Hahaha that's so funny...very cute pic ...Yeah he is missing his suit. I still don't understand though...there was so much talk about the full body suit from Speedo before the Olympis and I don't see anyone wearing it...

By the way...does anyone else LOVE the jackets that the Japanese team has OMG ITS SO SICK I want one so bad!

Posted by Nalin on Aug-17-2004 02:03:

well some ppl are wearing the suits, or partial suits (ie. only legs, or legs and body but shoulders exposed).

if you're asking do they work, you better believe it.

as to why not every one is using one, thats a good question.

Posted by starsearcher on Aug-17-2004 02:09:

Well Thorpe is the ONLY one wearing a full body suit, and he's wearing an Arena suit...not even Speedo

Olympic organizers boost security after Canadian fan leaps into pool
Last Updated: Tue Aug 17 09:16:11 EDT 2004

CBC SPORTS ONLINE - Olympics organizers have increased security at all sports venues after an unidentified Canadian spectator plunged into a swimming pool during a diving competition.

The man, bare-chested and sporting a blue tutu, scampered onto the pool deck and climbed to an adjoining diving board during the men's synchronized three-metre springboard event on Monday.

He jumped into the pool after about a minute atop his perch and was immediately apprehended by security officials at the Olympic Aquatic Centre.

The man, who was not identified by police, was arrested and questioned by a prosecutor.

Although the spectator appeared to have harmless intentions, Olympic officials took the breach seriously.

Organizers have spent an unprecedented amount on Olympic security and the incident exposed a hole in the supposed impenetrable safety ring at venues.

"We are going to put security guys around the field of play," Marton Simitsek, an Athens 2004 executive, told the Associated Press on Tuesday.

Olympic organizers said the man was trying to send a love message to his wife by getting on TV.

However, the message painted on his chest appeared to be the website address for an online gaming website.

The fan disruption turned the competition on its head.

The top-ranked Chinese duo Kenan Wang and Bo Peng appeared headed toward certain victory before the intrusion. However, after the incident, one of the Chinese divers landed on his back on his final dive and the team received zeros across the board.

Russian Dmitry Sautin then knocked himself on the board and American brothers Justin and Tony Dumais worked themselves out of a medal position with a missed landing.

Unheralded Greeks Nikolaos Siranidis and Thomas Bimis won the gold. It was the host country's first gold of the Games.

Hmmmm this morning were the heats for 100M freestyle (swimming) which is a huge competition, really exciting and the Americans really f-ed up which is really unusual...regardless we had 2 Canadians in the race and one of them was Rick Say who swam so well in the 200...but for both of them it says DNS which means Did Not Start... Why didn't they swim??

They did really well in the relay though so I'm looking forward to that. But another surprise, Thorpe didn't swim the Ausie relay 200m freestyle which he just won wtf is going on???

Posted by starsearcher on Aug-17-2004 18:43:

So the news so far..

Phelps got another Gold medal in 200 butterfly...
Popov is out of the 100 freestyle finals and Thorpe barely got in...

And USA is now tied with China on medal count (16), however China has 10 Golds and USA only 5

1-2-3 for romania-usa-russia in womens team gymnastics

also in the 3rd of mens basketball

usa 53 greece 44

Posted by starsearcher on Aug-17-2004 20:31:

Sweet...I think Greece can beat USA in basketball no problem...they have awesome long range shooters I know...

Too bad Russia's only 3rd in Gymnastics...but then again better than last night's men's contest

Posted by loca on Aug-17-2004 21:16:

Worship Thorpe all you want but the man barely qualified for the final tomorrow (he qualified eighth in the semis)

And Romania won the gold in gymnastics! Go Romania!!

ok, everytime I turn on the TV I see everything but volleyball, basketball, soccer and water-polo... am I missing something here, or is the coverage of the games just shite?!

I don't know if you watched the breast stroke semis but another weird thing is the Brit swimmer got eliminated. Apparently he "fly kicked" while swimming. The Canadian, Mike Brown (i think that's his name) came second though!

Also in other news, the second best British rider is out of the equestrian competition because his horse went lame Sad for the Brits, more of a chance for the rest of the competitors though hehe. Such is life!

And btw, Thorpe _did_ swim in the relay, he was the last swimmer in for the Aussie team.

$$$!

i think Bulgaria, Mongolia, and North Korea still have more medals than us and they even sent fewer athletes .. don't worry we'll pick up when our events come around .. i hope.

Posted by StereoPrincess on Aug-17-2004 22:38:

I think Canada will do well in rowing.

They have so many good teams in rowing.

Our teams are doing well so far...so we'll have to wait and see what happends The men's baseball team is doing AWESOME and women are doing great too...BTW why isn't US participating in baseball?

Behold, my arse. yay Canada

Posted by starsearcher on Aug-18-2004 01:15:

Yep...that's that stupid Casino place that did all those stunts during Euro, golf championships, they are the ones that bought Beckham's ball (won the ebay bid) and etc...shame really With all that money money they make, they could at least pay for decent advertising.

I was just watching the interview with the Canadian relay team and Rick Say... ...everyone is like...man we did OKAY...not bad...we're not really happy but we are happy ...and then Rick Say...we sucked, this is crap, i'm pissed off...I wanted a medal...i'm really pissed off...this is crap That guy is brilliant...he was blaming himself mostly though so that's cool, regardless though he seems like a cool guy

I watched that entire race and i really give props to Rick Say for saying what he did. it's frustrating sometimes to watch our athletes simply be satisfied with just "being" there and not medalling. Rick definately showed the conviction that it really takes for an athlete to medal in that sort of competition..

i hope more of our athletes take on this type of attitude. if u really want something i think u gotta show and prove it. it's all about the hunger to win..

u gotta love a guy like rick say....
took the loss like a MAN.
we need MORE canadians with this attitude so we can win MANY more medals....

I just realized that the lady that does the morning show from Athens on CBC really annoys me...I can't even pin point what is it about her that really bothers me...her HUGE eyes, weird looking nose, the weird enthusiasm...Couldn't they get someone better looking at least? I like the evening guy he's cool...and most of the commentators so far have been ok...I especially love the boxing guys they are so funny and hyper But that morning lady really gets on my nerves

In other news...that dumbass that jumped off the diving platform got 5 months in jail but was released after appeal and bail...

The Canadian beach vollyball guys lost to the Ausies today And rowers were disqualified after allegedly hitting the South African boat

So far the only wins are comming from the little blue cow

By the way...I was thinking about it the other day...the little blue cow...is a cow...so it's a female...so how come it competes with men in most of these commercials?

Oh yeah...did anyone see that INSANE volleyball match between Italy and Brazil INCREDIBLE...
