i wish J00f's live acts were more like his compilations rather than virtually only full-on psy though...

you might wanna check out this review and read the bottom lines. which i can quote:

"The good name of trance has been used and abused for far too long. Commercial acts plaguing our charts have taken the trance moniker and with it, pigeonholed their style of cheaply produced tat. Well, their days are numbered. John 00 Fleming knows the true meaning of trance; few would question that. Its music to mesmerise, hypnotise and captivate. White Label Level 2 does that, and more. Its a truly moving blend of trance that trips into goa, progressive and psy-trance genres seamlessly throughout. Note now - probably timeless!"

lol you clearly stated that j00f is not a trance dj, thank you very much

progressive + psy-trance != Trance
its not that hard to figure out.

Er, psytrance is trance, ergo he spins trance.

Posted by Cobalt on Jan-29-2005 03:55:

I truly have not seen a thread with as much bullsht and completely trivial argumentation as this one in some time. It's worth more than the ASOT and "Trance Is Dead" threads combined.

Posted by Charly B on Jan-29-2005 03:56:

Yoji Biomehaika is my pick for #1 , I may not be Japanese but he is hardest and best DJ out there!

Posted by Cobalt on Jan-29-2005 03:59:

As for the original question, the answer will inevitably be influenced by music preference, and by what DJing elements one values the most.

Technically I would say Sasha, even though his current musical direction bores me to tears. Overall I would say PvD. Keep in mind that's based off my own preferences for trance. I could say Jeff Mills or somesuch, but I don't have enough experience with techno (or house, etc.) to say so.

Posted by SPANIARD on Jan-29-2005 04:50:

Trance: Armin Van Buuren
Tech Trance: M.I.K.E.
Overall: Eddie Halliwell

Posted by TheVrk on Jan-29-2005 08:25:

can you actually call them one style?

I have heard sets from all 4, that include no trance at all

I wouldn't call any of them trance djs

pretty easy m8:

Marco V: hard trance
Digweed: Progressive-House
Paul van Dyk: Hard trance
Sasha: Progressive-House, hint of trance

Posted by Special_K on Jan-29-2005 08:34:

.....when will the circle jerk threads end?

Oh Lord...

saying PvD is not trance is just plain ridiculous...yeah, maybe he's been playing house all these years and nobody but you noticed it

Posted by memusa on Jan-29-2005 08:43:

btw...best DJs out there have to be Sasha and Christopher Lawrence for me.

...and yes, I DO consider Sasha a DJ even though he uses Ableton.

Posted by Alexan on Jan-29-2005 09:10:

Sasha, before ableton live he could mix like nobody's business (even when he was off his tits drunk)

erm.... no and no
how the hell r they hard trance

Posted by sleepydragon on Jan-29-2005 12:12:

This thread is stupid
there is no such thing as a 'Best DJ in the World'
its all about personal taste
everyone just has personal favourite djs but that doesnt make them the best in the world.

Posted by Alexan on Jan-29-2005 12:24:

yeah well the question was 'who do you think is the best DJ in the world?' so it's asking different people's opinions so of course it's not going to be decided who is the words best DJ

yes but use abit of sense
when a question like that is asked its bound to turn the whole thread into a thread of flaming hense making the whole thread pointless and a waste of time

Posted by nwopper on Jan-29-2005 12:40:

A best dj in the world?...I think there isn't an overall best dj in the world....

Personally I like DuMonde a lot, but to call them the best dj's in the world, no...they're technically pretty bad...but I just like their style and tracklisting. I always enjoy their sets. I think Kai Tracid comes in second, followed by James Holden, Yoji, Cosmic Gate and so on...

Posted by Light The Fuse on Jan-29-2005 12:49:

hahahha...joof and pvd arent trance dj's.
Man joof IS trance for Gods sake.

best, well it depends if your talking technical or groovical.
FOr me technical would be teh the original, the Wizard Jeff Mills...Groovical would be a combo of Christopher Lawrence, Sasha OMG he is a DJ you goofs, and maybe Sander K.
Havent heard much of PvD for a while, if hes not spinning ludricrously over pitched, hyperactive stuff, then yeah hes up there to.

fleming is not a full on trance dj he plays psy aswell

Posted by A.J. on Jan-29-2005 14:06:

I always thought that psy-trance was trance

I consider to be a subgenre of trance

do you think sasha puts in an ambient track in ableton and lets it beatmatch automatically? i've got no clue what so ever how does it work, but i'm pretty sure it has some way of monitoring tracks and lets him adjust the beatmatching manually! therefore, computers let dj's beatmatch as well as you can with vinyl, plus they can aid you when they recognize the tempo

as for the joof is not trance argument, well you win the DUH! award 2005. as stated 23189047389279 before, psy is a subgenre of trance. and he's barely playing any progressive anymore

oh and to actually contribute to this thread, my fav dj is zabiela, followed close by holden. not really the best in the world objectively though
