simple

talent in rock is playing the sounds

talent in electonic is making the sounds

in rock the sounds require simple programming (guitar tweaking), leaving the artist to make the music (playing the guitar)

in electonic the music requires simple programming (sequencing), leaving the artists to make the sounds (synthesis)

either way it matters not

out

It's not as if a counter argument would make any difference with you, you miserable little orc.

As soon as you see the words 'ASOT' or 'Armin Van Buuren' you go off on another of your pathetic and boring little rants. Why don't you just fuck off back to where you came from, and leave me in peace you fun sized piece of shit.

You asked for what we thought, dummy. You just can't stand being wrong, so you respond with insults.

Posted by RickyM on Jan-29-2005 20:19:

You didnt respond to the main points raised in the conversation - you just went on a rant about ASOT and Armin.

Posted by Ory on Jan-29-2005 20:24:

My point was that you made a bad example by telling your friend that ASOT/Armin is quality trance. You don't know shit about well-produced music, so you should keep your mouth shut.

Posted by RickyM on Jan-29-2005 20:27:

It is my opinion, on what is good Trance - some songs on ASOT are very good. A lot of these songs are very well produced indeed.
And as this is a public forum, I shall air these opinions as I please

Now, do go away please.

Posted by Ory on Jan-29-2005 20:33:

No, I will not.

So what is well-produced trance?

In my opinion a well produced trance track is one which has a professional sound.
Well produced doesn't always equal an excellent trance, though. However I think many ASOT tracks are both well produced and have an excellent melody to go with it.

Anyway, I don't care what you say about this ^^ because if I like the sound of an ASOT track I'll listen to it. Same with music in any genre.

No I don't mean all of EDM. If I meant all of EDM I would have said "EDM", not just "trance". Some dance music is pretty complex, old-skool tracks from the late 80s and early 90s for example, and producers who use and play live instruments into their productions. Also, there are producers who use synths incredibly well. However, none of these can be attributed to any trance producer.
