I wouldn't have time to book or plan the event. I was just saying to the people wanting this event to go down... make it happen and I will show up.

With my experience in filing paperwork with different offices here at Purdue for previous events, off the top of my head I remember the event has to end by about 11pm. We had the music blasting on some PA's echoing around the campus in the past, which of course brings the cops at first but then you show them the paperwork that gives you permission to be there and they leave us alone. The event would be free, just a fun gathering with good music, and in fact we're not allowed to pay the DJs anyways, which works out OK.

Seneca record another mix, I love the techy/minimal/electro direction you're going!

I'm in, just give me the when and where, and barring any finals/major issues I will be there.

If there is an 11PM policy, we should definitely try for some kind of after hours party, or at least a post 11PM shindig...

So like I said, let me know where we're gettin down, and I'll be there .

Edit: it would be great to talk/meet any of you considering this at G&D next weekend...

Edit #2: I think I should get this out of the way right away as well; 90% of what I'm spinning now is on CD, so if anyone is a little anti-CDJ and a CDJ is not welcome, I figured I'd like to know before the 6 and a half hour drive .

Cheers,

RJT

i know dude! my friend has actually indulged him on a couple of occasions--once he paid my friend $20. then the next time he asked to watch my friend urinate in a cup. that's where he drew the line.

gotta love the cardinal

Posted by UWM on Feb-18-2005 18:11:

id probably piss in a cup for the guy if he paid me, hell yeah! i don't know if i'd let him look at my rod while I was doing it though, that'd feel a bit too gay

I'll be at G&D, so maybe I'll see you there.

I would also need CD decks too. I have enough vinyl, but I buy anything I can find on CD, Beatport or Above the Sky since they're cheaper and then buy vinyl of what I can't find there, so I can get more tracks for the money.

Posted by jam.iii on Feb-18-2005 19:05:

hm... so does anyone out that way have turntables available for use if we get something together? lugging all my records around isn't too bad, but i wouldn't want to have to bring my bigass coffin too

ps why do a get the feeling the piss guy would somehow show up at random, and then all these people he's never seen before in his life would be like: "oh, its YOU!"

If this shit ends up going down in Indiana I would need to catch a ride with one of you Madison cats. Like most of the students here, I don't have a car here.

Posted by Omega_Blue on Feb-19-2005 06:40:

I've got a laptop (soon to be accompanied by an Audiophile USB), so we may not need cd decks. hey madtowners, I might be able to get you guys a ride. we should start getting a list of people willing to spin. so far it looks like...

+me

maybe we could do an all day thing at a park or something (a park that you can drink at) and then when it closes at 10 or 11, move it inside at someone's pad or a club. this means an extra setup of gear though. unless the place we move to already has stuff setup...

I will most likely have room for two left, and since I'll be headed south from UWSP right through Madison if anyone needs a pickup I should be able to help out a couple of you kids...

We'll hash out the details when we have dates/times etc...

Cheers,

RJT

So in what month would people like to have this since it would be outside? April? May? If it had to end at something like 11pm, what time in the day should we start it at?

My friend Joel here at Purdue said he would help us out with plenty of pa speakers and subs, intelligent lights and lasers, plus I have tech-12's with whitelabels and a nice stanton 3 channel mixer. My other friend Kevin here would be able to bring.. Axis-9 CD players I believe.

Posted by tylerc on Feb-20-2005 22:06:

if possible we should avoid april 22nd and may 6th. i have a gig on the 22nd and i'm helping put on a big electronic show here on campus on the 6th.

but i think any time in mid-late april would be good. maybe the last weekend? once we get into may we start dealing with the end of school/finals.

Posted by phreek on Feb-20-2005 22:25:

Alright....about alcohol...

The law in Indiana for bars and clubs is 21+. And any club that we'd look at would want us to use their bar. Obviously drinking isn't a possibility for campus buildings. As I said before, there are plenty of bars around here. It's a college town . From what I've heard they have pretty good drink specials around here compared to other places. Is drinking during the event that much of an issue?

One option is that we have the event on campus and then move to a house for an after-party.

What is everyone's opinion on indoor vs outdoor? If it's indoor this would cost money and we would have to charge a small cover. We have a few different ideas working right now and some people here that are really interested in helping crrrazydan and I make this happen. We want to make this a good time for everyone so we really need your ideas to make it a success.

Posted by RJT on Feb-21-2005 00:28:

First off: Phreek & crrrazydan thanks a lot for taking the reigns on this and getting things going...

About the CDJ's: I'll bring my 800's if it comes down to it... I'm kind of a tool about my equipment (No liquids; See ruined DJM500 thread ) but if we can't get a set of 800's or 1000's down there I'd just feel more comfortable bringing those down...

Regarding indoors/outdoors: I'm totally indifferent as I am 21. It would be nice to be able to ninclude everyone, but if there's only one way to make it happen and that's at a club, I'm down.

Regarding Alcohol: I don't really drink too much; how are West Lafayette Police about herb?

TylerC: What's the deal with the electronic show in Madison on the 6th of May?

Well, I think that pretty well addesses my concerns

Peace, Cheers,

RJT

The lineup is just starting to come together, but I'll post it on here when its definite. 2 stages in Memorial union from 8pm-2am. That's all the info you'll get out of me now

We're also having a dj battle for local guys to win a slot for D3. March 12th at Union South. More info in the next day or two.
