-- Danny Howells - Global Underground 027: Miami
Pages (5): « 1 2 [3] 4 5 »
The tracks are pretty decent. However, there's 3-4 mixes on each CD that are pretty bad imo. Considering the label and the status of Danny Howells and that he's supposed to be a "worldclass DJ", I'm quite surprised they let those mixes slide.
just arrived....I am listening to disk1 and it is simply amazing....especially after 07.Tantra - Hills of katmandu...I was getting asleep when that track started and 'tsaf'!
Heard CD2 today, rather good, and just what GU needed to be pulled out of the "prog" ditch it has been stuck in for the last 3 years. A solid set of just plain good house music, with influences from various genres sprinkled on top. Favs would have to be the quirky yet extremely cool remix of Throbbing Gristle as well as the Wighomy Bros. track, which is probably the best I've heard from them(him?) so far.
10 bucks says Danny didn't pick out Ashtrax - Freeload himself though. It's boring, doesn't fit in and disrupts the flow of the CD.

CD2 is good. CD1 is stunning. So smooth. 10/10.

I had the mp3 for a while, but bought the original yesterday. Awesome cd. Pure summer bliss
I've been listening to it all week. Brilliant is the only word that describes it.
Nice album! CD 1 is awesome and CD 2 is good, but little boring.
8/10

Just listened to this compilation, and it's amazing! I really dont have a preference as to which disc is better; both are very listenable. Great mix throughout.

ashtrax - freeload was the first track that came to my attention in the cd. but after 1 or 2 listens of the whole thing.. i've got to agree that it's one of the worst
not nearly as classy as the first bunch of tracks
paranoik0 what the hell
i thought you had good taste in music
Bent - Exercice 5 (last track on CD1) & Bobby Peru - Blood Money (somewhere in the middle of CD2) ARE THE BEST FUCKIN' TRACKS
GU027 is probably in the top 3 best GUs ever

One word: AMAZING!!!

Have to agree, this is quite the CD set! I love the groove he sets down on both CDs...mmm mmm mmm!
just bought it. I've only listen to CD 1 like 5 times. It's just amazing. Starts off smoothly with Light Shine (great hipnotic tune) and then goes a bit electro, but then from Mission by DJ Nique (wow!) it just goes groovy and a bit funky (Boogie Down --> one hell of a track!)... Hope CD 2 stays at the same level.
''CD 2 of this mix is what Danny played in he main room at Space in the early hours of Sunday morning, and CD 1 is what he played out on the Terrace when the sun had come up.''
Just looked in Amazon.com There's also a Long Version of this GU... with 2 tracks between track 12 and 13 (last one):
- Voigt & Voigt - Mittendrin
- Oxtongue - Delight (Original Mix)
