Dunno ??????????????

I just learned of this thread this past week from someone that I ran in to when I was at This Is London For Carl Cox... or I would have responded a long time ago.

All you had to do was text back that I was annoying you instead of informing you and trust me when I tell you I would not waste my time texting you about any more parties. Those who know me and FollowTheParty, know that I do this for the love of the music and people, and if someone doesn't want to be sent a message, i would not continue to bother them. You are right, you probably called me for guestlist for Docks one summer and that is how I got your cell phone number. I apoligize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you, and I assure you I would not have sent it to you had I known you didn't want to hear about it! And I have never hear of anyone paying for incoming texted messages and I have a zillion emails and texts and phone messages coming to me all the time also, from people in the scene that got my number one way or another, but, I am in the scene and like to be informed as to what is going on so I don't miss a good party. That is all. That was all my intention was. I can't believe you would hate on someone so much for a simple text from a promoter...

why do ppl assume that just because THEY dont get charged for incoming txt's, noone else does?

Posted by mickmack on Oct-04-2006 12:33:

i have been in cellular sales (with all four carriers) for the past 6 years, and i can tell you that whether you are on prepaid or postpaid, you are NOT getting charged for incoming text messages. if you are, then you need to call your cellular carrier and bitch them out.

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Oct-04-2006 14:09:

Paying for incoming messges is your provider ripping you off because you ahve no control over the incoming messges.

Posted by LKD on Oct-04-2006 14:32:

well Daniela, theres no need to text anyone without their consent. period.

charges or no charges.

alot of Top 40 promoters do the same thing (or used to..im out of the loop) and people have been bitching about it since the begining

another thing i noticed is that the one time i went to club menage a couple years ago, my ID was swiped...ok we think thats for them to check authenticity...but nope..its for them to build a demographic database. how do i know this? cos they sent me a birhday postcard via snail mail. hmmm....

Posted by Cosmic Fur on Oct-04-2006 14:43:

While we're griping about unwanted texts, can someone with suicide-bombing experience please blow up wherever it is that www.sms.ac is located? My sister signed up for that stupid website back when there was a chainmail e-mail going around, and at the time we were sharing cellies, so she signed up with my current number. These ******s just do not stop with their texts. I tried nearly everything to get removed from their database - going to the website and removing my account, texting whatever it is they wanted so the system would remove me, nothing works. Friend requests, greetings, blurbs, announcements, etc etc etc. I cancel them sending me freind requests, friend requests stop coming, and greetings start coming. It doesn't cost me anything, BUT HOLY FUCK IT'S ANNOYING.

Posted by LKD on Oct-04-2006 15:07:

fuck sms.ac annoyed the fuck outta me. i DID however text back that 4 digit number and didnt get any after that...

what was funny is how the female population seemed to be so taken up with the whole concept

Evil1

Promoters need to clean up their act big time.

This thievery of phone numbers or unsolicited use of phone numbers for texting promos, also extends to email.

A few months ago, my friend sent me some pictures from an occasion, as well as his friends. We were all on the to: address line.

Well, one of his friends was also a promoter, who grabbed that email list, and used it for her promo distribution list without anyone's approval. She inadvertently CCd her entire contact/customer list instead of BCCing everyone. Other promoters were on that distribution list. THOSE promoters in turn added me and everyone tho THEIR distribution lists as well. ALL WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF THE EMAIL ADDRESS OWNERS.

I am pissed off that I got spread around like that. It appears it's a cut-throat business, where back stabbing other promoters is common or accepted among themselves.

I find it next to impossible to get myself off these promoters' mailing lists.

One promoter in particular, I was very polite in my request to have me removed, and I was kindly replied to, that I have been removed, and that his gmail account apparently adds email addresses to his address book randomly. I thought it would be over.

Well today, I received another of his promo emails for the club he's representing. I never met him, however I respected him as he's a TA as well, and get along with him here. But this behaviour is total bullshit.

I am pissed off, and hope promoters begin to act ethically, as it is obvious to me they do not. Their extra money in their part-time job depends on how many asses they get into the club they are representing. However they are also pissing a lot of people off in the process.

I've never been and been interested in going to his club one day, but after all this bullshit, it's going to take a lot from this promoter to EVER get my ass or my friends' in his club.
