No, my beliefs are based on observation, experience, and logic. Religious beliefs, in contrast, are based on the baseless acceptance of religious dogma.

In my case, the belief is derived from empirical data and valid induction or deduction - by definition it is not "blind" because it is derived from observation. When it comes to religion, no such empirical evidence exists and the associated logic is invariably invalid.

If you feel my reasoning is wrong then why don't you raise a logically valid objection to it instead of throwing around pointless non sequiturs like usual?

Do you know what the odds of life on Earth are? If you don't believe that something is out there that you cannot understand (A supernatural force or God, you choose), you are foolish. The odds of this all to exist the way it does by chance is infinitesmily small.

that's the key word in your post. you're basing your views on a possibility, but there is no way to be absolutely certain there is indeed something/-one out there.

if anyone is foolish, it's you for believing in the existence of a supernatural entity with "odds" as the only thing to back up that belief.

as for having premarital sex, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever not to.

There are several reasons, and I really don't want to get into a two hour debate about it. I respect everyone's views, regardless. You believe what you believe, and I'll do the same. Neither of us will know for sure until we die. And if you're right, we won't know, cause it'll just end.

Damn it!!!! It is finally clear to me why I couldn't let go of the George Michael tapes I have carried around on 4 moves..... he sure is profound !!!

hmmmm..... George Michael RULES and as of this very moment, I vow to do it as often as I want....Doh! I meant as often as I can....

I fully support the concept of premarital sex.

ouch hahaha...

but seriously...nothing wrong with fuckin'

Posted by Slylee on Sep-13-2004 16:38:

This thread is really just about religion. If you are a serious Christian/religious person then its a given that you are against it. But if you arent religious at all and/or just spiritual, I dont see anything wrong with engaging in premarital sex, just as long as you dont screw anything that walks, or hurt people while doing it (emotionally). As long as its in a loving relationship, I think its fine. It all just boils down to whether or not you have morals I guess.

If you don't plan on getting married how can the sex be "premarital"?

Yeah, I remember you telling me about how you were cheating with lefty ...

Posted by cviper on Sep-13-2004 16:50:

I'll just quote an advertisment we've got here in sweden (translated):

"Sex is good for your health. Have more."

That pretty much sums it up.

so now getting married is a requirement if you want to be with someone for the rest of your life?

Well, it isn't a requirement per s, but it makes sense for several reasons.

Posted by TOR on Sep-13-2004 17:10:

yeah, i can think of several reasons too, but her post makes it seem as though getting married is the only logical thing to do when you love someone.

Posted by Slylee on Sep-13-2004 17:16:

no, you don't have to get married at all. i'm pretty mixed about it myself. even though its romantic to think about a beautiful wedding, I think that once the big day came around, I would be freaking out thinking, oh my god, this is it...youre DONE!

Posted by NiteMer on Sep-13-2004 18:05:

Going lefty's not nearly as good as righty. I've tried. I know.
