Loved the set!, It was amazing!
The club was too packed but was to be expected, I guess.

my lil review:

i totally agree with u guys bout the 18+ environment. there were a shitload of annoying guidos bumpin into me and jus making me all pissed. the vibe was definitely lacking compared to that of the night of morillo or sander. lots of clueless idiots, walking around but besides that, tiesto wasnt bad. his mixing was better then usual imho, no major trainwrecks lol. serge devant ripped it up at the end though, played a bunch of filo & peri tracks and a bunch of his own productions, he definitely is someone to look out for, i dug his set totally more then tiesto's. not many ta's came out, but nice seeing, tom, jenn, big mike, joey and his brother, thero40, and whoever i missed.

tunes i remember tiesto playin:
katana - one solid wave
barbers adagio for strings (phynn rmx)
tiesto - just be
nikola gala - swing 2 harmony (g&d rmx)(tiesto edit)
peter martin - perfect wave (cheese in a can dub)
thomas datt - 2v2 (robert nickson rmx)
bunch more...

tunes i rem serge played:
filo & peri - dance with the devil
joe murena - always have tommorow (Filo & peri rmx)
serge devant feat may - fall upon me (probspot remix)
timeless (filo & peri rmx)
yoshimoto - du what u du (trentemoller remix)
serge devant - elektrofunk
and bunch of more serge tunes

ive said this in another post
but the days of tiesto in clubs is far from over
we will now have to see him in outdoor events or somethin
tiesto's set was pretty good, 10 times better then avalon that was the worst, and also better then his set at roxy in 2003
tiesto started out good and built up a lil bit
then this is where i got confused he was playin this hard trance/ tech-trance song then puts on ridgewalkers- find (andy moor mix)
how do you go from hard to progressive
he also did it when he played just be
that totally killed it, but other then that tiesto played alot harder then i expected, few techno songs and some good techy songs
as for the crowd it was terrable, thee were some cool people, but i say about 60% of the crowd were deadless, they were not danceing just watchin him and screaming, not to meantion there was this one old asian jerkoff who was doing the stupid head shake dance with his girl and kept pushing me and people around me so i couldent take it anymore i gave him a shove and we almost had a fight
crobar should have not been 18 last night should have been 21 and up
the montana mix of universal nation made my night
in final notes ill say it before and ill say it again like tiesto14 said and others said, you just have to cherish the tiesto moments pre 2003 in nyc
like exit,roxy
now a days hes too popular and the crowd is not the same
i guess next time he will be here will be a summerstage
so far ive only seen blank and jones and tiesto
and tiestos set was better, but we got armin next month, followed by ferry so i wouldent hold my thought about tiesto keeping his "number 1 spot" for very long
and the syestem at crobar was deff off a lil they needed to raise the mids a lil bit

it doesn't matter - nothing beats Tiesto @ Limelight
Gatecrasher Parties Ruled NYC (but never beat the twilo days)

Posted by AstralNrg on Feb-24-2005 21:04:

universal nation (montana mix)

Posted by AY STAR on Feb-24-2005 21:05:

yea i also meant limelight and world
i dident go to those partys but ive heard plenty of stories
and iam kicking my self in the ass for not going
and tiesto was supposed to start a residency at twilo but it got shutdown that would have been something to see tiesto at twilo
crobar is a great club its just the crowd these days
i mean there is a vibe and alot of energy to which tiesto brings
but its just not the same as it used to be,
but as for tiestos music last night was alot better then what i expected
i thought it was gonna be all old stuff from his concert to promote the dvd, but it was very good

sorry guys, i dont wanna start trouble or nething, so dont take me apart on this comment..... BUT...... it seems like a whole lot of u guys are growing up, and just being very very elitist about it. when u were 18, im sure u have the same stance as i do now.... if it were 21+, it would be the same, perhaps with just OLDER juiceheads and guidos and what not. Tiesto's music has been all over KTU and whatever "dance" CDs u can find, so i dont think its a matter of 18 y/o's ruining the vibe, its the fact that ppl are being fed the name Tiesto and nothing else other than Tiesto.... ask these KTU people who Paul van Dyk is, they dont know, when in reality, theyre both at the same level of fame, not to mention, some of PvD's tracks are worthy of play on KTU ("crush" anyone?)... its just what theyre fed, that makes them ignorant.... look at Europe... the clubs there are 18+, the huge festivals are 18+, many people there are dressed as guidos as well or what some ppl call "eurotrash", i think its totally unfair to just say parties shouldnt be 18+, when in reality, Louie Devito's following has branched out to the sounds of Tiesto. they love the dark mysterious tech-trance of "traffic" but dont bother to hear songs by Katana or Marcel Woods or Sam Sharp.... they like the nice techy song "obsession", yet dont bother to realise that there are songs better than that by the likes of Max Walder, Mauro Picotto, and hundreds of other tech producers......

...basically, if u were too lazy to read the previous paragraph ^^ read this.... dont generalize a certain age group as ruining a vibe.... many clubs and festivals in Europe dont even have age limit, ppl of 14 y/o go clubbing there, its insane..... the only thing to blame is the whole music scene in general. theres just as many 18 y/o's that are totally ignorant to the music, yet go clubbing a lot... as there are 21 y/o's that have no idea whats going on and go to clubs ne way....

Like someone said before Tiesto's mixing was totally on point maybe the best i've heard in my 11 experiences...Very Very hard shit not a MAGIK set by any means, but it was a good set just a little different from a set i would hear at Space or the Docks..i feel like tranvce DJ's feel like they have to change there style when they come to NYC they seem to forget that we buy thier albums for the same reason we pay 40$ to hear them spin for style that got them to wear they are 2day in Tiesto's case MAGIK sets...but whatever still a awsome set just wanted a little bit more MAGIK anyways sick remix of " Do what u want"- jase from outta space.... never heard that one and encore universal nation -push..WHAT!!!!!!!! and yeah the woman were on fire!!!!

+1 indeed, perhaps my 19 years keeps me biased, but truly, nyc has more yuppies than black & white cookies, and a barricade of 3 years isn't going to make or break any evening.
but on the other hand, crobar was waaay too crowded last night, so maybe if it were over 21, it would have kept space a bit more ample for the likes of tiesto... but im glad it wasn't

Eco,

While I agree with many of the things you said, you must realize that there is a big difference between 18 year olds from New York and 18 year olds from Europe. Having grown up in NY all my life, I have also been fortunate enough to gain a lot of clubbing experience in europe (been going there every summer all my life).

Ill be the first to say that the mentality of the under 21 demographic SUCKS for the most part here in New York. Of course there are exceptions, but last night I felt like i was in an episode of growing up Ghotti instead of crobar. Before I begin, I know some of you will say that "you're only 19 and have no fucking clue what you're talking about" but I can back everything up i say from first hand experience. For some reason, I get the impression that "kids" who go out in NYC go out with the mentality that they have to prove something. Europeans, on the contrary dont give a fuck (for the most part) and go out to have fun - the way it should be. This is one of the main reasons I rarely go out in NYC, I've simply been too spoiled with the good atmosphere of partying in europe. Nothing beats a warm outdoor club on a summer night filled with booze, good music, vibe and women who still look beautiful once the lights come on!

Rant For the Juiceheads: I have no problem with people taking steriods, we live in a free country after all. However, just because you are all juiced up does not mean you know how to fight, so stop acting all tough and pushing your way through the crowd. Last night i was one of the biggest people at the club and not once did i have to use force to get around. I dont understand why its so tough to be nice and polite.

Anyways, once i got inside after waiting an hour at the coatcheck I had a fun time partying with Dom and my girlfriend. I want to give a big thanks to Serge Devant for playing Dance with A Devil and a lot of our other tracks- you did great bro! Unfortunately, its going to be a while before I go out again to a big club in NYC. The time is definately much better spent/more fun in our studio! We should throw a party there come to think of it

Peace,
Bo

tf is black and white cookies? i'm a yuppie, because, technically, i'm a young professional. does that mean i don't enjoy the music? please, rephrase.

Very well put. Listen, Maybe I wasn't clear in my previous post, I HAVE NO PROBLEMS WITH CLUBS BEING 18+ IF THE PEOPLE GOING KNOW WHO THEY ARE GOING TO SEE!!!! My bro is 18 and some of his friends are the same age are are interested in checking out the scene FOR THE RIGHT REASONS. I remember what it was like when I was under 21 and I hated the fact that many parties were 21+. Yes it is true that there are many 21+ peeps that have no fuckin idea what is going on in the club and are there to show off their cut bodies and try to pick up some girl/guy for the night. From my perspective, it seems that the 18+ crowd has more peeps than a 21+ crowd to fit this category. And those of you who are not 21+ can't compare because you have no idea what it's like at a 21+ event. All I can say is wait until you get to the 21+ age group and then check out the 18+ parties & the 21+ parties and see the differencees so that then you can see what we're talking about. We ain't trying to hate on you. it's just that there's quite a few "bad apples that ruin the bunch".

Edit: BTW, when PVD comes to Crobar in April, it's probably gonna be an 18+ event & Paul will probably tear shit up just like Tiesto did. It seems like Crobar is making Friday night parties 18+ events. Sasha & Zabiela are going to be 18+ as well.

well, i actually didnt mean my reply as a reply toward ur review, i actually agree with u 100%, the fact that some1 was there that didnt know who was spinning that night is horrible and a disgrace to clubs.....

....and filoandperi, i agree with u as well about Europe, it is TOTALLY a different mentality, and i would know because i go there every summer for a month or so, and ive been to clubs all over Italy and France, and ur right for the most part about the teens there, they reeeeally go out just to have a blast at nite, meet new people, whatever.... (and i know this wasnt ur point, but im just saying, in general) making it an 21+ changes nothing... Tiesto's music is on the latest Louie Devito and DJ Riddler and Ultra Dance CDs and what not, hes gunna end up drawing a different demographic than he would have a couple years ago, when the only place u culd find his music was on MAGIK CDs and the like.... give the 18-20 age group a chance at least, and if u see some ignorant Gotti wannabes all over Crobar when Paul van Dyk comes to town, THEN i'll be the first to say "hmmm.... u guys were right i guess, these ppl have no idea whats going on".... but some ppl just have to start NOT caring about other ppl around them, and give up the elitist mentality.... when RIDGEWALKERS feat. EL's "find" is on the sound system at CROBAR, lose urself in the song, dont think about how the juicehead next to u thats calling it "techno" has never heard of it b4... is that so hard?

hm i see this shit every weekend... just be POLITE... that's at the root of my problems with people. whether it's a spilled drink, a hard elbow to the midsection, being stepped on by high heels, at least apologize. sorry, but little things can affect the rest of your night. i don't mind being tapped on the shoulder to clear a path for someone. i do mind being rubbed up against if a person wants to move past me... yuck. the ignorant thing is not as big a deal to me

Posted by DJ Eco on Feb-25-2005 03:08:

well yea, u have a really good point there, no1 can really counter that, so i agree with u there, i guess the little things like that can make a night out suck.
