definitely would have to be Tiesto... all of his old stuff (sets) were amazing. Many other dj's were/are equally as amazing..etc. AvB, Corsten, PvD... and so on. But I would definitely let them listen to the old Tiesto.

Which sets of Tiesto in particular would you recommend?

I don't think one artist just does it for some people. I usually like to show whoever asks, a wide range of artists because I find that showing them one, usually puts them off.

To be honest, I give them mine or friends of mine. Not only are they good, but they are more open to a cd from a friend. If I were to give out headline dj's work it would be: Tranceport or Tiesto @ Energy 2000.

My mate, who didn't like or know much about trance, was blown away by Insigma - Open Our Eyes when he heard it on an old mixtape of mine, so maybe some quality melodic stuff? Also Push stuff seems to work, Legacy and Strange World have got good catchy melodies.

I don't think I'd play anything more commercial than these tunes, I wanna give people a good impression of what I'm into

I know exactly what you were suggesting. It's cool though.

I've already done this will all my friends...and the track they all like is...

Andain - Beautiful Things

depending on what they listen to right now... you pick a EDM genre that follows the same sort of rythmn or flow... so if its a chick and shes into Pop, then you would prolly want to introduce her to something along the lines of vocal trance, then when she's into that and understands more about the music get her into more hardER trance, then into some banging club PVD style Tech trance, then into Goa/Psy-trance and have her tripping on Acid....

thats just an example.. but usually someone will like an genre you introduce them to if it is similar to what they already listen too...

Rap/Hip-hop --> breaks or funky house
Pop/Chart Toppers --> Vocal/melodic Trance
Rock/Punk --> Hardstyle/Techno
Country --> let them suffer.....

This doesn't really answer your question to WHICH DJ tho... so its a pointless post...

What is Deep Dish? Are they trance, progressive, deep house?

I just found this live set by Satoshi Tomiie in Moscow and was just wondering about his style too.

Who the fuck cares. If you can be of help then post or else stfu.

Personally, I wouldn't really introduce a producer. A compilation would be a better idea. I gave my friend Euphoria Level 1 and he freaked.

Compilation: Euphoria Level 1/Magik 1/Trance Nation 1
Artist: Armin/BT/Above and Beyond

I converted two of my friends from rap to trance thanks to Paul Van Dyk, DJ Tiest and a few other artists.

Posted by Cloud on Oct-25-2004 18:45:

my friend got into trance when he heard Tiesto and Holymen....
I would choose Push too!

Sounds like a religious conversion to go from rap to EDM/Trance. Now if you can only get them to go to The Church of The Tranceaddict.com.

depends on the person, but i would say chicane, for most of my friends.

Agreed. Chicane is what brough a lot of my friends into the scene. Also Sasha and Oakenfold a while back. IMO, expander is one of the best tracks to introduce people to trance with.

You know what I learned why some people dont like trance. Well its said that people, you know who never heard of trance, will most likely not find it interesting due to, its repetitive music. Like I had this one friend, who never listened to trance, he has heard about it, and he happened to find a trance station, at first he didnt find it interesting, but then he kept on listening to it and he got used to it and liked it.

Thats one reason why I believe some people when they first hear Trance, say "you like this"?. I get kinda mad and tell them they should listen to it at least for a while before saying its crap. Especially my sister, she borrowed one of my breaks/trance cd and after a while listening to it on her car cd player, she started liking it.

Its funny cause I dont remember at all what was the first track I listened too that was trance. I started with that crappy techno music that you get off of p2p programs like Imesh and Kazza and shit. Well they were mostly those video game remixes shit(I thought it was amazing back then)

But if I had to thank one person it would be my cousin for intruducing me to electronic music. Later though my friend put on this cd in my cuosins truck, man this shit sounded so good(keep in mind I havent listened to trance)and I told him where the hell do you get this music. He gave me a site, and I went there and downloaded it, thats when I left Techno for breakbeats. Then from listening for like a year of just breakbeats, I found my one true passion in life "Trance Music". Man I left everything and now Trance is the best. I still listen to some breakbeat cds I have, and like Hard House also but that music doesnt compare to how I feel about Trance.

Well on with the topic,lol. I would say Tiesto, but for newbish people, I would have to say, stuff thats already Mainstream and plays in clubs and shit. Like that Dj Sammy-Heaven. Now dont get me wrong, I only say this, so they can get a taste of what Trance is sort of like, then once they get use to it, move on to more better stuff.
