All I know is that I just started listening to prog, and everything else, that you guys listen to, sucks!
Proggy is the best at the moment.
I like prog, and trance-prog, and prog-trance, but not much DJ Sammy!
Gotta have bitches singing though...

Elitists aren't bad. In fact, they're actually rather elite.
Now go sit in the corner n00b.

I remember when I first joined, there would be alot of stuff that was quite informative being posted. I learned alot about who was producing behind the various artists names, people would talk about aliases, there would be a lot of threads which the subject line sould be just the name of some song that I never heard of and people would discus the tune inside. There would be a lot of talk about recomendations of tunes to check out, which I am forever grateful for.
A lot of threads would start with people looking to find more tracks of a specific style, they would list some tunes they had and ask for more tunes that went well with them. I found many musicians this way, just by lurking and reading people's comments on tunes. I didn't post very much back then, because I had so little knowledge to contribute to the discussions.
There were the ocdcasional philosophical arguments about weather trance was dying or what songs had the most musical merit, but it was quite different then what is happening these days, where people now seemed to be aligned in almost 2 divided factions.
What I miss about the old discussions we had(besides the hot rave chix picture thread) is that there seemed to be alot more talk about the actual music and a lot less of this genre wars bull crap. I used to be able to come here and actually learn something about trance music by reading people's posts.
The huge argument threads are very fun(or else I wouldnt join in) but I find myself missing the informative posts. I kind of resent the people who are commonly called 'elite' here because they seem to no longer have informative posts about music. I see more and more difference of opinion, the endless effort to point out the stupidity of others, and general bitching about the decline in quality, im not seeing nearly as many tune recomendation threads as I would like anymore.
Fuck being a newbie or an elitists, can we stop arguing for a little bit and talk about music again?

I we need to realize that TA will never be what it was back in 2001-2002 again. The influx of new members since then is simply too large, which again makes more and more idiots coming on TA inevitable. Thus we just have to make the best of what we have.
i have no problems discussing music with people that share my tastes. of course those threads usually end up being about 5 people that are posting in it and then it dies...
and really...i've kinda come to the point where i invest a lot of my time in researching and finding wonderful tracks that no one else knows about...and when i put in that kinda effort simply because i love music...i'm not really willing to share my information with people that just kind start a thread that says..."i need new tracks"...without any kind of effort. i'd rather keep them for myself and the people i like to talk to about music...i think that really this site comes down to what you put into it. i feel like i've made my contributions and so i feel everyone else should too before i just start doing a bunch of leg work for people...
I think that the "I work hard to find this info, so I'm not going to share it with the kids who dont" idea is a little selfish.
When DJ's do this it ruins the 'discovered' musician's chances for ever being noticed and it almost hordes the tunes to a specific few who have access to the info. Without the consumer the music dies, it shouldn't be used as a tool for DJ stardom, it should be given to everyone so that they can all enjoy its value.
I'm not saying you're doing this though floorfiller.
I think we all come here and bring a different set of tunes and styles with us. Some of us appear better at finding stuff than others, some kids just don't know how to do the leg work to find music. I wouldn't have my abilities to find music(however limited they may be) if I hadn't learned them from reading the posts here.
If I started all over again with no clue, I don't think I would be able to come here and learn how to do that in this age. I think that the valuable information that was here before has been largely displaced by arguing and bitching.
I'm not saying that those who are in the know have to share every one of their finds with the horde of newbies who will likely not appreciate the effort, but I think we could all do better than what we are doing now. It isn't hard to come up with some useful information that is missing in our discussions and posting it once a month, imagine if 10 kids posted useful infromation on a monthly basis, so many kids would be more informed, so many retards would become less retarded.
now that is a way of thinking that i will never be able to relate to...being stingy with tunes and info just because you worked really hard to find that information or song... lol christ, i don't care if i had to walk across a hot desert to get a great tune or some artist info...i'd gladly share it with anyone who asked. that's just me though. i'm always willing to drop everything and help someone out. i never understood why people actually get offended if you go in a chatroom and say, "hey guys, does anyone know when this track is getting released?" without candy coating it first. it's funny to watch everyone get annnoyed because you didn't butter them up first before asking. i actually get annoyed when people do that to me in person...like call me up and start asking me all these dumb "small talk" questions, followed by a, "oh by the way, would you mind if..." just fucking get to the point and ask me, i don't give a shit.
u guys need to get your heads out of your cyber asses.
