Seems that way most of time, anyway. I think constructive criticism is very important, but bagging on someone in a rude manner doesn't help anyone. Tell the person how to improve their set rather than telling them that they suck.

I guess that's true. I didn't hear his set, so I have no idea whether he sucks or not. Was it an issue of track selection or technical ability? I don't particularly like a lot of house, but I can respect a good set of house.

that is your opinion, which you are stating like you're THE reputable authority....yet you arent the one who's doing online radio mixes the level he is, playing live events the size he is, or producing music getting signed like his is. try limiting your punctuality and also making clear it is your opinion when you say something like that. he's obviously not doing bad in the music business...otherwise you guys wouldn't be knocking on him

the thing is, he's not making the music, Plant is. He's playing at this level because of the tunes Plant has made. Kuffdam, whilst being quite an able technical mixer, plays some of the shittest tunes I have ever heard. And I've been knocking him long before he was signed to vandit

For me it was the track selection. I tune into Soundgarden every week to get away from that type of music that is overbeaten on ASOT and all the other wannabe ASOT show's which are just as bad, and if not worse. It's not the sort of shit you usually hear on PvD's show. Perhaps a little research before hand wouldn't have gone a miss?

It wasnt just the poor track selection though - the mixing sounded so horrid and artificial. He wasnt double beating or anything, but the mixing was straight off 'madferit club tunes 2004' - fast mixing is an art and something only very talented DJs can achieve - I dont think Kuffdam should have been trying it.

His beatmatching is pretty solid, and I've heard him play some pretty fucking random tunes together

Very seldom will I enjoy a set full of quick mixes. Most dj's that are "quickmixing" do it because they can't hold their beat. To each his own, I guess and it does depend on the style being played. I guess you're saying he was coming in too rough on his transitions, trying to mix out quickly?

I dont agree with this fully. Some mixes require a long blend ( 1:30 min +) and some mixes require a short cut ( 30 sec. mix).

It depends on the mood you are trying to set, the song, and your style.

really sharp fast mixing can sound great when done well... when its obviously a sign of confidence rather than lack of it...

unfortunately kuffdam didnt pull it off.

yes they have, even kuffdam did it - alluding to the strange concept that people should not be allowed to comment on a topic something unless theyve done something 'better' or achieved something more. NO, the point of this thread was a reminder to tune into his set. im sure critiques would have been appreciated if they had been kept 'constructive'; nope...first response to his set was you saying the first track he played was trash, which should have cued you in to NOT LISTEN. how can i try to convince people he did not play a trash set when ive spent the majority of my time responding to your messages (which, btw, you engaged me in)? my posts in this thread did, at one point, serve a purpose, but now i feel oddly compelled to rattle you.

There are plenty of people who have agreed with me in this thread - why have you singled me out? I'm not a bitch, I just dont like seeing people bumming djs for the simple fact that they happen to occasionally post on here - I thought the mix was poor, I'm simply stating how I feel, and plenty of people seem to agree with me here.
If it had been amazing, I would have said so, without a doubt.

And I'm very into my music - ask anyone who knows me. I just dont like a lot of the shit discussed on here - and I'm not the only one. Just look at some of the people who have said the same thing. Just because you believe 'electronic dance music' only consists of Tiesto and Armin, doesnt mean that I dont like 'edm' because i dont like them.

I will have to say that Laushinameee does have soon good advice at times. Laushinameee can be an asshole at times but I think its her disregard for how she says things not what she says.

I'll give you a good example for how Laushinameee/twig can provide some good feedback.
Laushinameee listened to one of my mixes and said it was shit. This was a shitty comment to make but I had to really push Laushinameee to clarify her comment. I asked her what specifically needs to be improved in my mix. Etc. Initially I was pissed at her comments not to mention confused.

I actually wrote a nasty PM to Laushinameee saying some pretty crazy shit to blow some anger I had towards her. I think I threaten to kill her But a few weeks later I listened to the mix and finally understood Laushinameee's point of view. I later apologized to Laushinameee.

It sucks to hear criticism, especially on something you work hard on, but sometimes it good. For me Laushinameee's honest feedback has made me work harder and become more attentive to details.
