Google sucks ass lately. I can't find what i'm looking for anymore because advertisers and sites have figured the search engine out, and made it so that the results come back with them spamming it. Also, I hear there's a spyware out there that makes it way worse. Google sucks.

Hopefully its driving directions are good. edit: driving directions must need some work. Aurora to Toronto is 552 miles and you go through Niagra to get there. Hahaha, you drive from Aurora to Niagra, go AROUND lake Ontario to Kingston and back down the 401 from Kingston to Toronto. Who knew. |

That's some swanky map software..
Haven't read all posts in here, so maybe this had already been posted:

GOOGLE MOVIES
Google Movies:
Put the name of any movie currently running in the theater and it will give you a link in the result page with a movie reel.
Click on the movie reel and you get something like this:
Robots Movie: http://www.google.com/reviews?cid=b...times&fq=robots
It provides a listing of reviews (with links) and a theater finder.
Gmail Now Supports HTML Messages
Google's Gmail free email service, now supports rich HTML emails.
Look for the "Rich formatting" link when composing an email.
GOOGLE YAP GOES HERE.
Yaaaaaaahooooooooooooooooooooo!
oh...whops
The one thing google should ad (that Yahoo! did and I absolutely LOVE) is video search. You can look for websites, images, and now Yahoo! has a video tab...hopefully google will add one too!
LOL
What's with Google Gulp?!?
Is it a real drink?

Google integrates Keyhole into Google Maps
| quote: |
ave you ever wished you could see what someplace looked like before you got there? A house? A hotel? A freeway exit? We thought you might find it useful, so we've incorporated Keyhole technology into Google Maps and Google Local. Now when you type an address into Google Maps, you can click the 'Satellite' link and see a view of the area. You can zoom, move the view by dragging, and even resize the window just like the normal 'Maps' view. Looking for a new apartment or house? Type in an address you're considering, get a view from the air and, with a quick local search, find out if you can walk to your favorite Saturday morning cup of coffee. Thinking about spending time at the shore this summer? Search for hotels with Google Local and check out the "beach" in "beachfront." You can even see driving directions with real images. We can't promise you'll never miss another freeway exit, but we do think that Google Maps + Keyhole gives you a great way to see and explore your world. But take a look for yourself and let us know what you think. John Hanke GM Keyhole |
wow... pretty fukin cool
Gotta love gmail's infinity+1 storage upgrade. Everyone should have 2+ Gigs of storage by now, with that number going up every day. The main gmail page (http://gmail.google.com/) has a storage counter counting up...
G is for growth
Storage is an important part of email, but that doesn't mean you should have to worry about it. To celebrate our one-year birthday, we're giving everyone one more gigabyte. But why stop the party there? Our plan is to continue growing your storage beyond 2GBs by giving you more space as we are able. We know that email will only become more important in people's lives, and we want Gmail to keep up with our users and their needs. From Gmail, you can expect more.

Oh this was the gmail page April 1st...
https://www.google.com/accounts/Ser...%3Dl<mpl=wyze
Welcome to Gmail A Google approach to math. On the eve of Gmail's one-year birthday, our engineers were toiling away furiously. Notes scribbled all over the walls. Complex calculations on napkins and empty pizza boxes. Millions of M&Ms. The result?... starting today, we're beginning the roll-out of our new and top secret Infinity+1 storage plan. The key features are: Write, don't worry. You want to stop caring about storage. We want to keep giving you more. Today, and beyond. The gift that keeps on giving. 1102.353769 megabytes of storage (and counting) for every user. No complicated equations. No tough algorithms. Just this one graph: Gmail turns 1 today. And we've always loved a good joke. We know we won't reach infinity, but check out what we will do...
Google keeps releasing stuff on April 1st -- everyone last year thought 1G+ of email storage was an April fools joke...
Unfortunately however Google Gulp was a joke...

Google Ride Finder Announced.
http://labs.google.com/ridefinder
Need a ride? Now Google has included the ability to lookup where taxis are in real time! The new service is called Google Ride Finder. Using a combination of Google Maps and Google Local you can see where certain taxis are at the moment. Currently there are only 11 major cities that are supported, and there are still only a few cab companies that are involved. The service is pretty cool, but if they don't add more cities/companies, who knows how well it will do. For more info check out Google's Blog. http://www.google.com/googleblog/2005/03/need-ride.html
Google Search By Number
"Well, Google has done it again. This time, simply enter any tracking number or id number into the Google search box, and Voila! You have a link to the shipper and tracking information. They have a funny little mom/son tech talk bit on the blog about this."

WOHOO !! Great News !
Google finally adds the ability to view user submited videos !!
| quote: |
A couple of months ago we launched a video uploader so you could add your own videos to Google Video. Well, now we're ready to start displaying all that stuff. I've been amazed by your cool videos. I had never seen a robot dog harassing an iguana before, or a monkey doing karate, and I had no idea you were such good dancers. There's more than home video, too - like this UNICEF story featuring David Beckham. The clips play right in the page using the brand new Google Video Viewer, which was created by our engineer Aaron Lee using code from the open source Videolan project. It works great in both Firefox and IE, and we've designed it not to fight with any other video plugins you might have. We're releasing the Windows version first, with Mac coming soon. A feature we're especially pleased with is search within a video, which means you will get a result pointing to the precise spot in the video that matches your query. Try looking for sergey brin and you'll see what I mean. There are even more people getting creative with video here. So have fun watching, or shoot your own videos - and keep sending them in! |
Finally they've listened to my ideas

| Google Unveils Video Viewing Software By MICHAEL LIEDTKE, AP Business Writer Tue Jun 28, 8:33 AM ET NEW YORK - Google Inc. unveiled a video-viewing channel on its Internet-leading search engine Monday, creating another media outlet that may open new moneymaking opportunities for a company already so profitable its stock has tripled to above $300 in 10 months. ADVERTISEMENT Watching the amateur and professional videos in Google's index requires free software available at [[ LINK REMOVED ]] The software, consisting of about 1 megabyte, won't do anything except stream Google's videos through the Internet Explorer or Firefox Web browsers. The limited scope of Google's viewer means it won't be competing for now at least with the popular multimedia players made by Microsoft Corp. and RealNetworks Inc. The Mountain View-based company announced the video viewer just a few hours before its red-hot stock reached a new closing high. Google's shares ended Monday's trading session up $6.85, or 2.3 percent, to $304.10 on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The stock went public last August at $85 a share. Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq:YHOO - news), which runs the Internet's second most popular search engine behind Google, also indexes videos that can be streamed through the multimedia players made by other companies, including Microsoft and RealNetworks. Some of Yahoo's videos include programming licensed from major television networks such as CBS and MTV. Google isn't streaming television content, although its index includes the transcripts and still images from a wide range of shows. The Google viewer will give Web surfers their first chance to sample the material that the search engine has been stockpiling since April when it initially invited people to submit videos. While all the currently available videos are free, Google hopes to eventually charge for some of material in partnership with the content providers. Google hasn't set a timetable for introducing the paid videos, said Peter Chane, a senior product manager for the company. Chane wouldn't reveal how many free videos are available through the search engine. The videos available Monday covered eclectic topics, including breakdancing moves, gardening tips, sarong tying, the 2003 fall of Baghdad and even a guide to advertising on Google. If it charges for some video, Google could lessen its financial dependence on advertising, which has been a source of concern for some analysts. Online advertising, mostly through text-based links, accounted for virtually all of its $369 million profit during the first quarter. Google has acknowledged it is working on a new online payment product that many industry observers expect to be linked to paid videos. Company officials have declined to discuss the details of its payment product. The video viewer also could drive even more advertising to Google, said Forrester Research analyst Charlene Li. She believes Google's new viewing software is designed to build an audience ripe for video advertising. Neither Google nor Yahoo are currently showing ads next to the videos found through their search engines. |
