Beste Game i ever played.

Its the best game i've ever played aswell! halo 2 is a great game but not even in the same league as this. Those console boys don't know what they're missing.

Posted by sleepydragon on Nov-16-2004 22:07:

this is a damn good game
but that install is a bloody nightmare

Posted by Trancer85 on Nov-16-2004 23:36:

wtf...i just got this game 2 hours ago, formatted my computer and installed it, but the steam WON'T LET ME LOG ON!

anybody having the same fucking problem here??

edit: logged on and registering cd-key with steam, it's taking a while too

Steam had me preloaded and ready to go at midnight last night!

I didnt even notice it preloading! Very good Steam!

Running silky smooth with everything on high @ 1024x768 (I would go higher, but my refresh rate drops to 60hz above that!!! ) and AA and AF set to 4x!

me too! im lovin it so far. it has some killer grahics

Posted by Linx_da_cat on Nov-17-2004 03:25:

an incredible game, without a doubt. sticks to the formula set by the first one but takes it up a notch visually. i'm loving what this game has to offer.

hmm...my only gripe at this point is how bloody easy this game is (played on normal, but decided to restart on hard: still easy).

Posted by dj chex on Nov-17-2004 07:38:

Great game, finally glad it came out. However, i do regret buying the collector's edition. I bought it b/c i thought they will do the same thing to hl source as they did to counter strike source. The textures, and everything else almost looks the same as the origional hl. I thought they will make it look as pimp as cs source and hl2.

BTW, does anybody know if you ALWAYS have to connect to Steam to play this game. I kinda wanna install it on my notebook for times when im out of the house.

Posted by dj chex on Nov-17-2004 07:55:

I just wanna call in sick tomorrow. BTW im up to chapter10 Entanglement, im wondering if i should chug some bawls and coffee and play till i beat it, or if i should just get some sleep deal w/ it when i get home from work... All these damn games

Posted by infinity HiGH on Nov-17-2004 07:59:

I dont know how far you got, but there's one part many hours in that is ball crushingly difficult (I'm playing it on normal). It's been gradually getting tougher.

I would have played it on hard, but I don't like how your weapons become less effective. I don't like having to shoot a human(oid) combine 20 times before he drops... really cuts the suspension of disbeleif for me.

There is an option "Offline Mode" if you have unlocked the game files. I think you have to set steam to remember your password first, but then you can just play it without connecting steam to the internet. Remember that you do have to connect your laptop to the internet to unlock the game files there after you installed it (using the same steam account name of course).

I was wondering this too, also does it have to verify the files EVERYTIME IT STARTS!!!!

Steam only has to verify the files the very first time you start up half-life 2. Then your cd-key is coupled to your steam account and there is no need to verify the files again.

unfortunately yes, those without internet can't play. not the best solution to prevent hacking/leaking...

I've got a P4 3.0 Ghz with 512RAM and a Radeon X300 card - would this game even play on my system?

I really don't know how well it would perform...I know KotOR plays great on my compy, but is HL2 a huge leap up in graphics?

I didn't even know it came out today until I checked this forum. Been looking forward to this for years, but sorta lost interest when they kept pushing the date back.

Unfortunately, I have about $100 to my name...all this time to play computer games, but no job to (safely) pay for em...Oh well.

Posted by nrjizer on Nov-17-2004 17:41:

Definately. I have a 1.4 ghz thunderbird, 512 ram and a Geforce3, and it runs pretty good on medium settings.

And I should have a 9800 pro and 3000+ barton any minute now, if fucking fedex will get here.

are any of u guys playin CS Source?

Posted by Philby on Nov-18-2004 02:10:

ive downloaded some of the videos off gamepost and it looks great! we haven't had a good enough computer to play any of the latest games from last couple of years so don't know when i will be able to play it but it definitely looks good

ps

umm sorry but what the hell is this steam thing everyone is talking about?

Posted by k1ba on Nov-18-2004 04:48:

it was called WON and it was only used for cdkey authentication.

Posted by CONNERMAN2000 on Nov-18-2004 06:24:

Steam has gotten a lot better. When it was first released back in the beginning of 2003 to allow players to play the BETA of CS 1.6, it was so buggy that many times you wouldnt even be able to connect, while other times you would be able to connect, but it would take about 10 minutes. Now, Valve has done A LOT of repairs and its actually pretty good now.
