Its Gonna Be:
Fisi first!!! BRAVO BRAVO!
Rubinho!!!
and
Alonso

gr8 day for my second boys at Renault great race with a different finish then anything of last year.

Posted by TOR on Mar-06-2005 10:27:

that was a strange race, and not really exciting. people just swapped positions during the pitstops, there was very few overtaking on the track. even Michael and Kimi were unable to get past the cars in front of them. dunno if they preserved their car because of the new rules, if they were not fast enough, or if the circuit did not provide enough overtaking opportunities.... very, very strange.
only Alonso made the race fun at some points, but overall it was not really worth watching. i hope Malaysia provides more entertainment. good to see other cars than Ferrari in front, though. Renault seem to have a great car. but Ferrari is still there as well, Barichello was very close at the finish. it will be interesting to see how the season unfolds.

I dunno if I agree with you there.

I thought the first half of the race was some of the best I've seen recently, a fair few good battles through the field and the fast guys trying to storm up from the back. The coverage sucked worse than normal (we had local commentators who are dipshits (usually have James and Martin), so that didn't help), but with Webber and Coulthard so close it was interesting.
The last half was strange, Alonso and Barrichello came out of nowhere, they were around 10th, and then next thing you know they are 2nd and third!

I was surprised with Red Bull, I had heard that the car was pretty decent, but I thought bottom points at best, they were really quick. Renault have got a great car by the looks of it, Ferrari may have to rush their new car into the championship or else they may be left behind. BAR were disappointing, thought they would do better. Williams were okay, hopefully they will improve through the season. Toyota - don't know if it was a classic Trulli brain-fade or what, but they showed they just don't have the pace again. McLaren seem to be recovering well from a bad season last year, back to the top for them.

Posted by The_G0dfather on Mar-06-2005 14:27:

Hmm Schumacher not making it to the finish, that's a rare sight
Lets hope it stays rare this season (no doubt about that )

Posted by Quantized on Mar-06-2005 17:14:

Overall a boring race. Nice to see red bull near the top (although the dodgy qualifying played a part in that). Also nice to see michael crash

Anyone else think the pit-stops look strange? The car stops and most of the guys just stand and do nothing lol.

he made a great start then a shitty race after the pitstop when he got passed by karthekyian. the car doesn't help, but i wasn't expecting him to make constantly worse laptimes than his team-mate.

there was a time webber was moaning when monteiro seemed to cause problems for him to pass.. our commentators pointed out that webber must have forgotten that he was driving a minardi not long ago

wasn't a great race, but still it was worth to stay up late, seeing someone other than a ferrari win a race is always worth it red bull was the surprise there, who the hell said coulthard was a bad driver? trulli and toyota were very disappointing. williams could have done better too. mclaren seem once again not good enough to discuss races, even with 2 of the best (more hyped?) drivers. i guess it's gonna be a championship between ferrari and renault. but if ferrari's new car is a big improvement, they could be up to a boring dominating season once again

also I think next GP will show us what every team has barring another crazy weather quallys

Nice driving by Fisi definately deserved the win. Entertainment of the race was Alonso, just so damn aggresive and quick! For sure Michael would've been up there in the top 5 if he had not spun out, it looked like he was gaining ground really quick towards the end as well as Kimi.

Will be good in Malaysia when everybody is still conserving the tyres and engines for a difficult track.

Posted by Spad on Mar-07-2005 12:47:

Good race, the cars look fucking ugly with that raised front wing though. Pit stops very surreal with no tyre changes.

Happy for Coulthard, I don't think it can be put down just to a lucky qualifying session, he looked very competative all weekend.

Looks like Ferarri still have it though, the only chance of a close championship was in Ferrari playing catch-up when they release the new car but Barri looked pretty comfortable up there.

i agree, the new format is not particularly exciting. pit stops normally provide a different type of action and a welcome change of sight for the telespectators. but now nothing seems to happen.

Posted by InterMilan31 on Mar-07-2005 20:07:

I think that they should tweak the new rules by letting the teams have 1 tyre change per race would make the pit stops much more exciting, the tyre guys just knell and look over the tyres how hard of a job.

Qualifying is odd still dont have my head gripped around it yet either. Also ITVs coverage of it here shows just the saturday quallys and not the sunday morning

oh yeh, i just remembered, anyone else see the ID&T sponser signs on the minardi's? I saw it and was like wtf

+1 thats because he is dutch though and Minardi are desperate for sponsor it would probably take 4 ta's weekley pay and we could get an ad on their car.

wtf was this thread doing all the way down in page 2?

Predictions for Race 2?

I'm hoping Red Bull's performance wasn't a one-off, and that BAR have sorted they're downforce issues. They're also on fresh engines after pulling out of Melbourne early so they're in a good position.

I think we'll see a lot more of Ferarri here though

Posted by InterMilan31 on Mar-18-2005 15:01:

I think the teams will have a hard race in race 2, that malyasian heat will destroy those engines. Although I say this I could see another win for Renault or the first win for Ferrari. We shall see how qualifying goes then make predicitons.

renault, toyota, mclaren and williams! excellent, that's what i wanna see, some competition between these teams! (even if renault seems a bit faster than all the opposition now)

monteiro only 50 miliseconds behind karthikeyan!

I love the results of the qualify: Renault made 1st and 3rd, and Schumi finished in 13th position... this time he has no rain to blame

Go Alonso!!!
