Yeah I could use some ideas.

Posted by Tuis on Mar-30-2005 04:49:

Ditto. I'll be leaving right after class so I figure I'll get there just around opening...dunno, never driven to Detroit so I'm guessing on my ETA. I would assume there is parking available close, but assumptions can be bad.

If you see this dude there
http://home.columbus.rr.com/tuis/TJ.jpg
say hi. Its me.

Posted by phreek on Mar-30-2005 05:37:

Columbus is probably close to the same distance I'm driving from Indy. It takes me about 4 1/2 to 5 hrs. I'm driving down to Indy from Purdue first to pick up some friends then up to Detroit! If I recall there is underground parking pretty close to Bleu. There's valet that runs about $10 I think. I'm not sure how much the other is.

Parking issues...hard to describe as i don't know what way you are coming from or if you know what direction is what once you get there. Bleu Room is at 1540 Woodward Ave. and there is much available parking on woodward north or south of there. The best suggestions imo are:

1)If you are going south on woodward and you pass comerica park (big baseball stadium) on your left there should be a few small parking lots the last of which is the one you want. From the other direction on woodward 2 blocks or so past bleu room, is the place i'm talking about (the parking on the east side of the street tpast comerica park). It is pay parking, and you have a slight walk but it's the easiest.

2)Mentioned above was Premeir Parking Garage located at 1206 Woodward (313.967.1601). This is south of Bleu Room on Woodward.

3)Grand Circus Park Garage located at 1601 Woodward (313.962.3348). This place is north of Bleu Room on Woodward.

Although mapquest can be shotty HERE is the link to the immediate areas map. If you have any specific questions about driving in the area feel free to pm me, and i'll try to help you out. Hope to see everyone there! I'll be in the same shirt as pictured in my avatar.

Posted by phenn on Mar-30-2005 14:20:

If Grand Circus is closer why is the parking by Comerica easier?

Posted by Tuis on Mar-30-2005 21:00:

The words that come to mind are "access" and "visibility".

GET THERE EARLY!!!!!!

not just to see me and elavation but serisouly there will be a line and Armin is looking to go on at 11:30 so get there as close to 9pm as you can or you could end up stuck in line for the beginning of Armins set.

Posted by Atari Addict on Mar-31-2005 20:29:

Yeah seriously! I don't know why, but that club enjoys having a huge line and letting people in slowly even when the place is near empty at the begining of the night.

Dosen't matter to me where you park, just telling you my opinion. I've always found the lot near comerica (blocks past comerica and much nearer the woodward) is guarded just fine and although not quite as close still easily walkable.

Posted by arecebo on Mar-31-2005 21:47:

totally forgot about t his show, you shoulda told me you and the indiana crew were coming up phreek.. anyways i saw armin at the kool haus last week and he spun real hard, should be a wicked party cause he loves detroit

I had a very good experience parking where I did just south of Bleu. Either way though I was surprised how safe it felt. Very nice.

That was my first clubbing experience, the only other thing I have done is techfest.. and I don't know if other veterans will consider it amazing but as far as I'm concerned that's the best thursday night I have had, ever. KT was AMAZING, beat my expectations and really got the place going. By the time Armin got on the place was so ready to explode it would take a huge blunder to mess that up. Of course he just tore it up. Awesome 2 encores too.

Adagio for Strings was just classic. I had a great night.

My feet hurt.
My hands hurt.
My throat hurts.
And I finally found a city that is worse to drive in than Pittsburgh - I felt like it took me longer to get out of Detroit than it took to get *to* Detroit.

Sounds like I had a bad time, huh? Bzzt.

Worth every bit!

Despite going alone and not knowing a soul in a city and state I had not been in since I was 9 months old (and that one time my parents got in a car accident that sent me flying under the dash), I held on to one vital piece of knowledge:

i'll be the one with the shirt in my avatar - Atari Addict

And that's how I ran into these fine fellows:

From left to right: Me (TJ), Atari Addict (Trestin), and DJAllure (Adam)

from left to right Atari Addict (Trestin), DJAllure (Adam), Sean

In this fine place:

To see this fine DJ:

(Sorry KT, the pics I tried to take when you were on turned out worse than the Armin pic)

And that ain't all that was fine:

From start to finish the show was simply amazing. I loved it and apparently so did everyone else. As for the afterparty, I would like to take a moment to e-strangle whoever told me it was a short walk from Bleu to The Works...anyway. I must be blessed to have made it there somewhat stumbling drunk in Detroit with a solid red Ohio State jacket on without serious injury or a slight case of death.

DJ Elevation rocked the afterparty until 5am and was even kind enough to give me a lift back to my car.

haha nice pics! Man i look faded! I was really glad to see so many TAs there, hope you guys had fun. At about 11 i look over to my friends and i'm like "KT is rippin it up!" and then is occured to me that that could only mean Armin was going to blow the club up. Luckily i was correct! Major League was amazing, i've always wanted to hear that live, that song alone made my night. KT got everyone moving for an amazing prelude to Mr. van Buuren. Then Armin had the crowd pumped from start to finish, allowing us very little down time to catch our breath. I can't say enough about last night, just awesome.

Posted by djallure on Apr-01-2005 22:22:

Well, those are some of the worst pictures I've taken. Ha ha ha ha. I guess I had a few too many!

Posted by eisbaer6 on Apr-02-2005 01:59:

any links to pics or vids, or anyone wanna try and get a tracklistin for the djs going? I kinda missed elevation, I know KT dropped some hot 04 tracks like made of sun.
as for armin I remember without you near(loving this), before we fade away(tore shit up for ender), purple haze(very hot), adagio for strings(unexpected), bad deal, communication, and I think firewall - sincere. I really wanna know what the first song he played was with the girl vocals, the bass on that fuckin destroyed me. Before we fade away for last song just gave me all my energy back, amazing show, i feel like i have a new perspective of life, and how it is such an amazing thing.

Posted by Tuis on Apr-02-2005 03:11:

Yeah, the bass on Armin's opener was killer...I loved it.

And Adagio for Strings ran on for...hell I dunno, seemed like forever (and that's not a bad thing~)

Posted by jpisani on Apr-02-2005 08:59:

armin also played Departure - Without You Near. and yes, someone please find out what that first song was

here's a video...about 35 seconds, and hard to see anything, but ohh well. www.johnpisani.net/avb.mpg

That was one of the remixes of Synergy- Hello Stings. I think it was either Harry Lemon remix, Interstate remix or Perry O'niel remix.

It should be on the vinyl release in the next month on Armada.

Armins opening track was a mash up of the new Motorcycle track mased with Yilmaz Eighties. The awesome bass you speak of might have been the Eighties part.

Cheeers!
