"'Bout that time eh chap?" "Righto"!

Something I been noticing here on TA is some ppl putting "GG" in their posts. Totally baffles my mind.

"gg" used to mean "good game," but these days it means more along the lines of "I owned you."

Heh, interesting...

I'll tell ya what else.

In Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, if you select to play with BOTS, and you win a round with them, sometimes your bot teammates say things, including "OWNED!" And "I am dangerous!"

Heh, when I heard him say "OWNED!" in CS, it made me really think that the creators REALLY pay attention to the lingo of online players. It was hilarious, but also a prime example of how intarweb lingo (or if it ain't, so sue me) affects some aspects of everyday life.

Hehe...Thx. It's one of my personal favs. Think I'll bump the old "Fav. Movie of all Time" thread as well.

Well, with me and my friends, the use of sarcasm and internet terminology around others has advanced so severely that in almost every phrase we say we end up saying some kind of random internet word. i.e In spanish a kid might answer a question incorrectly and then one of us will shout aloud, "What are you, some kind of jooblarmos?". Though we really mean, " What are you, some kind of noob?". Even then not many understand what we are saying.

Also, we enjoy using phrases from computer games such as Diablo, Everquest, etc. i.e. Someone walks into the classroom and we randomly shout, "Welcome friend, stay a while and listen!". Which Deckard Cain actually says if you can remember. It doesnt make any sense whatsoever, but that is what makes it so hilarious when people stare at you like you are crazed.

my friends and i always say

"WTF"

"owned"

"n00b"
pwned, etc.

the lingo catches on quickly. thanks to the intranet

Posted by stren on Oct-11-2004 07:53:

Wow I have nothing against writing "lol", "OMG" etc. but actually saying the acronym instead of its actual meaning is just stupid, and it proves how big of a nerdz u r

+1, and it's phuckin phun to say n00b or owned to a friend who doesn't know the internet terminology, you say n00b and he's like *is that good or bad?*

Posted by cozzmik on Nov-02-2004 11:06:

huh... I never thought of "I heart you" as an internet term, been saying that off and on since before I ever saw it written on a computer screen. guess I am a total noob and didn't even know it!

I am so underwhelmed.

sometimes I say 'stfu', but I pronounce it stoofoo, and I call people noobs sometimes. that's as far as I go, really

I'm trying to spread that one around my job...

Posted by smokeape on Nov-03-2004 01:41:

I use the same terminology in interoffice e-mails quite often, and (surprisingly) some folks don't know WTF I'm talking about. It gets irritating when a Noob doesn't know basic terminology.

Yeah, seriously. Especially in this day and age. I mean, it's surprising how many people don't know what "LOL" means. To them it could be an abbreviated word for lollypop or some shit.
