Went past just after 8 but there wasn't alot going on besides a few people in phats & a speaker box on a trolley

Hopefully there was more to it than that later on?

Kel, You forgot to mention the silver martian guy with the helmet on, making that trippy music which makes me feel ive fallen into an episode of Doctor Who.

There was a crowd happening when I rocked up after 9. I thought they'd have more organising happening but it was just dance away anywhere while we point the camera around. And how the fuck can you dance on the sidewalk,? even with talc?? Needed some better tunes as well....

A few decent shufflers and people going off, not a bad turnout for what it was, wasn't too bad.

Well he did have a bigger crowd than the shufflers

Posted by G`Dave on Oct-17-2004 04:07:

I was there from about 9:30 till 11. The crowd was good for alot of the time I was there, would have been 10 to 15 dancers (myself included) and up to 80 or so watching.

Was really fun to talk to randoms, old ladies, cabbies, the guy who worked at starbucks about the shuffle

Music could have been better I thought, perhapps a hack with a couple of cheap CDJs wouldn't have gone astray, better than popping the cd player everytime you wanted to change a track. And volume could have used a boost, I understand there are noise restrictions, but the wierd drums people down the road were making more noise than us, and those christian fundimentalists too (they were funny).

*Oh, and btw, I thought the sidewalk was a fine surface to dance on, *shrugs*

Got there about 8.30, stayed till about 11 as well. Pretty damn funny to see raving happening on the sidewalk though. It must be so awesome to go to europe and have like a whole city engulfed in techno (oh crap, I mean trance, sorry ).

I saw some pictures, it looked like they used a battery to run their speakers amps? I dunno how that would have enough juice actually, but pictures don't lie. Maybe that's why they weren't pumping up the music, drain the battery too much? I got nfi.

Oh yeah, that hayden guy brought his ipod and plugged that in for like half of the night.

G'dave, did you end up wearing your phats that night?

Posted by G`Dave on Oct-17-2004 22:59:

Yeah I was wearing the phatties, black with green trim and yellow and silver on the front.

Looks something like this.

But without the green straps this time (tore off one of the D-rings that hold them on at GK, *idiot* haven't been assed to fix it yet)

that's for sure! when we had 5am dj's playing up there for ANOT they were looking at us dancing, stunned. i wouldn't call myself the shuffle master or anything, but they loved it!

Posted by Joax on Oct-18-2004 07:07:

I noticed a few people saying they like X style and dislike Y style so what defines the shuffle?

When I went out clubbing I was 'shown' the basic step for the 'running man' and the 'shuffle'.

The running man was a on-the-spot running style and you moved your arms in time.

The shuffle was done with 1 foot in front of the other. The front foot twisted and the back foot stomped.

What do you think?

Posted by amnesiak on Oct-18-2004 11:25:

I've always thought the shuffle was one foot shuffling and the other stomping to the side, and then when changing direction a backstep with one foot behind the other, then back the other way and again. Some people just do the backstep constantly shuffling, but I think it isn't as good as stomping to the side and doing a backsatep when changing direction. This is just what I gather from wathcing people and I've never actually found out what exactly is the shuffle.

I'm not saying anythng about the running man, that's just comedy to me.

What does a foot 'shuffling' do?

Posted by amnesiak on Oct-18-2004 13:38:

Best way I can describe it is by moving your foot like this and sliding left to right and then back again \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/.

Spinning foot around on your heel and then toes if you knwo what I mean.

Okay took some vids on the night, have a lookie here:

Hmm you probably won't see a very 'clean' version of the shuffle there, nowadays everyone just does a hybrid of shuffle and running man (not that I'm complaining, I actually think it looks pretty good). Then again, if you can dance and keep the rythm to 145bpm music, anything you do kinda looks good.
