Surely this is what makes Van Dyk the best dj. If he released every remix/rework/re-edit etc then other djs can play everything that he plays. Its what makes his sound exclusive and why you have to go and see him play to hear these tunes.

I assume this is still around and available somewhere. Smidge (from TA) does a good job at recreating PvD's version.

I would blame PvD fans on these forums for getting far too over exited every time he edits a track. Its an edit, thats what its called and thats what it is, nothing more. |
Doesn't change it. With the releases of these edits, Paul makes money off a production where he has done very little to the original track. He has also pointed out that they are just for the sake of his own sets and that he does not benefit from them financially. And regardless of it saying "edit" or not, people will go "OMFG Paul's remix of Energize is teh rockz0rz!!". He knows this, yet decides to release them after all, which is quite dodgy if you ask me.

Yep, I agree. The Holding On To Nothing edit made me skeptical when it saw release, but I didn't complain too much since I felt it made the track somewhat better. His edit of Energize, on the other hand, basically did nothing to improve the track, and seemed to be released only to sell records. No More Fucking Rock 'n' Roll only confirmed this, despite the fact that it wasn't on Vandit like the other two.

Think ive only ever heard the PVD mix of Energize, which i love, i also liked his Holding Onto Nothing edit better than the others. But i didnt know the ASYS track he plays was an edit, isnt it just the original? And areu saying his edit has been released?

No, he removed the vocal, cut out most of the intro, and did some other minor rearrangement.

like remove 2 minutes of the song, and change the whole intro...
in most cases thats better then 99% of the remixes(b-sides) out there anyway, cause most people just throw a new layer ontop and call it a remix.
If he released this one, his (2nd rework) id buy it in a split second, along with some other ones.
