so basically psy can be both rhythmn driven with funky bass line
and trippy acid synths and loops ,but at the same time you can layer it with ,melodic arps with lots of chord progression.
Is this what you mean

never copy
you sound like you want all the answers before you start.... if you just copy someone then you are just going to sound the same and not stand out at all. the software you have is more than enough but you need to get to know it so draw in some notes and loop it and play with all the parameters of your synth to see what each one does to the sound....break down some psy trance tunes and see how they are structured.... learn of the proffessional.... after breaking down a few tunes and using there tune as a template you will have a firm base to writing ure own
its all about structure.... p.s have fun you will get there

Psy is about mangling sound. So a synth with a good modulation matrix would be a good place to start. That will let you do things like patch the LFO through to pitch and filters for example.
Albino has a decent one and is extremely easy to use, though its filters sound a bit weak imho for psy trance, so you might want to combine it with something like Antares Filterbank. Absynth lets you do some pretty amzing things with envelopes and such and is just a great synth for trippy swooshy soundscape effects... perfect for psy fx.
Moog modular might be worth a look too. I havnt tried it, but it looks like the real deal for modulating sounds.
Psy is less forulaic than uplifting trance, so dont try and set down too much of a structure.. just experiment away, get a good beat and bassline going first and start layering stuff.
