yeah was a wicked night, great music, unfortunatly had to split early as i had work in the morning, but ill def be out to more of those styled events.
that was fun. thanking the TA lads for the time!
As for Fortier, I actually enjoyed how he emerged with a few funky tunes. Far from the hand-baggy i thought. Subtle vocals with back-stage like grooves. I've yet to listen to his balance release, but I'm sure the set was an intimate in-depth elaboration, of his experimental, but strong views on the direction of progressive music - "What the fuck is progressive?"
Such an array, such an arsenal. So many tunes, so many funny feelings. I rode on beams of light with climatic build-ups, and leaped out from boxes "jack" jumped from with cheeky analog melodies. I felt vibrations, grooved with minimalastic basslines, perspired beads of sweat, and shared moments with like-minded souls. I cant say I dug the upbeat meaty tech 3-3.5 hours in though, twas just not me
And SQ-K, that remix was Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke remix. I heard it on the radio on the trip back home. Needless to say, an hr later, i secured a copy online.
so much fucking fun, Infusion, I think I'll come!
though i hear gav keitel mixes like a one-armed ass jockey. true?
i wasnt too impressed with his set. he played some cool tracks but overall I found him to be a bit flat and a tad boring
he just didnt do it for me

| Originally posted by Renegade I'm starting to get the feeling he played a different sort of set up in Sydney. I could understand if someone thought the sort of set he played in Melbourne was a bit repetitive or something, but the word "flat" could not have been used to describe it. Apart from the first half an hour or so, he was banging it out constantly for the entire four hours. Showcased a wide range of genres too, but they all mixed together perfectly. |
flat is probably the worst possible description .. everytime you would go to take a slash or grab a beer, you'd come back and it'd be a totally different sound to when you left.
when i mean flat i mean a lot of the tracks he played were very monotonous.. they didn't go anywhere (for me)
id heard great things about fortier, maybe i was just expecting a bit more. also i was still recovering from the night before so maybe that added to the flat vibe i was getting
This mix is so impressive. Especially cd2.
