NBA sucks balls.

less attitude and $$ and more showtime (ala magic, bird, and jordan) is what the league needs.

and what's with the shithouse performance at Athens?

I hate to agree with this but i do.
games has becomed kinda boring, they last for like 3 hours and you have a whistle and wasting time in between by lingering like bitches!games should be an hour and 25 minutes TOPS!

But the Blazers are in the playoffs this year 4shore!
All those Denver,Jazz,Rockets and Memphis clubs didnt last for more than one or two nice seasons, and nxt year the Blazers will throw Reef,Studemire and NVE saleries and sign co-stars nxt to Miles and Z-bo.

no need to playa hate the nba's state at the moment .. of course our eyes were spoiled with the magic that magic, bird, and jordan built .. but like music, it also has to be in the downturn now and then .. well i don't consider it a downturn, but i see the nba developing into some nice at the moment ..

the reason why people are uninterested with the nba right now, because there is no such thing as the "one-sided" section, where you know which particular team will always win .. back then .. everyone knew the lakers, pistons, celtics, and bulls would constantly win all the time .. do we want that?? the nba had the dynasty team (lakers : kobe and shaq), and if kobe and shaq could have patched their differences, they could have easily won at least 5 more championships before their careers ended.. free agency and money contracts have helped every team have at least one superstar on their team.

but yes i see the nba's future as bright .. currently we are watching some major super talent such as : kevin garnett, chris webber, shaq, kobe, jason kidd, t-mac, ray allen, rip hamilton, tim duncan, and mike bibby (and others i have missed) .. and the future looks very bright with jermaine oneal, amare stoudamire, dwayne wade, lebron james, dirk nowitzki, emeka okefor, dwight howard, elton brand, yao, and others i can't name at the moment ..

let's discuss this again in 4 years, and see how the status is ..

the nba was seriously pissed off at the olympic performance. and so to were the players. they didnt take it seriously enough and just expected the gold medals to be wating for them at the end. also you have to remember that these players play in the toughest league in the world and will have been tired after a heavy season, and will have had less time to prepare as a team than the other teams, who will therefore inevitably be more organised.

as for the nba. it is the best place to see basketball, and 1000000000x better than british basketball for a start. theres still plenty good players in the leagues nowadays as Truesonic has said. le bron james and has already been comapred to magic, so you cant deny that the big stars are in the making. plus theres good foreingers in the league now like dirk lewitsky (sp), tony parker, and the chinese guy at housten.

fuck tha haterz.

getting off topic here a bit ..
the spurs beat the "supposed" #1 team the suns by double digits the other night .. so who's the better team phoenix???

hahahah .. looks like the spurs have the most solid team in the nba right now .. i thought they would lose a lot when they lost turkgolu (who is the biggest X factor in orlando right now .. ), but brent barry is filling in nicely for them, and bruce bowen has stepped up his game a bit from his horrible play last year ..

miami is looking good right now, but i think wade should conserve that extra energy he has until april or may .. van gundy should be playing dooling and damon jones more to get wade at least 33 to 35 minutes a night .. or we could be seeing the iverson effect .. so many minutes during the reg season, he burns out in the playoffs ..

and no one is talking about the new jersey trade for carter .. that team has made the step up to be the better .500 team in the horrible atlantic division .. no one seems to want to win that division.

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Dec-30-2004 02:08:

the suns have a long way to go to become a powerhouse, need to improve that defence
I always like Brent Barry, when the spurs signed him, i was like thats it NBA Finals (barring injurys)
If the Heat win alot of games early, maybe Wade wont have to play that much towards the end of the season. But I see what you mean
That Raptors to the Nets looks like crap on paper but the truth is Vince wanted to get the hell out of there. Vince just didnt have that much trade value(says the raptors GM) so they were desperate. They were gonna trade Rose and Carter to Portland for Abdu rahim, derek anderson and vladimir stepania, but it didnt fall through.I d like to hear a raptors fan point of view on this.

Phonix and seattle won't less in my opinion, those 2 teams live and die on their 3pointers and like Pat Riley said: 3pointers is gold for fools"

Posted by Christoph on Jan-03-2005 00:04:

Im just glad Dallas is finally playing some defense.

I think Vince Carter in going to have a very successful second half with the Nets,I have always thought he wasn't much of a leader and didn't have the character to be the man even back when he was at Carolina. Now that he is a complimentary player and asked to be a scorer plus with a good amount of nudging and prodding from Kidd and jefferson,he will become a high value commodity again by next off season.

good comment there .. look who were considered "superstars" in the 90s with UNC that havent grown into the leader role in the NBA .. carter .. stackhouse .. mcinnis .. rasheed wallace .. brendan haywood .. and plenty more .. it looks like UNC and dean smith didn't produce leaders in the 90s .. hmmm...

Out of all The current Tarheel players in the nba...i hold alot of respect still for Antawn Jamison..he quietly will get you 20 points and 10 boards every night.carter Benefited from playing along side him just like stackhouse thrived playing with Rasheed Wallace.

true .. i almost forgot about him .. he is probably the most productive out of all the 90s UNC stars ..

as for Duke (another powerhouse college) suprisingly the only "best" superstar they had that played in the 90s is Elton Brand .. that's about it .. everyone else has been down the toilet .. well i can't say much about Dunleavy, Battier, Duhon, Deng, and Jay Williams .. they still have some years left to prove ..

but nba superstars are spread out in all the colleges . there isn't a true "factory" where they automatically create nba superstars.. good colleges that have created superstars are arizona, ucla, georgetown, and kansas ..

Posted by SlackerBoy9 on Jan-04-2005 03:18:

I'm a kentucky fan, they are really good at creating scorers and guys who can run.I feel bad for Elton Brand i like him as a player but he is doomed to rot and waste his talent in Clipper land.As for Duke players i have 3 names
1. Christian Laettner
2. Cherokee Parks
3. Bobby "drunk drivin" Hurley

Damn Sonics Beat the Heat......Guess Luke riddnour can play

Smoking ..umm..something

Another Dukie: Grant Hill

My excessively long NBA post:

Being a grad of Univ of Oregon, got to respect the game of Luke Ridnour. Because he's a little white boy, they always say that someday he could be the next Steve Nash. D is a little weak though. Classic gym rat. Luke Jackson in Cleveland... where are you?

Heat will come out of the West. Hard to see otherwise. Detroit doesn't have the passion this year and their team is predicated on energetic D. Wade is a young buck. He'll be fine playing that many minutes. He's built stronger than Me, Myself, and Iverson. Iverson always broke down because he's freaking small. Shaq is coasting anyway until the playoffs. With Artest and Jackson, Indiana and Jermaine O'Neal could challenge but obviously that's not happening.

Nice to see another Blazer fan too but honestly the Blazers suck man. I'm not satisfied with Zach as the franchise guy. Black hole and terrible D. I'd rather see them keep Shareef who is a better all around player. Pair him with Miles and SF and Telfair at PG and you have something exciting. Trade Zach for guards. It won't happen though (can't trade his anyhow with his excessive contract). Just my musings....

About Brent Barry, if you have followed the recent articles about him, they have chalked him up to be the biggest bust of the free agent year. His numbers are WAY down from last year. His 3 pt % is below 30% off of 45%+ last year. I don't agree there.

Anyway.... Spurs vs. Heat is how I foresee things. Spurs too tough on D and have the experience and the X Factor in Duncan. Garnett doesn't have the surrounding pieces as much this year. Sprewell is a tool! Cassell is growing long in the teeth.

At least the Suns/Sonics are exciting as hell. Their games are reminiscent of the fast break, run and gun 80's. Exciting stuff. The thing is, when they're shooting good it doesn't matter about their defense because it's lights out. They drop 120 like it's nothing.

Yes, the NBA bores me many times. Pales in comparison to college basketball in terms of motion offenses (vs. one on one bull S) and raucous crowds. But the Suns/Sonics/Heat are making things better for me this year. That's how basketball should be played.

Plus, Dwayne "Flash" Wade and "King" Lebron James are putting the NBA in good hands. James is more of the next Michael Jordan that Kobe will ever be. He's led a horrendous Cavs team out of absolute gutter into contending status. Amazing! Undeniably the most exciting talent there is. He makes his teammates better. Something that piece of crap Kobe fails to do.

lakers vs san antonio last night, lakers get a jolly good thrashing. game was over after the first half. you couldnt see them coming back from the defecit, they just arent a good enoguh team. outside kobe they have few options. odom was poor, and kobe was quiet last night, bar a few flashes of individual brilliance.

san antonio looked as if they were coasting, duncan was pretty quiet and took regular time on the bench. they just didnt need him out there, the other guys were handling la well enough. spurs are the best team ive sen so far, the bsaketball theyre playing is fluid and well organised, definite contenders, though they are beatable.

Posted by SlackerBoy9 on Jan-06-2005 00:04:

Gee guess kobe doesn't need Shaq.Kobe is just like McGrady...a great scorer who doesn't make any one else on the team better.Have fun getting your 40 a night and going for the scoring title

Knicks losed again but against the best team in the East and my pick for Champs the Heat.

Would like to see somehow Issah build the team around Crawford and Marbury over the next 3 years but thats what everyone dreams of in New York.

1. Uhhh... he cheated on his wife nevertheless. 2. He's comes off as an arrogant prick. 3. Yes, he did all he could to run off Shaq and Phil Jackson. If he would have not wanted to be so selfish, he could have had 4 or so more championships with them. Instead he wanted to prove he was the next Michael Jordan. Guess what? It ain't happening. 4. He does not make his teammates better a la Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Lebron James. 5. Being a Blazers fan, he is the symbol of my most hated professional sports team.

Shaq is the worst rapper ever! Agreed.

yea and also ESPN did an article about the worst athletes to crossover to musicians and KOBE finished 3rd behind Deon Sanders and Denny Mclain as the worst.

EDIT : heres the article
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page3/story?page=schrager/040728

"3. Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers: "K.O.B.E." (featuring Tyra Banks)
Like Iverson, Bryant's 2000 rap album "Visions" never hit the shelves. But, unlike "Misunderstood," Kobe's "Vision" was not held back due to lewd and offensive lyrics. Columbia Records actually put the nix on Kobe's debut effort simply because it was awful.

According to The Daily Standard's Matthew Continetti,"The album was supposed to be out in March, but then they (Columbia) listened to it again, and it was so bad they put the kibosh on it."

Despite the album's premature death, the single "K.O.B.E." was released in the Spring of 2000. In a June 14, 2000, article in "SportsJones Magazine," columnist Elliot Vanskike wrote, "Wedged between his fretful silliness is the spelling lesson cum chorus which, if you hear it, will burrow into your brain and plant its hooks as it has into mine. It's not that 'K.O.B.E.' is catchy, because it's not. It's just that it will light up the same neurons that fire when you hear the Hamster Dance Song, and it's about as well produced."

That about sums it up.

Supermodel Tyra Banks joined Kobe on this disaster. Sadly, the reality is that the host of "America's Top Model" probably wouldn't make it through the first-round of "American Idol" with this performance.

But I'm going to give the talented Ms. Banks the benefit of the doubt, because its nearly impossible to make these lyrics sound good. Kobe speaks of "broads," "pigeons," and even suggests slapping a girl for being too loud in public.

In literature, they call this foreshadowing. In music, they call this a "never-released album."

Memorable lyrics: "Uh, what I live for? Basketball, beats and broads. From Italy to the U.S., yes, it's raw. I'ma search for the one that make my wealth feel poor. Who can ignore the spotlight life of Grandma." "
