i don't assume. i can safely say that out of the 250,000,000+ people in your country there is more ignorance and obliviance than in any other country. your country's media is run by 4 major companies, regardless of what channel you are on you are being indoctrined from day one. it's quite easy to be part of the problem when you are staring at it from across the proverbial room.

the french can talk anyway. they try so hard to come accross as an athiest nation that they ban the wearing of crosses, headscarfs and other religious items from schools.. yet they still celebrate christmas? whats the deal with that?

ok .. it's the day after thanksgiving, and it feels good to have a day off .. hehe .. but i don't know what francetuckers is talking about .. like france and other countries, we all have our melting pot types of people .. i am not talking about the different nationalities that live here, but the different types of people that live here .. the glutenous ones .. the lazy ones .. the brash ones .. the vivid ones .. the lifeless ones .. the ant-workers ..

but it seems the glutenous, lazy, and pompous people pop out more as the image of america, rather than the normal middle class workers surviving to pay extreme utility bills or car payments. i will tell you this .. tv is giving you the wrong image of america.. america is all about working hard to get what we want.. of course we have all the luxuries and amenity services available at our fingertips .. we are all thankful for that .. but there are also locations in america that do not have the same availability lifestyles .. like the slum/ghetto areas .. the country life that is far away from the metropolitian areas.. the areas where average income is far less than the regular median in the united states ..

i don't know about others think about the third world countries and everything, but i do care about it a lot. i do tithe regularly to the church i attend to keep it up, and whenever the church is offering money to help the "little sisters of the poor" or another one i can't think of right now .. i really don't have much luxuries if you're asking me, and i know many other tranceaddicts here don't have much either .. my family and i work hard to the position we are at right now .. we represent one of the many families that own small private businesses to keep us alive, and fight against the constant pressures of big business stealing our customers.. we work hard for our moneyw.. my family suffice with the necessary materials to keep us happy ..

there are many americans that work hard just to get by.. i know many families that couldn't afford the traditional turkey, so they bought the honey baked ham instead (which is not a bad alternative) .. we all give our thanks for whatever we have available at our fingertips and our roofs .. i am not going to get angry at you with your comments, but just say that your ideas of the 'regular' american life is not what you think it is ..

Good post, itsTruSonic.

The image "we" display may be the truth for many Americans, but keep in mind - when you shine the spotlight on a place for so long, of course you're bound to notice ALL the flaws. Things have just found a way to escalate to this grand hatred for everything American, despite regard for the individual who may or may not be more hard-working and cogniscient of his blessings in life than the Eurotrash insulting his lifestyle from thousands of miles away because of what a little box displaying light in his living room told him.

I cannot deny that francetuckers has "hit the nail on the head" but seeing as how that only applies to a small percentage (probably about the same as it does to any other country) theres about 200,000,000 more heads out there in America and not ALL of them are up their owner's asses.

When a large number become exceptions to the rule, your theory that Americans are slobbering, fat, ungrateful bastards is no longer an effective generalization, so don't try to pass it off as though it even describes all the people living outside of the midwestern United States. It would be kinda like me assuming that, since I've encountered one generalizing and abrasive french asshole, ALL the french must be generalizing and abrasive assholes. I've been to France several times, and I just know that it's not the truth.

Hypocrisy is an individual thing, for "society" does not truly exist - it is, ultimately, constituent of its individual citizens.

congratulations on escaping the formulaic lifestyle of america. be thankful you don't need to hide an AK47 under your bed and the only sound you hear at night is the rush of traffic, and not gunfire from next door.

there we go again .. you are singling out the bad, and placing it in front of the good to make it look like america is such a bad country in your words 'self-indulgent and sheltered' .. i hope you are not one of those extreme activist talkers that talk about the deaths and warships of third world countries, and never stepped foot in those countries before? .. if you are, then please stfu ..

of course i, as well as many tranceaddicts here, are thankful that we don't live in the times of war right now .. there are locations where they do hide the ak-47 under their bed .. such as the slum neighborhoods and hunting locations ( ) .. but i don't think you are fully knowledgeable of the us history, but fifty years ago to this day, there was much violence and terror in the streets in a war-like environment between the regular white caucasian people and the black african-american people .. i see the united states have very much improved on that lifestyle since that time ..

first off, you can't say that b.s. to her .. all that coke sh!t is just jokes .. you didn't have to shove it up her face like that .. second off .. what do you know about the 4 major companies that run our media? you couldn't possibly name the broadcasting companies that run the channel.. they are viacom, disney, tribune, and whoever broadcasting company is running fox.. of course you have to slam our media companies for the degrading material they show everyday in the news and shows, but it is no different than your material they show in your country, and also the controversial material bbc shows .. all you are doing is pinpointing all the problems we do, however not really specifying the bright aspects of america ..

Hmmm ok, let's take a look at French media ownership. Let's see, we have:

  1. Groupe Hersant
  2. Lagardere Media
  3. Vivendi Universal
  4. Ouest-France group
  5. Bayard

For TV, you have three public broadcast channels and two main commercial ones, TF1 and M6. TF1 is owned by the Bouyges group and M6 is owned by the conglomerate Bertelsmann. What fine diversification.

yes .. notice that he is not posting anywhere else other than COR.. not a trance lover i say .. i think maybe he is from another trance website that has lost users to tranceaddict, and now he is raving his madness towards us for his loss in members .. possibly the mod in homeofmusic.com? hahahaha

There is a difference between someone laughing with you and someone laughing at you.

(laughing at you)

Not quite since most of his attacks were ad hominems, straw men, appeals to popularity, guilt by association, red herrings, etc. Generally fallacious arguments directed at those who were quite undeserving of such specious attacks fail to hit any nerve of mine. Why, did it appeal to you?

Some of us give thanks every day, thanks that there's a big ocean seperating us from the half of americans who think a) the world revolves around them, b) we give a shit what they think or c) any life in other countries cannot be as good as in america

Fortunately, as a lot of Americans I know quite well prove, there are more than enough good apples in the big basket

Thanks for the mirror.

First, President Bush had your PM send your soldiers to die so that we can drive our SUVs.

Now, I have you bringing me a mirror to fix my hair.

Posted by itsTrueSonic on Nov-26-2004 21:29:

of course .. yes there are the "bad apples" in america that make the image of america look bad ..
here's a pure example ..
celebrity star jones (one of the co-hosts of 'the view' with meredith viera, elizabeth hasselback, barbara walters, and joy ? .. if anyone wants to know) just got married, and announced she was going to the middle east to 'just look for some good shoes to buy and nice clothes to wear' .. no mention of the war, or the families that are suffering there .. then she has the blatant attempt to blast her co-hosts for not giving her 'enough wedding presents' on the show ..
tv media hype or just plain selfishness ???

Whatever your motives for the war, everyone from here who's fought has done so to selfless as you said, it's a quality some Americans could do with, people I know have died over there in combat, so whatever might seem like a joke to you, so while bush is in it for whatever reasons, some of us actually do want to bring peace to the iraqi nation. then again that's probably what seperates the people here from the jackasses in the states who find your kind of comments funny.

btw, no amount of mirrors will fix your hair, please try a brown paper bag
