| Originally posted by Camwin SOLAR STONE I believe these two have a brilliant production technique. Have always released quality tunes under every guise they have been under, Young Parisians' have some great originals!! Beautiful pianos. They have been ever constante with their releases (not talkin bout colabs) and haven't nessasarilly stuck to the formuliac stuff. |
Keeping in mind I don't feel like writing an essay....
(Oliver Lieb)Spicelab - Lost In Spice
Under his Spicelab alias, Oliver Lieb created tracks that are the pinnacle of Trance in art and form.
Carl Craig - Landcruising
Like Derrick May, but with more productions! Derrick May v1.5!
(Simon Berry)Art Of Trance - Wildlife On One
Those first two years or so where Simon was producing 90% of Platipus' records he was in his prime and so was Trance. Like, even his shit was golden coloured and stuff.
(Larry Heard)Mr. Fingers - Introduction
Can you feel it? If Marshall Jefferson invented Deep House, this man perfected it. Like a master clockmaker crafting a watch with the precision and deftness of a skilled....you know what I mean.
Bernard Parmegiani - De Natura Sonorum
Electronic music pioneer in 60's, 70's. Considered by some in the IDM circle to be an early pioneer of that form.
Tod Dockstader - Quatermass
Electronic music pioneer in 60's, 70's. Considered by some in the IDM circle to be an early pioneer of that form.
(Kevin Saunderson)Inner City - Fire
I'm having big fun in my good life. So were the extremely popular hits he made in 1988 Techno or House? Who cares? Man, I just had to say something.
Marshall Jefferson - Les Parrains De La House
I don't think anyone else has the balls to make a track called the house music anthem. Oh yeah and they say he invented Deep House. Or maybe just the concept of a House music anthem.
Marc Acardipane - Best of 1989-1997
Produced the first Hardcore track, uh huh. Really big in the early 90's American rave scene, oh yeah. Radagast's pants are on fire, that's right.
Jean Michell Jarre and Vangelis.
Kopi =o.
Well I'm sure he is not the best electronic music artist ever, but I really don't feel like choosing one, so rather than analyzing who is the best, I'll just pick whats playing on my computer right now.
Ryuichi Sakamoto.
EDIT: oh shit we have to pick from a list?
Well, I wouldnt choose anyone on that list so blah.

holden shouldnt be in that list...he shouldnt even be in the same sentence with some names that are mentioned here....
well.....i am gonna move it up a lot....pink floyd....do they count?
also vangelis, jmj, chicane, orbital, leftfield, kraftwerk, lieb, massive attack, underworld, chemical brothers (even though their new work disgusts me), derrick may, anthony rother, neptunes,bt , dre,fsol....the list is countless...
i've gone down the route of more recent trance producers:
Ferry Corsten: so many of the classic trance anthems are to do with this man in his many guises: System F, Verracocha, Gouryella, Ferry Corsten remixes.
Solarstone- Been around a relatiuvely long time in trance, responsible for good tracks in the 90s epitimised by Seven Cities through to one of the best tracks of 2003 - Solarcoaster.
Lange- Again has been around a while from his earlier remixes of Lost Witness and still producing quality records particulalry under his Firewall guise
I nominate Michael Cretu for the project ---->
E N I G M A
Enigma got me into electronic music!!!

I think I'd go for Jean Michael Jarre, Brian Eno, or Oliver Lieb. Maybe Underworld. There are some artists whose individual tracks I like more, but they don't have the longevity and consistency of the above artists.
Glad to see this thread didnt fall to the wayside. Aside from collecting possibilities for best artist, it is also a great way to expose yourself to music you may never had heard.
Id like to second (or third or...) the following nominations:
Marcus Andrew, Ned Sheppard, and Steve James (Digital Witchcraft) - N/A?
Julian Cobb (Hellfish) - Jet Powered Monkey Navigated Bird Breaks
Caspar Pound - N/A
Liam Howlett ( Responsible for The Prodigy) - Music for the Jilted Generation
CJ Bolland - "Analogue Theater," "Electronic Highway," among other albums i've not heard...

| Originally posted by GrimReaper You should also listen to Michael Cretu & Jens Gad's side project Trance Atlantic Air Waves, under which they've done loads of varying remakes of old synth classics like Magic Fly, Axel F, Crockett's Theme,... and have got a handful of great remixers to the remakes as well. |
