Love

HAHAHAHHA, great comment Vivid Boy...
I think this thread should be renamed "Paula Reviews" !!!
i really dont know her, but that brat tried to steal my cowboy hat twice!!!! Funny girl.
Anyways , i had an amazing time, met a few TA's. Great music , even better crowd.
Toronto is incredible, drive back to school is terrible. Except for the fact that there are hundreds of "paula-esque" women on campus everyday! Laaaaaaates

I don't know what the consensus on cowboy hats is here in Ontario, but I am originally from the West (Calgary). Although I am not a cowgirl myself, seeing a guy wearing a hat is pretty sexy {as long as it looks good on him ..which it did }

I'm sorry I tried to swipe it (numerous times)- you were absolutely fun lovin' despite that it may have annoyed you.

Maybe the reason why I didn't meet many of you was that I was dancing my ass off to Orkidea and AVB, and was mainly chilling with the rest of the "Slavs"...

Jay was with Mandrick_V(I dunno if u remember me, i was the only TA who wearing a Mustage), and probably the BLUE_NEON was wearing CK Jeans top, we came together...Me and Jay were sitting on the bar where the TA banner was, while Ossia was spinning. That was supposed to be a meeting spot, but I saw just TranceArmada and Arcticboy and two more guys and a girl with nice parfumes were coming there to say hi. The rest were pointing at banner but were shy to say a word to us...Who could sit there, accept TA.....
Well, we were watching the banner not to be stolen and once we left that place it diappeard, lol. I couldn't just sit there when Orkidea took the wheels, my body started to move by itself while my brain was fighting with the Smirnoff Ice in my blood.

BTW, i liked the parking, it was a huge drinking place, and from time to time we just saw the guys coming out from the cars to take a leek.

Lots of memories.......

Saturday night has to have been the best fun i've ever had! This was my first rave (went with rob noli), and it was even better than i expected. I met alot of u guys, although i don't remember any of ur names (u probably don't remember me either, lol). had to leave before armin, which was really upsetting. but orkidea was just astounding!

and oh yes, the FREE FRUIT!! sweetest apple i've ever tasted!!!!

i can write a novel about how much fun i had, but i'm too tired so i'm going to take a nap (and dream about trance, oh, sweet trance)....

Absolutely amazing night! I can't express how much I enjoyed this party. After Wintergalactic I knew this wouldnt dissapoint me. I was impressed at the number of TA's as well. Everyone is so fun to party with. After Tiesto I was hoping to see you there Schmack, you are just too fun! Failsafe was the coolest guy too, you just never ran out of energy I loved the "Armin is God" shirt too. Trancearmada, the nametags helped a lot too! great idea. I was thoroughly impressed with Orkidea's set, I kinda wish it wasnt so long though because I ended up running out of energy with like 10 minutes left in Armin's set. Props to Sonic State though, another perfect night!

Mandrick_V, I probably wouldn't remember you, because I just came close to the meeting place for like 5-10 mins, hung around for just a little bit and tried to find some TA's in the meantime... but then I realized most of you are out there dancing, so I joined you in the crowd.

And I remember the moment I got to the meeting place the banner was still up there, but 2-3 minutes later me and BLUE_NEON (I guess it was him) noticed the banner wasn't there anymore, we turned around and looked behind the bar and saw it on the floor, so we figured it fell down... but since we had no clue how to put it back up (no tape?) and we were enjoying the tunes at the time, we just turned back to the crowd... (I admit it, I don't deserve to be a TA anymore!... please forgive me, guys!)

Posted by Flec on Nov-12-2001 21:24:

anyways my friend psyber i think thats his TA name, he won the contest on the webpage but couldnt go. so i was supposed to get everyrthing instead of him. i called nick( or andre) and he said everything was cool. when i got there i told the guy my name and i looked on the list as i said it and my name wasnt there! luckily he didnt hear what i said so i just said i was the other guy.

i get in their and at like 3am i found andre(or nick lol) and they said just wait armin will be down in 20 min.... i never fuckign got my free drinks, orkidea record, privatly met armin etc.. or anything i asked him if i could go up on the stage for a min even and he wouldnt let me. he was being such a dick to me :/

anyways it was amazing i managed to get armins autographed a couple times :P and i got to talk to orkidea for about 5 min behind the dj booth and got his autoraph as well.

Holy Tranceaddicts! I don't think we've ever met up in so many numbers like last night. Props to trancearmada, those nametags really helped out. Also thanks for getting me that VIP pass, you got major connections bro! To those of you that can't remeber my name (I'm really bad with names too), I was the asian guy with the orange fingerlights on all my fingers. Matt (I forget your TA name), Arctic Boy, and the rest of you, that was some good shizz eh? And to the rest of you TA's that I met, and I'm pretty sure I met or run into all of you, thanks for being so friendly, you're all wicked people.

On to the party. WG 2001 showed me what the Sonic State crew can do, make the best parties ever. This one was no exception. Instead of resting on thier laurels and setting up the Docks like last Wintergalactic, their fresh ideas keep coming and coming. I realky like how they set up the DJ booth ahead of the stage, wicked idea, it gave the crowd a chance to get really close to their "Gods" . I really liked the fabric overhead as well, it gave the main room a much more intimate vibe.

Music wise, Orkidea made my night. I missed his set at WG because everyone left after Tiesto finished, so I began the night without any expectations. I think we can all say that everyone was blown away by his set, he really got the crowd going. To put him before Armin was perfect, nearly everyone would stay for Armin, so they'd have to hear Orkidea as well. Now that we know what he can do, I'd be a happy guy if it was just him headling a party. Ian Ossia was ok, but he kinda lacked the energy I expect in a set, but maybe he was just playing his timeslot. Armin set was great as well, or at least felt great, I can't really give a well read (or well listened) review on his set for classified reasons. Of course it sucked that he cut his set short, but Nick from SS told me that one of the needles on the deck broke and Armin didn't like the Vestax decks to begin with. I'm not bashing Vestax at all, actually I'm happy that the party got sponsored by them, if Sonic State is gonna keep throwing parties of this calibre they need all the money they can get. Anyways back on topic. Did anyone check out the turntablists in the Now lounge around 2:30?? Holy faaaak! The guy on the left scratching with two Madonna - Music records was absolutely sick.

The crowd was also what I've come to expect from a sonic state party, super friendly. A bit of an older crowd though, but maybe because of all the other parties happening that day. Oh well, s'all good. To Nick, Andre, and the whole Sonic State crew, thanks for throwing such an amazing party. See you all at Wintergalactic next year.

HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!! What an amazing night!!

To begin, Orkidea was great. I didnt hear much of his tracks but still expected a good set because of all talk going around about him.
Anyways he did inpress me, and his highlight was PPK Resurection, man I love that track. It brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

It was then time for the main event - AVB was up next, and man he was AMAZING!! This must have been arguably the best set i've ever been to.(the other being Tiesto @ Kool Haus) AVB played all epic trance and lots of my favourite tracks: rapture, urban train, communication and much more!!

Damn, I met ALOT!! of TA's, it was nice to finally see you in person. I would name some of you but there were so many that I cant even remember anyones name, lol anyways i'm terrible with names.

BTW, I was the guy with the yellow visor and the photon micro lights. I hope you guys enjoyed mine and my bro's(Cloud9) light shows!!

Was it you and your bro with the green and blue? That was fucking sick!

I cant believe you made those things.

Smile An excellent night out.

WOW!!!

I don't get to check out the trance addict forums too often so I clicked on the thread and was greeted with 5 pages!!!! And its only Monday! LOL

Well I thought I would add my two cents anyways

I got there with my roomate after celebrating a friends birthday party by doing some bar hopping. Arrived at 11:00 because I was worried about a lineup, apparently I didn't need to be because OMG there was no one there. When we first arrived I was afraid that the party had gotten shut down for some reason because there were hardly any cars in the parking lot! Then I realized that I have never been able to make it to a party before 12:00, so I figured I would wait and that it would fill up, which it did. The amount of people was a very nice number, enough to give the place life but not too many to make dancing hard (its a shame that Sonic State lost money on it however). Although I had hard time dancing as much as I usually do due to the fact that I had been working an insane amount of hours the entire week.

I was extremely impressed by the way the docks were setup, fantastic way of doing it!! And the dj booth was a stroke of genius! I'm sure everyone who wanted a signature (which I think may have actually been everyone LOL) found it much easier to do so. To be truthful I enjoyed Armin (gotta love a dj who's is having as great a time as the crowd!!!) but I didn't think he was the best set of the night for me. Ian Ossia stole the show for my tastes, playing some nice deep prog, and Orkidea really surprised me! I hadn't seen Orkidea live before and was expecting a very subdued melodic set from mixes I have heard, but the man can program a set with the best of them for sure! Talk about a fucking fantastic flowing set!! I also felt bad for Billy Nasty, he was one of the big reasons that I came and the crowd in there was so tiny, that I even found myself wandering out into the main room for pretty much all of Armin's set and only saw about a combined hour of Nasty's set. And I can't forget Hibernate's Live PA, Kevin and Otis put on an absolutely slammin set!!! Mmmmm nice and hard acid techno to progressive trance.

OH FACK!!! I don't belive I could almost forget!!! The best part of the night for me was the violinest(sp?)!! That was jaw dropping indeed and shows great creative talent from the Sonic State boys and girls.

All in all though I had a fantastic night, with astounding music, awesome decor, but of course like any thing else it was the company that made my night.

mystery man

fantom-
I had an acquaintance there who is Polish & wore a white CK Jeans sweatshirt, named Tom- is this the guy you're referring to? If so, I got his email address that night- let me know if u need it.

Aiight kids, time for me to toss in my random babble... ;D

Since I went down to NYC, then Wintergalactic with the SS crew early on this year, they made a big impact on me, and when I saw that they were hosting another party... Out I went and nabbed a bunch of tickets. w00t! Got introduced to Orkidea back then, and listened to his Club Unity sets all summer long... When I found out he was coming to State... Aww, yeah... Showed up at about 11:30, marvelled at the absolute lack of a line (that's just unheard of), and went in. Me and my friend Dave (we were the two tall guys at the back, I've got the orange hair) were waiting for Orkidea... The first third of his set was a decent intro, but then he just went insane. After the guy came on with the violin (jesus, that was fuckin' cool) he just dropped the beats. When he spun Luna Park - Space Melody, I think I tore my vocal chords. I think I was damn near gonna cry, that just made the night. And no, no drugs for me (not saying anything, just saying I was all good and clean... ). When Armin came on... Goddamn. Those were some heavy tunes. Me and the rest of my group, all eight of us, shoved up to the front (apologies if we blocked anybody). Just danced like mad!

I gotta say, that was a great party. I will do that again, anytime. SS has proven themselves to throw killer parties. Props to all of them, and the people that helped setup the Docks.

And if I had actually known about the name tags (I dunno why I didn't, my head was prolly wedged up my ass or something), I woulda said hi. Next time...

And the 16 hour sleep afterwards. For once, Monday didn't suck ass!

Got his e-mail address that night? Wow, he must have left some impression on you or something, since I couldn't even remember his name... but then again, I met at least a million people that night, and if I knew about those name tags (now I know what they were for!), I would've said hi or at least got me one...

Anyway, tatgirl, I don't really need his e-mail address, but knowing his TA nick (or just hearing from him on this board) would be nice...

And I guess I managed to see you, tranner, that night too, and your red fingerlights...

I was the guy with 4 green glowstix just dancing my ass off in the middle of the dance floor (and losing a few people in my lightshows)... by the way, the other buddy of mine (who also happened to have 4 of those green bad boys with him) might be featured on that next video SS crew is preparing for us, since he was interviewed (short but sweet) by the lady that I believe was in charge of the WG2001 video too

Talking WOW!

This party exceeded my expectations by far.
First of all I thought there were going to be a lot of underage kids,
but when I got there I was impressed by the set ups, the free fruit!,
And then of course, the music! It was my first time hearing Armin live, and was I ever in a trance. As for Orkidea, he was the perfect parnter for Armin for this night. Awesome choice of tracks to play!!
The crowd was great, everyone danced, and when the old old classics all the way at the end at 6:30 were played, the crowd was still there
cheering the DJ on. It is a party to remember 4ever!
Can't wait to get all the tracklist from u all!

K.K.

Posted by trancearmada on Nov-13-2001 04:54:

Satan (eek!) SS RULEZ!

ALL in all I had a really good time.
This is what happened to me! (story of my life! LOL!)

Got to the parking lot of The Docks at around 10. Chugged a bottle of Rev in the parking lot. Than me and 'tranner' saw Halo_20 runing around trying to sell tickets! WOOT! I did not even know it was one of the TA's at first.
Well since I won in the contest, and won the VIP pass, I should have gone to the VIP line-up but my stupidity told me to go to the regular line-up. I already had a ticket and there was no one at the front to tell me where to look for VIP stuff. Earlier 5 days before Nick (from SS) told me that we should just meet at the TA meet up. But I ran in to him a little later.

First ppl to see me and tranner were 'Grafal' and 'misiek'. Than since I thought I had my whole night planned out going around everywhere to look at all kinds of DJ's. Well that plan totaly failed, I spend most of the night in the VIP lounge.

I chugged a Smirnoff Ice and went back on to the dancefloor with 'tranner', was looking and waiting under the TA sign. Thanx to 'toosweet' again for making the banner! Wicked job!
Did not see anyone, so we decided to check out Hibernate. I did not feel the vibe there, since there was not a lot of ppl to begin with. Went back out Ian Ossia was playing some nice prog stuff near the end of his set.
Than I decided to go check out the Techno lounge. There I met Nick (one of the SS promoters). He explained that I should have lined up and got my VIP pass from the Guest list at the entrance.

So he ran over and grabbed a VIP pass for me and 'tranner'. He introduced me to Orkidea and another Finish House DJ that came along with Orkidea. He ran off and told me to meet him later on at the VIP lounge. I went up to the VIP lounge had another Smirnoff.

Went back out on to the dancefloor and ran into everyone else. 'Swamper', 'StereoPrincess', 'Halo20', 'Blue_Neon'(man you had the best smile and attitude all night, was really cool to hang with you bro) 'TranceXtasy', 'Mandrick_V' and many many more. Forgive me but I am still trying to recover. Can't remember all the names. I am sure you understand. (It's a long story and I will try to tell it all). Than walking around and drinking more and more, I was becoming a little drunk. But all in all I ran into about 40 of you. I am glad that you guys liked the 'name tags' idea. But it is definetly time for me to invest into a 'TA' t-shirt.

After that I went back into the VIP lounge hung around there for another 20 min or so. There I ran into Orkidea and bought him a beer. We had a nice conversation about music for about 30 min.

I asked him about mp3's and what he thinks of them. He said he likes the idea of free promotions, but the records of vinyls have dropped a lot lately (apperantly!)

I asked him what he thinks of the Trance scene, and where it is headed. He told me that it looks like everything is going progressive lately. He talked about that eventual step that you have to take. Just because there seems to be a need for a change.

I asked him whether he listened to anyother type of music. He told me that PVD is his idol and he really likes the idea of combining a number of styles in his set.

There was a few other things we talked but I was kind of drunk and don't remember everything exactly yet! (Still recovering! LOL!) He had to run to play his set. So we shook hands I asked him to take a pic with me and he did also signed an autograph!

Than I was waiting around for NICK to show up. So I was just hanging around at the VIP. For like an hour, than I said to my self fuck it! And went down to the dancefloor to shake my ass!

Than ran into more and more TA's! Everyone was recognizing me since I had that 'TA' name tag! And everyone was asking for one. At around 1am or so I completely lost count of how many of you I met! I think it was about 50 by than.

At around 2:45 I went back up to the VIP and waited around for Nick. He did not show up for another 30 min. Than he told me that Armin was in the building and was gonna start his set at around 2:45-3:00.
So I asked Nick whether I should wait here or if I could go upstairs to meet him? I don't remember what was said, but Nick ran off on me again. I was kind of getting a bit pissed. I mean was not there just out of the blue, I was there cause I won in the contest. BTW did not really see anyone else who had won in that contest. I guess there were some of you there.

SO I waited and waited like a total moron. Ran around trying to look for Nick. When I finally caught up to him at around 4:30. I asked him whether I could go up to at least take a pic with Armin, he told me that he would try to do that. Than ran off again. (I understand all the stress, since Armin showed up late. But come on, I was just getting frustrated by than). Than Nick ran into me and told me to go upstairs with him. We got upstairs and he handed me a copy of 'Orkidea's' CD 'Unity 10'. Nice compilation signed by the man himself, some tunes were dated though. Than Nick ran off again, came back again. Told me to come with him. I went up to the stage all ready and pumped to see Armin. Armin's promoter/bodyguard, who ever it was, told me to leave and come back 30 min later. I came back he told me to come back another 30 min later. I was like WTF is all this bullshit. Than Nick ran into me again and asked me whether I got to see Armin yet. I was like no that guy told me told leave and told me to come back later. By than it was like 6am!

Nick finally took me up to see Armin, I asked him to sign an autograph and take a pic with me. He seems like a very nice guy, but I did not even get to talk with him, I just said 'Hi' and that was it.
Than that 'Vestax' deck fucked up on him.

When I came off stage I was just hanging around was trying to enjoy the last moments of the set. When suddenly Armin stopped and only played an ancore tune.

Than when the lights went on. Most of the TA's ran over and stalked Armin. I took a few shots of the TA's with Armin.

By that I was more really tired and a bit pissed. But I was invited by Nick to come to the afterparty and was handed a pass to bring a friend. I gave that pass to 'StereoPrincess'. I am sorry u could not make it.

I got home at 8 am, went to sleep got up at 4pm and than 'tranner' called me and asked me whether I wanted to go to the afterparty. I said why not.

So at around 8pm I left for Toronto. The afterparty was at the 'Element Bar'. We got there at 9pm the party was suposed to start at like 8pm, but there was no one there. We hung around for 30 min and I talked to Nick again. We took off to get something to eat. Came back at around 11:15, than I ran into Andre (really nice guy). He apologized for the last night and told me that SS will make it up to me and send me all kinds of cool stuff) and another nice surprise! THANK YOU GUYS u da best!
Orkidea began spining at around 11:30 upstairs. He played 'B16 - Escape (Driving to Heaven)', 'Planet Funk - Inside All The People (Deep Dish Remix)' and a few other really nice progressive tracks. Than Nick and Andre decided to more everyone downstairs, that Finish DJ that came with Orkidea played a really nice set, a lot of house. I was chilling at first that I found some sort of energy to dance. Than 'Ian Ossia' came on. Nice progressive set as well. Orkidea came back on for like 15 min.

I had a really great conversation with Andree! After being to the Wintergalactic parties and now 'State' I have complete respect for those guys!

Overall I had a really good time, other than for waiting around for Nick for most of the night. Once again I totaly and completely understand that as promoters they (Nick & Andree) had to run around all night to make things work.

I am so glad my name tag idea worked out and that I met up with so many TA's!
As for the sets. I loved Armin's set, but I found it once again very predictable in a lot of aspects. I was pleased though. I asked Armin to play 'Rising Star - Clear Blue Moon' and he did!
I got to take a pic with Orkidea and Armin.

I still liked Orkidea's set better than Armin's. I thought Orkidea did an outstanding show.

OK I am feeling just a bit tired and my hands feel a bit numbed after writing all this. Thanx to all the TA's for coming out and representing once again!

RESPECT to the Sonic State crew for putting on such a great venue! This was an absolutely wicked party! Thank you again for alowing me to meet Armin and Orkidea!
I am absolutely speechless! WOW!

P.S. Andre if you are reading this! 'Who needs TIBE? TRANCE-ADDICT simply is the best Toronto based BBS! '

P.S.2
Nick told me that Orkidea and a couple of other DJ's have recorded live sets with Dr. Trance @ 1groove.com and they should be available the next time Technopolis is broadcasted!

fathom-
well, it was my 3rd time running into Tom, & I have some pics to email him from previous parties, so that's why I grabbed his email. As for his TA board name, I wouldn't have a clue- I am pretty 'green' to this site. After seeing their banner up at the party this weekend, I am gonna make a point of being on here more often.
