damn that sucks. as horrible as it was sometimes, it was still better than half the other stuff played on the radio. i was just jamming to markus last night on the global dj broadcast. then i just got in my car and heard staind playing on the station.
rip party 93.1
thanks for the free july 4 shows
hell yeah this sux..there will still be gdjb on the gdjb website?
I don't believe this. I thought rock was over when ZETA switched but 3 days later it just seemed to move. This would be a dumb move right before conference.
I still have some hope. As gay as the station might be, hearing the cheesy tunes once in a while wasn't so bad.
Atleast it was some type of EDM on the radio.
Anyways. Grooveradio was the best!!! I remember discovering the station a lil before going into highschool :: tear :: Props to Eric on that one
yeah.. they sure pumped up the dance music industry here in South FL, and it sure did give a new spectrum of music to the masses .. which is better then having everyone brainwashed with popish rock and Hip hop and all the other stuff.. RIP to the 4th of July shows.
www.globaldjbroadcast.com will have a press release regarding this matter sometime this week.
What the...!? I leave for a few days and THIS happens?!
That suckx!

Man this sucks!! I was hoping it was all a dream... i dropped off my friend earlier tonight and i stop the cd and check out 93.1 to see what's happening at MIA, and I hear rock.. and i'm like, ok maybe the dj is playing this at MIA, ha ha how funny, let's wait for the bass to kick in... and nothing happens, i look at the LCD and it says "93.1" and in my head i go "Party 93.1" I'm like, ok someone switched the wires by mistake at that little building on I-95, and then the worst thing ever, a station ID "Rock 93.1, Latino and Lovin It!" AHHHH, i switch around and Y-100 sounds like crap and 94.9 Is some "Mega 94.9 Spanish Shit". This is a sad day. Sort of reminds me when a very popular Toronto EDM station back in 1999 changed its format to country and was called "The Kats". How was 93.1 at #17? wow, that bad...
I read what you guys are writing, pirate station.. yea i guess you can try for that, but that's very hard and sounds like pure crap. I used to have a show on NSU Radio X 88.5FM, we shared it with some highschool because seriously every single frequency in MIAMI-DADE-BROWARD area is flat out TAKEN. (http://listen.to/eurobeats was the show's website, archives are still on
)
Ok this is a sad day miami WTF. Any protests planned?
Seriously, a huge protest to bring back _an_ EDM channel ;-)
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
This is really sad news
I really hope they work something out with another Station. I need my weekly dose of Markus and GDJB
It's a true lost to the EDM community.

This is an incredible lost to our local comunity, It's such a lost, There is not much choices in music stations in South Florida, We have a couple of hiphop stations, Spanish stations, Oldies stations and some pop stations, Not much of a choice since there is not a single station that plays dance music, This in itself is a travesty to the entire comunity and I feel betrayed, Cause of this, I cannot turn on the radio any more, Our only option nowadays is listening to webradios, They always provide the best in dance music and comercial free.
Another questions comes down to Ultra. Where will Ultra advertise to the masses?!?!... Prior to 93.1, they used to run the ads on Power 96, same as the Space ads.. they ran on Power 96.. the only Ultra's that I know of that weren't advertised on the radio, was the one from 99.. but 2000 and above were running on power 96 and then party.. Im just wondering what will happen without this big ads. ?
The website has been edited to remove all main content and they also removed the conctact information so people cannot call the original station number or cox's, but still not even a small note explaining to the public why this happened.
such a sad day...i can't believe this is happening..
hopefully something will pop up...or 93.1 comes back as something else...
Aren't they sponsering Ultra?

Party 93.1 switches to rock format
BY CHRISTINA HOAG
[email protected]
South Florida's dance music station Party 93 is now a rock and roller. The station abruptly switched formats late Monday and is now Rock 93.
The move comes three days after Clear Channel flipped its progressive rock station WZTA 94.9 FM to Hispanic urban on Friday, leaving fans of new rock groups such as Pearl Jam and Hoobastank in the lurch.
''Cox decided there is room for a second rocker,'' said Tom Taylor, editor of Inside Radio/M Street. ``The chessboard just changed again.''
The format change is the second for 93.1 FM. For years, until January 2002, it was classical station WTMI. Cox Radio then changed the call letters and format to WPYM and rhythmic dance music, which has had mediocre success as a radio format across the country.
Faced with less than stellar ratings and an opportunity to sweep up WZTA's fan base, Cox decided to make the switch before those listeners found new niches in stations such as Clear Channel's WBGG-FM 105.9, classic rock, or WHYI-FM 100.7, contemporary.
THe switch is also the third this year in South Florida's competitive radio market. Last month, WKAT-AM 1360 turned from classical into conservative news/talk.

I hate to say it, but the writing was on the wall with 93.1. Their format went from progressive dance to Freestyle Oldies. I sent a nasty email to their program director about it and his only defense was that they were trying to cater to everyone. I knew that was the beginning of the end.
But Zeta? WTF? On NPR news yesterday, the commented that the parent company made the switch because that format was a huge success in Texas. Theyre supposed to be playing Reggaeton. But its all screwed up. They play the type of sh*t you hear on power 96.
Satellite radio suddenly sounds a lot better.

Just for a bit of perspective. Atlanta radio has been teh gay recently as well. We lost our best classic rock station abruptly one night and now it plays mellow, yuppie rock all the time (its even CALLED Dave FM). Its lame and they never tell you and I think thats what makes people mad the most. Change sucks.
Since the radio scene in atlanta sucks so much, I pretty much only listen to CD's and my MD player, which is the ONLY way I can listen to dance music in my car here. Unless of course you WANT to listen to top40 shit with MikeB from Eleven50 on fridays (LAME!!!).
*sigh* Radio is dead to me.
And some caution on Satellite radio. It might seem like a good alternative, but the electronic stations on XM (all 2 of them) play pretty mainstream crap. My sister has it in her car and it was alright. My Cd's were still better.
If only there was a way to get etn.fm streams in my car...(hint hint enginners)
*Raises a fist to The Man, aka ClearChannel*
