well...of course everyone on this site is gonna agree hehehe. but from most of my friends that don't know about "techno" as they call it hehe, its really just because they don't know anything about it. they don't search it out. if they go to a club, they have a good time and will dance, but then they also think that is the only setting for it. really i think the whole rave scene gave EDM a bad start here in the US because people have a lot of stereotypes about the music now. and i guess a lot of people think that trance or whatever genre doesn't have lyrics...and that once again is just stupid hehehe.

i think if people actually took the time to listen to some of what is out there today, rather then just brush it off as something they don't like...we'd have a lot more people in the clubs and into EDM in general...

well actually clubs and bars usually close around 2am...so i don't see that making much of a difference.

Why would I know anything about clubs in New York? I'm obviously talking about how they operate in general. I do appreciate your attempts to undermine my intellgence, however.

I'm guessing it's just because most of us don't have the patience to listen to an entire album by Sasha as he loops ethereal beats and synths together. Most of us would rather pop in a Lil' John cd and laugh as he says "yeaaaaah!"

When you go to a club these days in the States you see those damn kandii girls whom I detest. You know, those ones who snorted their prescribed ritalin, jump around shouting "plur!" and chew on their glowsticks. They also tend to look like rejected extras from the movie Party Monster.

That's about as normal looking as they get.

When I go to a club, I generally try to look somewhat classy...

me on the far left, Keri, then Kristy (oh yeah, the KKK is back, and some of us are in black, whoda thunk it?)

If you ask someone to name a trance track, they can only name Sandstorm. Gah! Sandstorm is not the be all and end all of trance! I dunno, it's just kind of annoying to me.

What are your thoughts on this?

funny seems to be a worldwide epidemic

The UK has the same shit so stfu...

and wow so does Germany

and babe you are not classy...

I despise chics like you who go to clubs thinking they have some sort of better right to be there over other people...simply based on the way you dress or your attitude.

YOu have no more right to dance in a club then a clubkid....so give it up...

Posted by UWM on Apr-07-2005 15:12:

Umm, what? What does that have to do with anything?

I can list a hundred reasons why electronic music still hasn't caught on in America, despite the access, but that'd be too much work.

But basically, one difference I notice between us (electronic music fans) and them (pop/hip hop/emo/whatever fans) is that we love our music a lot more than they love theirs. They'll buy the latest CD, play it a few times, and in less than a year they'll stop listening to it either because the band disappears or it's not the "in" thing anymore. However, how many times have you seen someone on these boards talk about digging up old records/CDs (e.g. the Northern Exposure series) and talking about how, even years after they were released, they'll still have a fresh sound? The difference between electronic music fans and mainstream music fans is that we appreciate the music from all the years, while mainstream people only like what's "new" and "fresh."

I shall ask this once again... were a lot of classes you had back in school were with a bunch of kids confined to wheelchairs speaking in onomatopoieas?

Shut up.

Posted by sandstorm03 on Apr-07-2005 15:16:

you guys know one of dj teks parties got raided cause there i guess was a suspicion that underage drinking was going on. But no one there was underage.

Posted by UWM on Apr-07-2005 15:16:

A lot of the "Mega-clubs" outside of NYC seem to have stayed open, and they consistenly bring in the same level of talent. I really don't see what your point is.

If anything we can blame you for attracting the juice head gym homos to the clubs...because they sure frig it up more then any candy raver ever will.
