I totally agree that Sander can't (and shouldn't) be labeled. He plays house, a bit of prog, and he throws in a little bit of other genres at times. A GOOD mixture. He's got a style all his own. Great guy...brilliant DJ.

IMO...

IMO:

Junkie XL: Very trancy house. i love his style and i think he does the best live PA sets out of anybody out there. but for the most part i consider him slightly more tance than house.

Sander: Well you really cant define sander. its definitly house, but what kinda house? I'm just gonna call it sander house from now on. its funky, it bangs, its retro and pregressive all at the same time. its just "Sander House" cuz no one does it like he does.

DA: the time has come for you to stop being a closed minded douchebag. we all love trance, and we all love other stuff too. you should be open to everything, and just like what you like. i dont consider myself a house head, but i love sander and alot of other house DJs. I hate breaks, i dont like hybrid, but their Y4K CD is one of my favs. and yes its breaks.

Can't argue with that.

my buddy and i saw sander @ spin during wmc, he rocked it...

if i were to label his style, yea i'd say it was progressive house, a lot of deep basslines, more of a "house" feel and less of the (what i call) "ambient" sounds that i'd associate w/trance

he also broke up a remix of mr. roboto that lawler threw down the night before @ state.

should have checked out Sander at ultra for a bit, had the crowd on a string
til there was you + mr brightside + mr roboto + the funk = good stuff

EDIT: d/l his Sensation White 2004 set. one of my faves and kinda trancey for Mr K. contains my tune Flash Bros - Amen.

would be funny to see DA at Space on the 23rd

Sometimes Sander likes to spin records and mix them.

That's what afterhours is all about. Montreal does afterhours better than anyone this side of the Atlantic. Boa and Aria are the same way though, no alcohol, but great crowds, and killer music.

thats sweet about the suspension on the floor, shiat!!!

yea, people there dance like it's their jobs, very rarely seen a crowd go as nuts... im sure the drugs help too

as for everyone being gay, i found there was one section of the club
(maybe a 1/3, on the right facing the booth??) that was straight... and the girls THERE???

lets just say, i love montreal

have yet to check out aria and circus (and over to TO for boa and the guv), but there's always next time! im in love with parties in canada

If you go on a night when it's a circuit DJ spinning [Morales, Tom Stephan, Victor Calderone etc] then the club is almost 100% gay guys. But seriously, the atmosphere in that club is unreal, and yes the girls that do go are phenominal. Aria is also a wicked club, it books a greater variety of acts, and it's crowd is far more straight, and the girls are good looking in that club too. and another thing about that club is their main resident DJ, Preach. Holy crap that guy is wicked, couple weeks ago for montreal's big party called bal en blanc, he opened for tiesto and made him look like a chump from what I'm told.

I haven't been to circus, simply because I never need to go anywhere else when I'm in Montreal.

I haven't been to Space in Miami, but from what I hear, our club 'the guvernment'is very similar. Ours is bigger, but it's got the same 'superclub' label attached to it. Overcrowding, and a management out just to squeeze as much cash out of the club patrons as possible, makes it nothing special. They have been getting a little better recently because Boa's giving them competition. Boa on the other hand is like a combination of Stereo and Aria, just a rediculous club. Next time you're up here partying, check those places out!

Perhaps...And I love you too, Phil.

I want to thank you all for all the great feedback. It's been very helpful. And this wasn't an April Fool's joke, like I said.

FINAL NOTES: No, I'm not going to see Sander. Never, ever. The only good Sander is Sander van Doorn. I don't like any DJ who trashes on house. Fuck you, Sander and whetever bullshit style it is you play.

In any case, it's GAY.

Trance. That's all for me.
