i believe whoever has cash on them should pay..and if neither one has cash on them they should skip the date and go straight to bonin

You honestly think that if equality in the workplace was a reality, that women would give up on the sweeter parts of the deal? I highly doubt it.

In my opinion, something as general as "equality in the workforce" shouldn't be used as an argument here. I would agree with you if it were half a century ago when it would be completely unheard of for a woman to be making more than a man. But now, it is definately possible for a women to be earning more than a man. You just said yourself that the you've made more money than the past few boyfriends you've had. So if this is the case, please tell me why there is always an underlying expectation for the guy to pick up the tab when the bill comes? That's pretty much assuming that the guy makes more money than the girl.
