Marco V wiped all you prog lovers with his ass couple weeks ago. Now that was nice and hard.

A friend of mine who loves house music and doesnt know much about these DJ's even mentioned how boring it was. That alone reassured me how right i am.

Evolved? Why the fuck do all you TA prog elitists have to "evolve" to stay in tune with "whats in"

Give me a break. ITs simple kids... IT WAS BORING!!! hardly any evergy or versatility. It was just plain.

PS PROG SUCKS!!!

Zabiela was a lot of fun...anyone who likes HIS style will probably agree. He and MO kept me dancing all night long...and I'm mainly a trance fan!

Saying it was "boring" is just ignorant...YOU were bored, the music was far from boring. Big difference.

stop being a jackass and ruining a review thread...you've made your point

I knew he was spinning last night before i went tot he club.. but i had prior engagements there. It was a coincidence this all happened in the same night.

This was the first time i saw Zabiela spin and after hearing how "godly" he was from every trance hater on this website... i was once again assured that many people here are dillusional when they hype up prog and downplay the masterful work of MArco V

Shame on you "TRANCE"addicts!!!

After reading this review thread I guess most of you can figure out why I called myself musicsnob_not. A lot of people on this board have to get over themselves. Go out and have a good time, make the night fun instead of bitching all the time. As others have said, grow up.

Didn't decide until late to go and really glad I did. I was worried that I might find it boring but it was anything but. Zabiela was very good, kept me moving all night. Oliver came on and to quote Irish Graham "this is fookin good". Had to leave early (6:15am) because I had a brunch to go to.

As always its the people you party with that make a good night into a great night. MarkT - always fun, but that is it for me until Armin. Graham - your energy is amazing, you can always catch a ride with me as long as you don't drop anymore of those bombs. Met a few TA's I hadn't met - Ubertrancer (Alex), Chanoa (have fun at WMC), Karim (I hope I look ok in the picture), and there were some others but the mind isn't working well on 2 hours sleep.

no it's not.don't make a generalization. it's embarassing for people like Blue_Neon who respond like "Can I buy a nuke off you?" and these 2 confused individuals who mix up a review thread with a place to make childish revenge on people who don't like their favorite DJs.

ignorance is the key, it doesn't matter who the DJ is, it's the stupid Trance v.s Prog war , even if they're so ignorant to know James Zabiela is not a typical prog dj, they don't care it's just a foolish game going on here.
for their information (not that they would really care) this sums up the stupidity of their posts:
"Fusing the latest breakbeat slates into dark swathes of way-deep tech-house, the key to Zabielas sound is a heady mix of bump-laden melodies and subtle, soul-stirring chord changes. Avoiding the relentless assault of the four/four beat he dips into every wayward sound that surrounds it instead. Nathan Coles, Rocket and Terry Lee Brown Junior are just three of his favourite producers this week. Its all about avoiding the perfect beat, ysee. I hate to pigeon-hole myself, he says. I play a mixture of all styles which I believe is a style in itself. I like to go smoothly from one style to another. Why put boundaries on yourself? A typical set varys depending on the slot I'm given but if was to play the whole night I'd go from deep house to techno and breakbeat"
now, what on earth has that to do with prog v.s trance? or fuck prog? or prog sucks? he's not even a prog DJ per se. now try to explain that to a narow-minded Trance fachist. won't work!
found a set boring? that's fine, but making generalized statments about every non-trance DJ or making petty revengeful comments makes THEM look stupid and childish not the others.people who have broad minds understand and move on , narrow-minded ones will just stagnate.
just my 2 cents.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ the way a REAL post should be.
Also, just because you don't like a certain style of music does not mean it's ass. (Especially in our scene.) It means it doesn't suit your taste, besides, this is rarely the case because even if you're not into a certain style of say "house" or "trance" then there are mixtures of styles that combine elements of everything, things are not so black and white. It took me a while to get into progressive because as Rj says I had to "get it". It was the same way with trance...just have to find a style you like and explore it. No more bashing or childish name calling on EITHER side.

This night fell apart for me from the start. I was working from 4 am to 4 pm saturday, and when I got home, there was so much shit to get done before the party that I barely got any sleep. I was also really sick, developing a flu and even had a bit of a fever. But I had to make it out none the less because it was one of my best friends birthdays.

So we make it to Guv, and sure enough, I have no ID. FACK!! I had to drive all the way back to hamilton, to pick up id, and then back to the Guv. Not only that, they closed the gardiner, both ways, due to construction, so that made it 50 times harder considering I don't know the city too well and lakeshore traffic was BRUTAL.

Finally get back to the Guv around 2:15, and wait in the coat check lineup for over 30 minutes. JZ was already spinning but my patience was so paper thin and continuely tested I had a tough time relaxing. I went to get some "relaxant" and it put me to sleep. I tried ever so hard to make this party happen but sadly it seemed that everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong. My first bad night at guv.

At around 4:15, things started looking up. I wish I concentrated more on JZ's set but my mind wasn't there.

Nonetheless it was great partying and meeting alot of TA's! Andrea, always a pleasure. Alex, good times! MarkT, musicsnob_not, DJ LKD, Graham great meeting you guys. If I'm forgetting anybody, apologies, the night's a bit of a blur. Milos, it's been way too long, I haven't seen you since highschool! Jayx1, I wanted to meet you last night but never ended up finding ya.

Sorry LKD, I dunno what happened on the balcony. I think the bouncer was ushering me out so I just walked off without thinking. My bad.

At least the end of the night pulled through to be a good time.

wicked night!!!
i was so tired after the Mistress on Friday that i didnt expect much. But zabiela once again showed how good he really is with a phenomenal set.

Mark was brilliant as well setting James up beautifully and then taking the BPM to a new level afterwords.

FYI, I cleaned up the thread, it was a mess.

Posted by infinity HiGH on Mar-07-2005 06:35:

Honestly, if someone says something along the lines of:

"Yea, I didn't enjoy it at all. It's not my cup of tea but it was my friends bday, so I showed up"

...then I don't have a problem with it one bit. You didn't have fun. Fine. Or, just don't post in the thread like I didn't in the Marco V thread, because I had nothing positive to say about the actual music.

But coming in and saying "oh man that was soooooo boring! zzZZzzz ZZzzZZ!! This party just confirmed my absolute hatred for "prog" is totally disrespectful to the DJ, and it's complete flamebait. Not to mention it's pretty ignorant.

Honestly, think before you say it. I've made an effort to not partake in any trance/Tiesto-related threads because I know what I would say in those, but I'm tired of arguing. It's a shame others still wanna keep it going though..............

Oh, and when I say "evolve your musical tastes" it's not about moving from trance to prog. Thats just so 2002 and complete bullshit. It's about actually expanding your horizons to other sounds; and this includes everything from house, to breaks, to rock and hip hop.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a HUGE zabiela fan. I love his sound and my favorite track of recent time is his remix of Ficta - Eli. When he does breaks he does them spot on, and I did like many of the tracks he played, I just wasn't in a position to comment on his programming, and his overall set (since I did miss the beginning of it).

It was external sources against me, nothing against the music. I did everything in my power that night to make sure my killed buzz didn't kill anybody elses.

ah ha!! it's people like you that i'm scared of. why is it so hard to think a little bit about others and stay home if you are sick. how many others did you get sick just for one night of fun?

Are you kidding me? If you're so scared of people like me, you should be the one staying home. FYI it wasn't the flu. It woulda hit me harder by now and I feel fine today sans meds.

No wonder TA always turns into a flame war.

i didn't mean it as anything insulting. u are the one that said you thought u had the flu but went anyways. is that smart?
