yeah, i thought of that after answering it...
so the answer isn't 150 tho, is it? its infinitly close to 150, but never there...

like that paradox where if you are going from point A to point B, you go half the distance, then another half, and another half, and again and again, but there's always another half, so you never really get there. stupid paradoxes

look above his post. there's mathematical proof for that kind of problems.

yes, there is mathematical proof, but what im saying is, can you say the answer is 150? or would you have to say 149.9999999999999999...

eh forgive me but arent you just saying it indeed will be infinitly close to 150? (149.9999999999999999999999/)

i'll ask my math teacher .. fuckin holiday

*edit* they asked for cm^2's though.. i'd say 149.99999999999999999999999999999999999 = 150 though..

I know so many profesors who would roar in anger if they heard this.

I know. They were hard. I had to guess on all of them. I couldn't just sit and stare at it and tilt my head around trying to figure this out...

Me too, and I'm not even a professor! I'd say 150 only because _after_ you take infinity into consideration, the final value is no longer 149.9999999...; it really is 150.

Posted by sEpH on Dec-26-2004 23:11:

THIS TEST DONT WORK.

ive answer all question wrong and still got 82...

and its not normal that everybody have 125+

Posted by kypez on Dec-26-2004 23:14:

fuck it its holidays. who thinks during holidays.

Posted by DjArTiN! on Dec-26-2004 23:35:

Damn you guys are fuckin smart. I got like a 108.

Well, if you take infinity into consideration, you also have to take the infinity of how small the folds are, therefore it really isn't 150. You can't acknowledge some infinities but not others

Lets keep in mind that IQ tests are mainly used in the US only, and that according to many, there are multiple intelligences that a standard IQ test can't measure, such as-

musical intelligence
interpersonal intelligence
body-kinesthetic iintelligence
linguistic intelligence

etc etc etc.

so even though you scored 155 on an online IQ test, you could very well be an interpersonal moron.

That one?
This is a one possible solution that works - me and my best friend worked on it:

Each BIG ball is worth 10 points.
Each small ball is worth 4 points.
For every point of contact between any two balls, subtract 1 point.

Therefore,

A=13
B=24
C=17!

they purposely make your score higher so that youll buy one of their real IQ tests. i got 146 one time and 115 another. so i dont trust them.

If there are an infinite number of these flaps, what is the area of the entire figure (in square centimeters) when they are all unfolded?

OMG...

The answer is 150. The additional folds result in a triangle whose area equals to half of that of the square! Me and my best friend worked it out!

someone understood that???

That was a tough one. We came up with this idea:

I used ice cream and gum to calculate this formula:
ICE CREAM = 4 vowels and 4 constants. Therefore, 4v + 4c = 32
GUM = 1 vowel and 2 constants. Therefore, v + 2c = 13.

First, I try to figure out the value of V.
v + 2c = 13.
v = 13 - 2c

Substitute v = 13 - 2c into 4v + 4c = 32.

4(13-2c) +4c = 32
52 - 8c +4c = 32
52 - 32 = 4c
4c = 20
c = 5.

Substitute c = 5 into v = 13 - 2c.

v = 13 - 2(5)
v = 13 - 10
v = 3

Therefore, CHOCOLATE is 5C + 4V
5(5)+4(4)
= 25 + 16 = 39

I did this test again with my friend, we spent 4 hours almost, and got IQ of 165! I guess each of us then has an IQ of 82.5!

Oh, by the way, if you get IQ over 126, then you are eligible to join their High IQ Society, which costs a fee to join. So if you're really smart, you wont join it!

you actually had to work it out
i felt it was rather obvious, but meh

Posted by Magnetonium on Dec-27-2004 01:42:

What did you guys get for this question?

Determine the next item in the series.

B, C, D, E, or F?

Posted by Jeremy H on Dec-27-2004 03:20:

128 ..
Agree that the questions with the 234342894-sided objects where just plain stupid..didnt even bother to give them a try

Posted by Resnick on Dec-27-2004 03:44:

Each BIG ball is worth 7 points.
Each small ball is worth 2 points.

for the 'electron' one...its just two equations,
x + 3y = 13
2x + 5y = 24

so last one is 11

Posted by DJ Chrono on Dec-27-2004 04:15:

I got 89 with completely random guesses.

Posted by mezzir on Dec-27-2004 08:58:

136
and yeah, fuck the more than 6-sided figured, i'm sure i got those wrong

but the one where people are saying 150cm...thats correct
if you know some calc its pretty easy
not for the forumlas, just the theory behind it
all sortsa things like that that just make your head hurt
like how the sum of the recursive series t = t(n-1) + .5t , t>0, t(1) = 0
will eventuall equal 1 (for people who don't know those or in case i wrote it wrong, been a while, thats starting with 1/2, then adding 1/2 of that to itself, and then 1/2 of that
so like .5 + .25 + .125...=1
its all really theory i guess though
because it will never actually reach 1, ever
however, for all conventional purposes (), and also using a bit of calc, limits and such, we see that it really does

also, .999repeating = 1
bitches
i forget the proof for this
the way i think about it and first figured it out:
.11111... = 1/9
.22222... = 2/9
.33333... = 3/9
.99999... = 9/9 = 1

lets see...what else is there?
