Why don't you cross the Atlantic for this? The exchange rate is in your favor by a lot

Posted by THE_Chris on Jan-13-2005 21:39:

Heh - I cant even go to J00f in Galway (about 100 miles away) on Feb 4th, let along haul myself across to the states for Nu NRG.

WAAAAYYYY too much work to do. So dont tempt me

If it is broadcast I'll sit here and be a tracklist whore.

Yeah...the stuff I've heard from Markus, I haven't really been too impresed since it's all light and fluffy for my taste.

However, I'm still gonna go into Spirit with an open mind.

I would say there is some fluff in the melodies but the bass lines are usually more darker/brooding than anything usually I deem fluffy. For example the song that he plays on his recent mix: Mike Foyle pres Statica - For Your Eyes Only. The bass is dark and pronounced but there is still a softer melody. I like the balance. It's definitely not pounding, driving bass lines like PVD or something. A song like Kyoto - Ferry Corsten is fluffy to me. But sometimes I like Ferry Corsten fluff.

Markus doesn't really vary from his main 'theme' or sound very much. I don't foresee him doing anything different for us in NYC.

Sorry for my promotion but I'm a GDJB Markus whore. Here's a review that kind of says how I feel:

As a consequence of balancing the progressive and trance sounds, Markus Schulz has produced a CD which is both dark and uplifting. The track selection and remix work is often subtle, and always melodic. Compared to the other big trance mix CD to be released this year, A State of Trance 2004 by Armin van Buuren, Coldharbour Sessions 2004 is as melodic, but deeper, slightly darker, and in my opinion, more innovative in its overall soundscape. Several tracks appear on both CDs, but with different mixes, providing an opportunity for direct comparison of the sound both DJs have produced.

Seems that Armin and Markus are so close now, I wouldn't be surprised that they share the same bed when each is visiting the other. They are constantly promoting each other on their broadcasts it's funny. Markus: "Sorry honey, Armin is in town this week. Can you sleep on the coach?"

Nah, I'm just kidding. I know how Mrs. Schulz wears the pants in that household.

hey id pay $15 just to go see NU NRG and the lasers at Spirit...from the sets ive listened to, Markus is aiiteee...i guess it would depend on my mood. stuff like Ferry - Kyoto may be fluff to some ppl but i really LOVE that track eheh. Ferry always gets me bouncin'

as for Armin and Markus, of course they mite sound similar and promote each other. They BOTH helped to form Armada

I also like Kyoto! but I recognize it as fluff. I can hear fluff when I'm in that mood, not all fluff is bad. Markus surely spins some fluff as do most DJ's IMO. It's the nature of trance in a lot of ways.

Again, I've always liked Ferry Corsten too. I have for at least 5 years. He gets me moving too.

I sense hostility from someone everytime I post....

Well, your avatar with Sander K is a lot more user friendly to this board since there are so many peeps that want to snuggle with him.

Maybe it's the nature of being a Rams fan and wanting to 'butt heads.' But actually I just meant Bubbleravegirl doesn't like me. Oh well...I'm not gonna cry about it.

time to quote that

For one thing, I don't get offended if someone doesn't share the same opinion as me or is critical to a DJ I really like. Or hate a song I really like. Basically, at least we like EDM. Take Verndogs, I'm sure he might find Markus fluffy but I know he likes Sander K and we share in that opinion of those nights to be quality. One song we may share an opinion, another we may disagree but it's all good in the end with me. I still like Markus and I'm happy you guys are going with an open mind.

I agree that seeing some DJ's (James Zabiela for instance) live is much better than listening to them at home.

+ for $15 there surely isn't much risk there. And hopefully Spirit is becoming more quality and us hitting this place up will send Avalon downward spiriling.

I can't wait for both. I really like Nu Nrg too!!

Go Rams!!
