djr-man, it's all about the mindset with them.

See, most critics go in seeing them expecting them to be great DJs ... but they aren't superstart DJ quality when it comes to mixing...I know that, so I go to their gigs to simply have a blast and enjoy the tunes they play, because they play a shitload of tracks that I personally love and few other DJs play.

It's all about just going to see them, and partying to great music...not going to see how good they are as DJs.

I personally can handle a few bad mixes here or there if it's not flat out wrecks. In my four or five times seeing them (three being 5+ hour gigs), I can only one recall one flat out major wreck...maybe two. And I can say that everytime I've heard them, they've been better...well, other than the first time I heard them when they were flawless and beautiful and blew everyone away opening for Tiesto here in SF. Their Fortdance set is AWESOME, me thinks.

Well for me its different... Not many djs I can enjoy.. and believe me its not the wrecks that worry me.. Its the Programming and making a good set.. Thats y I try not to get into it too much and get out smoke and come back or somethin.. I saw tiesto 4 times and tried to enjoy him .. Just couldnt.. Had to leave after 30 40 minutes of him djing.. same with every single Dj (who knows about djing) I know that has seen him had walked out.. Djing isnt about putting good tracks on.. Its about giving them a journey.. Making them dance... By the way G&D are skillfull when it comes to beatmatching and all.. but every set i have heard from them (NO OFFENCE DAVE) I got bored the fuck out.. Its just been a set like this from begining to end ___________________________. But who am I to judge.. I just say what I have thought... But if they can make many others happy let them.. Anyways whos goin to Digweed Tomorrow?

Posted by PhaseFour on Aug-31-2004 16:03:

yeah, im going just cause u dont normally see this many DJs (good/bad/whatever) on the street just messin around and having a good time.

anyhow, im about to make plans now, and i got some questions:

1) how can i easily go from SBC park/wherever the heck this ends to the civic center? some friends/family i have in SF claim that its almost impossible to walk so is there some sort of public transport?

2) dave, what kind of info do u got on those afterparties? like, is it gonna be 18+, the times, etc?

thanks, hope to see y'all there!

i hope there are more big name dj's to be announced.

Posted by djr-man on Aug-31-2004 18:46:

I hope not. This line up looks as perfect as it can get..

Posted by S-a-M-u-E-l on Aug-31-2004 18:56:

djr-man are you the one on the nerve-entertainment float?

Posted by djr-man on Aug-31-2004 19:10:

Yes.

Who else would you wanna see at this parade? PVD? TIESTO? lol

Posted by S-a-M-u-E-l on Aug-31-2004 19:16:

nah, but im from chicago, so its cool that your spinning for nerve entertainment. Nah im not even that big of a trance fan. I like the lineup so far, in fact im pleasantly surprised with the names, but it would be cool to have a few more to choose from. nonetheless, i anticipate a good time, even though I'm going to be there for just a weekend.

Posted by djr-man on Aug-31-2004 21:14:

Oh yea having more talent can never hurt You coming with any of the guys from nerve or what?

Posted by S-a-M-u-E-l on Aug-31-2004 22:05:

nah. I'm only 17, which is why love parade is a godsend for me. an all ages event which allows me to see some awesome talent. I've never been to a nervent event, but i know they have a reasonable presence in chicago.

Deffenetely.. But are you coming? or parents strict...

Posted by S-a-M-u-E-l on Aug-31-2004 22:10:

nah im going...my sister lives out there, so she secretly got me a plane ticket for my birthday. She was also one of the first people to start to volunteer for LP, so i assume I'll be able to see some behind the scenes shit! Nonethless, I'm pretty excited. Heh, my mom only showed some concern about the gay people attending the festival. Whatever. Parents are too old fashioned!
