1999 - Transition from Hip-Hop to EDM through Moby's Play
2000 - Kept with Moby, and a mix of popular MTV stuff
2001 - Started listening to Top-40 EDM, eventually heard artists such as Moonman and Gouryella, both of which were the main reason for me liking Trance. Also went through a DnB phase.
2002 - Trance, DnB
2003 - Trance. Listened to some Sasha & Digweed stuff, thought it was boring.
2004 - Transition from Trance to House towards the end of the year. Started to enjoy all facets of EDM, often listening to Techno, Chillout, and DnB.
2005 - House primarily, although I still enjoyed a lot of varying sub-genres.
timeline order
-rock, oldies
-hip hop, cheezy trance and cheezy house
-trance, cheezy house
-trance, house, drum&bass, breaks
-prog trance, prog house
-prog house, trance
-now: house: proggy, electro, tribal, acid.... trance: prog, tech-trance.... techno
but i still listen oldies ( depeche mode, nirvana,60s, 70s, 80s music ....)
when i first got into EDM, it was around 2002. but most of the music i started listening to was stuff from '99/'00 to '02. i was huge into the Magik Series, and i guess pretty much anything Tiesto spun.
but over the years, i've shifted to more of an "Armin" sound. i'm no ASOT Whore [mainly because i just forget on thursdays], but Armin's livesets are usually cool. but then again i'm a fan of blank & jones, perry o'neil, peter martin, and matthew dekay.
so i don't really know if my music listening has "evolved" considering i'm really just all over the place. oh well. i guess nowadays i'm looking for stuff that is really more along the lines you'd hear in a nightclub or something [big bass, big buildups, etc...]. trance/prog that has more emotion to it. damn is any of this making sense?
