I felt like a kid going cliff jumping up North in Tobermorry who is gonna jump for the first time and he goes to the tall-ass 100-150 feet cliff area and looks down and goes "WTF... im sooooooooo not doing this"

then eventually he slowly works his way down to the nice comfortable NON-scary 8 feet mini cliffs and FINALLY jumps...

I agree. I actually read the WHOLE first post of the thread in just over a minute or two, and have to agree with some things. I am not much myself of a prog fan, I miss and love to death the late 1990s style of trance. It's a shame ... its true that a large chunk of trance thats being talked about on this site should belong in that progressive addict website forum. Oh well, but then I have to look around and adjust to the real world, whether I like it or not, it is what it is.

For example, I can't stand techno. In my opinion it sounds like horrible noise. What I do understand is that there are a lot of techno fans, who think the music is great. I am not going to sit there and bash it, simply because it isnt my style of music. I respect the style, but I just dont choose to listen to it.

Wow, the guy who started this thread really needs to go to his dictionary, pick it up, open it, look up the word "hegemony", sit down, scratch his head like many a chimpanzee has been characterized as doing, and rethink his argument. This same drill should also be undertaken by everyone supporting his position too. The genres involved don't even matter either. Take them out and insert the names of different religions if you'd like.

And in defense of Rabbitjoker's stab at this goof's post count, we must note that RJ is subtly alluding to how the more 'post-wise' participants are (usually better) able to recognize that the subjectivity of perspective is ever so important when considering this matter (as has been voiced).

And if this guy decides he'd rather argue his case to the bitter death because this is a messageboard (which is also know to be a public forum where concessions of any sort are ever so rarely witnessed), I suggest that he return to the dictionary, and re-read the definition of hegemony until he understands. By so doing, further embarassing comments should (if he can understand the definition, of course) be avoided.

YAY!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for that.....so true. What is the point of slamming a genre based on subjective taste? They all provide positive energy to those who enjoy their particular sounds. These threads are akin to arguing over who's favorite colour is the best.........Green BTW
