Believe it or not, the "legal" capacity of Plush is MORE than The Commodore.

As it was already mentioned, The Commodore costs several thousand dollars to secure. The reality is that it is owned by a beer company that can afford to charge that kind of cash for this type of event.

Plush is not the "best" venue in Vancouver however it is improving and has improved GREATLY in the past year. The rennovations have really changed things around in there... New paint, new flooring, re-done bars, new lighting, extra sound have all made a difference. Ask ANYONE who came to an event like DJ Dan, Kaskade, Collette or our numerous other events, and it has sounded great in there.

One area we will continue to improve on is visuals. We need more in that area, but we already know that and are working on some things.

ill agree there, a year ago the place was plywood painted black, now it has really improved. I didnyt know what a hassle it would be to secure the commodore... guess ill have to treasure every time someone i like gets booked there.

In case anyone is wonderign i also had a very bad plush experience and so am obviously biased against the bar and its management. there was a time when i really did like that club.

commodore is not allowing electronic nights to go on there for the time being.
Trust me I wanna be there as much as anyone else.

^ What ?

Mark Farina is playing there soon

Armin or Sander? Hum, Sander it is!

As for Plush, I don't like that venue at all. It's way too big. I mean, I could get stabbed in the back corner and no one would find my body for days

I'll give it some thought as long as you guys protect me from any potential stabbings

My only problem is i'm playing @ Shout over here with Sean on the 21st and i'm def coming to Sander. It would be tough for me to get the days off and it would be tough to get the time off work since it's May long and all. We shall see though......

Posted by Sinecure on Mar-30-2005 17:19:

Cheers,
Erik

Trust me... we know that $40 isn't cheap. As I am personal friends with multiple promoters in TO, in fact we do DJ/flight sharing with TO often, some events/venues are far cheaper to throw out East than here.

Our local government and venue owners make it fairly pricey to throw an event here. Add the cost of DJ's, flights, venue, sound, lighting, required permits (if needed) and it gets expensive.

Posted by Mainerski on Apr-07-2005 01:59:

Why do you think it's so expensive, because BC stands for BRING CASH!

Posted by Tayfoon on Apr-07-2005 02:16:

The main reason for steep prices

is that in T.O they can book whoever they want for Guvy and get 3000 ppl, different situation in van

Posted by apri_peel on Apr-07-2005 04:56:

if only van promoters stoped screwing each other over lol

Posted by Mark on Apr-07-2005 05:55:

If you think 40CDN is much, in europe it's not much different, maybe few dollars difference like 35, but it's still the same really.

Posted by Kraig on Apr-07-2005 15:59:

As I don't want to piss the TA admin's off by starting another thread on Armin, opening for Armin this time around:

With locals:
UNION-DJ's (aka. Martin Palin and Adam Reznik)

Cheers.
