my friend was telling me the wall kind of syncs to alice in wonderland. look, this sounds dumb, but ALice in WonderLand (AL in W L = WALL) get it? meh. whatever.

Absolutely, watch "Darkside of Oz" on a couple grams of shrooms or a hit of LSD and everyone will know exactly what I'm talking about. You'll be taken on a metaphysical journey. I swear...

Oh, also try the sci-fi classic "Blade Runner" with the album "Wish You Were Here" another sychronicity gem. I don't remember exactly where to cue up the two from. I've only done that one maybe once and my friend cued the two. But, I'm sure if you did a Google search for "Pink Floyd and synchronicity" you'd be able to find many sites that tell you exactly where the cues are.

If memory serves me correctly, DSOTM was the top-selling album of all time, until knocked off by...

Michael Jackson - Thriller

Sad. Very sad.

Which, IMO, is the best song ever written.

I can't adequately express how good Pink Floyd are. As musicians and songwriters they quite simply just can't be touched.

I am jealous of your collection Screen!

and I still like Zep an Beatles they just arent in the same artisictic arena...They made songs, Floyd created them

Holy shit - I recognized that!

About 1:04 into Shine on You Crazy Diamond (Parts 6-9, Track 5 on the disc), it starts with the solo whine on the guitar as well as the underlying harmonica work reminscient of Vangelis' Blade Runner Blues from the original score. I didn't expect that other people thought this as well though - I thought I was just insane.

Great stuff- Blade Runner, Vangelis, and Pink Floyd. An absolutely unstoppable mix.

I love how people can knock down other bands because all of their qualifications in music critique involve owning a few records.

Animals is their best album. Sheep rock!
Dark Side of the Moon is their second best.
Wish You Were Here is a groovy album, so that is my third fav.

Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then the one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's
sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in the relative way, but you're older
And shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled
lines
Hanging on in quiet desparation in the English way
The time is gone the song is over, thought I'd something more to
say

I love these guys. I think its my favorite album series ever created. Such a brilliant commentary.

dude you fuckin' suck, i don't know if you did it on purpose but you forgot to copy/past the best part of the song, lemme do it for you

Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
And far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spell

Oh no... you're not suckering me into an Old Timer's night that quickly. I blew a 400W amp the last Old Timer's night last month. Besides, I still gotta work tomorrow and am not gonna push the 900W worth of equipment tonight.

Oh f*ck no, not tonight homes. I'm gonna keep it toned down to about 12-15 brews. Who knows this weekend. If I blow more shit, so what, it's all replaceable (of course with a power upgrade)!

i'm sorry did you just say
worthless bands like Led Zeppelin?

WORTHLESS BANDS LIKE LED ZEPPELIN???!

take it back

the words worthless should never be used to describe Led Zeppelin, and def. not the Beatles either.

Led Zepplin is hardly worthless. They're the godfathers that Pink Floyd emulated.

hrmm I'm pretty young and I may be wrong, but wasn't floyd around before zeppelin?

Pink Floyd has out tons of albums.. Either way if you're right, I beg to differ in that they emulated zeppelin. They have a style all their own. They use a larger range of instruments, and effects in their songs/albums (Pink Floyd that is).

I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan, and have a nice little collection of their albums on vinyl so far. Atom Heart Mother, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Saucerful of Secrets, Meddle, Darkside of the Moon, Wish you were here, Animals, Ummagumma, and A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

And "Time" has to be at least on my top 3 favorite floyd songs...

Posted by tribu on Feb-24-2005 06:10:

I respect Pink Floyd ALOT, but claiming that LZ and The Beatles are worthless is somewhat hypocracy.

Give Sgt Pepper's a listen, and think about what was being done musically at the time (aslo think about what was avaliable).

And let's not even get started on IV

Most Overrated Album

(pink floyd noobs always wank over this album)

There is no overrated Floyd album... There are three distinct time periods to Floyd..the Barrett years, the Waters years, and the Gilmour years... trying to compare one album from one time period to an album from another time period doesn't work... Dark Side of the Moon is not a "noob" album and to even imply, muchless explicitly state that it is is a slight against Floyd....they've even said themselves that it's their greatest work....

Rasta

Guys, guys - is this really that important?

Just melt into the music, and you'll realize how unimportant arguing over such things is...

quote:
Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air
And deep beneath the rolling waves in labyrinths of coral caves
The echo of a distant tide
Comes willowing across the sand
And everything is green and submarine
And no one showed us to the land
And no one knows the wheres or whys
But something stirs and
Something tries
And starts to climb towards the light
Strangers passing in the street
By chance two separate glances meet
And I am you and what I see is me
And do I take you by the hand
And lead you through the land
And help me understand the best I can
And no one calls us to the land
And no one crosses there alive
And no one speaks
And no one tries
And no one flies around the sun
And now this is the day you fall
Upon my waking eyes
Inviting and inciting me to rise
And through the window in the wall
Comes streamin in on sunlight wings
A million bright ambassadors of morning
And no one sings me lullabies
And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky.
