<---- Ain't it obvious? Family Guy hands down.

Don't get me wrong, I've watched the Simpsons for many, many years, but they just can't beat family guy. Not even when Conan was writing. For one thing, the Simpsons was always funny but the truly great episodes only came along once and a while. FG on the other hand, you just can't say anything bad about any of its episodes. They all rock.

Why are Chris and Meg even in the show??? I've never seen then doing something funny or interesting in all episodes... Everytime Chris says or does something it ruins it for me..

And it's true that it's harder to compare since family guy has been on for less long, it's still fresh, etc. We'd have to compare in like 7 years when we've seen every episodes like 10 times (as I have of the simpsons)

i'd have to go with the simpsons but i have to admit that lately they've been going down hill..

Simpsons = Oakenfold, an old classic that is holding on for a little too long. Family Guy hands down for this one.. the funniest, most clever show on television.

Now: Family Guy
All Time: Simpsons

Family guy has a long way to go until it can be better than Simpsons in my book, but it also has the potential; 5 or 6 great seasons should do the trick...

My vote goes for Family Guy. It's more of adult humor and I always crack up when I see it. Gotta agree that the simpson have been really funny before but as of late they don't do it for me anymore. Of course I'm referring to the new episodes and not the classics. Gotta agree with Simpsons being for a younger crowd.

hence, why Tweek likes Simpsons

Family guy is extremely funny but I think the Simpsons win in the longrun.

having a talkign dog and baby doesnt make it childish, it sounds as thought you are a little young yourself. maybe you don't understand the intelligent humour that comes from both Stewie and Brian's mouths?! It humourous when they talk, and no simpsons character has the depth that either of these two do in terms of character and humour. simpsons humour is short, cheap & cheerful one liners- easy for kids to understand. i'm not saying it's bad, it just you need half a brain to get some of the family guy jokes (you get the cheap jokes aswell from the likes of peter)

Posted by Fundamental on Aug-19-2004 01:53:

Also Family Guy isn't scared to crack a few possibly offensive jokes in there too...

Peter: Make like Siamese twins and split ... and then one of you die.

and of course...

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humour.

Dont even go there with offensive religious Jokes with the simpsons. Most of the time when the simpsons are at Church theres always some kind of offensive scene towards religion.

Posted by enferno on Aug-19-2004 02:30:

Bart: "Wow, God is so in your face"
Homer: "He's my favorite fictional character"

I personally tend to think the FG is more inclined to childish humour as it is more pain and insult based. While I do agree the FG is good, however, I do think it's a bit overated. This may be because there hasn't been a really funny cartoon while the Simpsons have been on air (ie. a very long time).

Fg humour is IMO more abrupt, quick and obvious. There's hardly any jokes you don't get the first time. The Simpson's, OTOH, have more varied and clever humour (I must first say that i'm talking about the golden years, not the last 4-5 years). Some jokes I would get perhaps after seeing the very same show a hundred times. This often happens after seeing a movie that is being made fun of (try to name one at least semi popular movie that the Simpson's did not poke fun at). Simply put, The Simpson's at its best is the funniest/best sitcom or show of all time.

One reason i think many people like Family Guy more now is because, like I've already mentioned, almost everyone has seen some Simpson's episodes perhaps hundreds of times. At the same time, it is also a testamant to the longevity and repeat viewings ability of the Simpsons.
